Where were you on 9/11/2001?

I was 20 at the time. I worked in the lab making glasses at Lenscrafters full time. My manager also ran a newspaper route and was in KC for the week so I agreed to run his paper route for him. I started around 3-4 a.m. and finished around 7 central time. I got home and talked to my roommate before she went to work. She got in the shower and I turned the tv on. The first plane had hit a few minutes before. I yelled at her that she needed to get out here and see this. We watched as the second plane hit. I sat in front of the tv the rest of the day watching the coverage on CNN and music videos playing and the coverage on MTV. 3 hours later they closed the mall and some coworkers came over and we watched the coverage all afternoon. Hard to believe that was 9 years ago. It still feels like it was yesterday

I was 5. I was at school.

Laughlin drunk as hell because I won big the night before. My father calls ne at the room and tells me we were attacked. Half drunk amd half hung over I thought he was messing with me until I turned on the news

I agree, it's hard to believe it happened so long ago. I'm not going to spill my whole story but I was 19. I worked outbound telemarketing in Texas calling the northern states. Work sucked so bad, no one wanted to talk to telemarketers after a disaster happened. Everyone had an excuse and a sad story about a friend or relative at the twin towers. It affected more people than I would think.

I was 30, sitting in a cube next to my data center. Someone walked by and said there was a big plane crash in NY. I spent most of the rest of the day in the kitchen watching the news. I was 10 miles from the pentagon.

I woke up right after the first plane hit and watched the second one hit on CNN. I thought it was all a bad dream.

walked in my house and turned on the tv 5mins after the first tower got hit...I was like WTF? Then the other got hit! Damm! I just sat there gobsmacked. I felt so sorry for the people you could see trapped above the fire! I have nothing but respect for all emergency personell that went up those stairs!!! I'm not American but they are my heroes!!!

I was 20 going on 21 the very next day, in college, and sleeping when the attacks happened. My roomate tried to wake me up and I ignored him. Finally I woke up grabbed a bowl of cereal an sat in front of the TV looking at an aerial shot of NYC. The spoon fell from my mouth and into the bowl when I realized what I was seeing. I have chills right now just thinking about it. The next day made for a very odd 21st bday. My friends dragged me to the bar where I watched CNN and attempted to down 21 shots(do not attempt).

I was in the first grade. I sorta remember but not really. The teachers went to the teachers lounge for a while and some came back crying. We got sent home early that day. When I got home my mom was sitting on the floor with her jaw dropped to the floor watching the tv.

I was in Behrain getting on a plane at 10am 2nd part of my journey! thast the truth, coming back from my honeymoon in the Maldives..
Didnt know until we got to Gatwick -
I was 3 months pregnant living and working in Greenwich Village, lower Manhattan. I had decided to piss off to see my moms for 3 weeks who was living in Amsterdam. on September 10th, I bought what I thought to be an ironic I ❤ NY tee at the airport. (like who wears the take-out/delivery bag logos from the Chinese resto?) the next morning i got a call from Huck's dad sayingthe first tower had been hit. I watched everything on CNN and BBC America. I had just been tired of new york needing a break from the city, yet found myself stuck overseas when I needed to be there the most. I came back to the acrid smell, the skyline forever changed down Sixth Ave, and fond memories of when my folks lived and worked in The Battery. I also held a future human waiting to be born and raised in my city that had just been changed forever.

I was a kindergardener. I knew about it because I heard my teachers talking about it. I knew that lots of people were dead, but I didn't know why. We went home at noon. My parents didn't let me watch the TV for 2 weeks.

I also remember saying this was going to be our generation's "where were you Kennedy assasination." so thank you for this post turf warrior sheep guy.

Watched towers fall from windows and shoreline Was on phone with cousin as second plane hit while he was locked on exchange floor. Picked up loved ones as they walked across bridge covered in soot and debris. I was 26.

I was 13 and I remember sitting in the library with my class at Catholic school doing a project, and seeing our school nurse running down the hall crying and screaming. They didn't tell us anything, and they canceled school for the day, and when I got home my parents told me what had happened and we sat there watching the news together.

I git in my car and turned in radio to a morning show and thought they were doing a skit a first. I was outside when the second tower fell and heard my neighbor running down the street crying that the second tower fell. Many nations lost people that day, but I felt comforted that the whole world joined together in grieving with us Americans

I was 22 and living in New Orleans. I worked at nightshift at the CBS station, so I was asleep. My wife (girlfriend at the time) called and said "Wake up! The world is ending and you are asleep." I went into the newsroom that afternoon and saw a room full of people paid to write and report the news stand speechless. I went home early to spend time with loved ones. That was all we could do. My job, and indeed the world changed.

Btw this wasn't the original thread. Black death made it.

Kindergarten. They let everyone out in the state around 11.

I had a cousin who lived in new York. it took us weeks before we found out he was ok.

I walked into the office and Lori (gf) was pulling the TV out and I made some smart remark. The look on her face as she turned to tell me😰. I heard the words, even understood the meaning of them, but they just wouldn't make sense. Then the TV news was on. I sat on the floor and cried while watching this "impossible" horror unfold.
Then to watch/read the 100's of stories of bravery. 😰😰 It showed that beneath all the BS of politics/social status/etc. the True American Spirit is alive. ALL came together 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇩🇪🇷🇺🇮🇹🇪🇸🇫🇷🇨🇳🇰🇷🇯🇵.
