That is terrible.I was 19 and in college. I had to take a physical education elective so I chose bowling. We set at the bowling alley and watched the buildings fall. I went to class later that afternoon with about 3 other people. The teacher gave a quiz consisting of writing your name on the paper in order to screw everyone else who didn't go to class. Being that I was there, I defended my classmates who were home or with loved ones and not in class. Her excuse was, "The planes didn't crash here."
I'll never forget her cruel and unsympathetic response.

Working, at the now closed and demolished Bury General Hospital.
I remember we had radio 1 on and the newsreader was struggling to describe to us what she was seeing. You could hear in her voice she was on the verge of tears.
Chris Moyles was fantastic that afternoon, taking charge and helping her through the traumatic scenes.

I was 17, I had a first period spare so I didn't start school until 10:05am, I walked into my grade 12 history class a couple mins early and sat down. My teacher turned on the tv, first tower was already hit. I was shocked. Had no idea what was going on. We just watched tv in every class for the rest of the day.

I was living in Ibiza at the time, my mum and family were over for that week, we were sitting on the beach by their hotel and my girl received a txt message from here friend say "terrorists have flown a plane into the pentagon" and that's all she wrote, we thought it was a joke that was missing the punch line and went upto the rooms turned on the news and saw the second plane hit the tower live, could not believe what I was seeing! Sat there for the next five hours watching in disbelief

I was driving to a design class when I heard it on the radio, I was 21. I thought it was some weird hoax because it was just happening. No one in class seemed to know about it nor spoke of it. When I got out of class I realized it was no hoax and of course the rest of the day was spent watching the news and crying like most others.

I was one, and me and my mom were at the playground and my dad was flying on that day and he landed in Detroit, and called my mom to tell us to get back inside, and we went back to our apartment and she put me down for a nap and then she watched it on the news

I would equate 9/11 to our generations pearl harbor

I was 4 years old when it happened. I can remember watching the tv and shouting mum to come look at the pretty lights on the tv, I was laughing and clapping.
Only years later did I noticed what I found so entertaining. I didn't know at the time what it was. To me it was just a picture...

Getting laid!😻 I was round my partners house, taking care of business and she put the tv on after only for us to see what was going on.

Remember this day well, was in the California NationalGuard at the time and we were at Camp Roberts on our two week annual training. Everyone huddled around the Humvee listening to the events unfold on a staticky portable radio in awe. Nobody could believe what was happening, but everyone knew what was coming. We were sent home early that training, knowing that at any moment we were going to get "the call". It undoubtedly came, and I spent my newlywed year activated.

Was a sophomore in high school, had band practice that morning for a community wide picnic later that night. Horrible rehearsal, but as we were putting instruments away, band director came in and said picnic was cancelled because two planes crashed into buildings in NYC. I didnt understand how that meant the picnic was cancelled until I got to my next class, AP American history, but I can show you exactly where I was standing in the band room when the announcement was made.

And then when W got reelected, we were picked to march in his inaugural parade. CBS came and interviewed us about our reaction to 9/11. same director told everyone to dress nice the day before; I was the only person who dressed normal, and I was also the only person whose face made the actual airing. A couple other people's voices could be heard, but I was the only face the nation saw.

I was 5, my routine in the morning was to watch cheez tv (an Australian show consisting of cartoons). Well I didn't really understand the situation so I cried because my favorite program wasn't on...now I look back and it's all sadness. RIP

Austin TX, about to head out to class when I saw the first plane hit. Stayed home all day watching TV and vowed to get a job again (I was prior Air Force) that made a difference.
I interviewed with the State Department two months later and started working for them the next year.
Now, 10 years to the day, I'm in the middle east (my third country here) making a difference, never forget. ✊

I saw the first plane hit the building and could not believe my eyes, I was on a business trip heading to the tower and had just gotten out of the cab and saw the first plane hit.
I wont forget the sound, I knew it was not an accident and then we started running and quickly we saw the other plane coming to hit and I knew this was something big and will never forget that day, I though honestly this was the start of a world war

I was on my way to pick up my parents the airport so we could celebrate my 5 birthday the next day. My gma got a phone call and we turned around and went home, she started crying and making lots of phone calls. I didn't know what was going on but I knew my parents weren't home and my gma was sad...... I also remember the pie we had the next day for my bday. Lol

I saw the thread on the forums and I figured I'd bump this.

Man looking at this and all the old timers posting. Brought back memories... Anyways I was at pre-k. And my mom came rushing in and took me out of school. I was like 5 so I don't remember anything.

I think this is always good to bring back on this date. Never forget

The minute the first plane hit I began to projectile vomit, and I was really sick for around 3 days, finally a buddy of mine came and told me what happened and that I lost one of my childhood friends in it. Never forget.

I was 29 and in a van on my way to a trade show in Chicago. One of my coworkers called us and let us know what was going on. We thought it was a small plane. Then she called back and said a second plane had hit. We continued. We heard that a plane had hit the Pentagon, so we called our boss already in Chicago and was told that downtown Chicago was being evacuated so we should turn around and go home. We did. And along the way we ducked into a bar for lunch and ended up watching a hour of coverage before finishing our trip home. We did not get to leave work early, but we should have. Seeing those images was the worst.
