Debate on child molesters and fatal revenge
Forums › General Discussion › Debate on child molesters and fatal revenge-
I live in Australia: which means that we don't kill criminals under law.
I want to know, if somebody hurt/killed a child in your family, and capital punishment wasn't an option in your country, how would you react? How would you feel?
Would you be satisfied (as possible regarding the situation) if they were locked up for life?
Would you pay somebody to kill them for you?
Would you hunt them down yourself, and if so, what would you consider worthy revenge?
Or would you hurt somebody close to their heart?Personally, I don't believe in torture, but I'd hunt them down or break them out of prison just to put a bullet in their head myself. Of course, I'd identify myself to them first (insert evil chuckle here).
Seriously.

If something happend to a family member of mine I wouldn't even contact the police. I'd deal with them myself...sick people deserve sick punishment and the law isn't hard enough
-
To me it's not even about vengeance as much as removing a threat to other children. I wouldn't bat an eye at killing someone who hurt my kid.
-
Let's face it killing them wont act as a deterant to other nonces but that's not the point, I'm anti death penalty for murder but would kill any person that sexually abused any of my chilldren.
That's not state intervention, which I'm against, it's my choice to allow my kids to grow up without the fear of them being released and attacked again. -
Some debate. I agree with all three of you.
To be honest though, I believe that you'd have to be out of your mind to not agree.
-
If you are scrawny and white and get locked up for life, you get beat up and raped. Not fun :P
-
Now change it up a little bit. Say this person was beaten and raped continuously by his father. So it is a learned action and in their mind maybe it's not terrible. Would you feel the same? I'm not disagreeing that I would be extremely angry but the person is still a human being and the in the best way that I could I would want that person to get the help they need. Sounds weak but I assure this would be after a good beating, but I would not want them dead. There's nothing moral about killing someone.

I for one would not hunt down and kill anyone for anything. I do not believe in vigilante justice, nor do I think I have it in me to harm or kill another human being in this manner. My faith lies in the civilized society we are striving for where its citizens do not have the right to harm others. There are officers who are to uphold the law and they may use force to do so, as decided upon by our politicians. And I disagree with anyone taking the law into their own hands to serve their own needs.

Here in Texas a few months back,a father found his 5 yr old daughter being molested in a barn on his ranch. He beat the POS to death right then and there.
He was never charged with murder based on the circumstances. But again, this was in Texas

I couldnt imagine the anger if something like that happened.
DEATH!

Death penalty is worthless. Its more expensive than life in prison and doesnt have any advantages. Regardless of the crime capital punishment only serves to settle carnal rage. These feelings are normal, but legalizibg them makes no sense from a societal point of view. Waste of tax money

Additionally, it's areas like this where the 2nd Amendment takes care of it before it even goes to court. Good ole 'Merica.

The point isn't whether it's moral, it'd be an extreme emotional reaction on most people's part. Whether molestors gets life w/o parole or death, I don't care, but I'm tired of seeing evil people get a few years and be out. If you're a predator of children, at that point I don't want you helped - I want you off the streets forever one way or the other.
-
Find the murderer and pin him down, then cut off his hands then scalp him and say "job done" then get shot by the police

My concern is why is this only a big issue in America. It's because these super strict sex laws. A Century ago girls were having kids as soon as they hit their periods. Now somehow something's changed? Human behavior is human behavior, it's how life flourished now somehow it's taboo. Yes I agree some sexual acts are fair worse than others, but in most instances it's really not all that bad. I was raped as a kid and I do not want the person killed. I mean he was like 16 so it was experimenting for hi as well.
-
Not that I approve of his actions, but it's these kind of scenarios that ruin people's lives for no reason. I was 18 and I was dating a 17 year old, we were together for 3 years at that point and I was in the military and statutory rape was thrown at me from everywhere. I later married that woman! So this American sex craze needs to end, most other countries have a sex age of 14 and they don't have nearly the issues that we do here. There's a reason for that.
-
That should not be rape. Just with children.

How does the right to bear arms, have anything to do with this?? Unless it happened in your home and you witnessed it, then that amendment has zero connection to governing crime. Also it would be considered a crime of passion and temporarily insane claim can be made. It happens to soldiers that come home to their wife in bed with another man, or vice versa. But if you didn't witness it and you weren't there, then it's premeditated and first degree murder. You'd be just as bad as that person, personal vengeance is not a good path.Additionally, it's areas like this where the 2nd Amendment takes care of it before it even goes to court. Good ole 'Merica.

So then we would need to redefine the term "child" right? What constitutes a child? Actually in a good debate terms should be agreed upon anyways?
-
I'd just let them rot in prison then hell
-
Killing the suspect isn't justice. Hell be dead, not feeling a thing. It's his innocent family members that suffer. Though I probably wouldn't feel this way if I was in a fathers shoes.

The whole point of life is live with morals. Otherwise it would be utter chaos. Putting someone to death is not even a punishment to fit the crime. Think logically here, now yes I think some jail time should be done and those guys don't tend to like child molestors, so he will get what he gave, but that still doesn't fix the underlying issue. In today's world you can't just kill someone because they don't fit into your ideal of a person. If there is something wrong we have an obligation to help them so others aren't effected by it.The point isn't whether it's moral, it'd be an extreme emotional reaction on most people's part. Can you imagine if they just killed every sex offender? And I am willing to bet every male has had thoughts of an underage girl either knowingly or not. I mean it's pretty hard to tell if a girl is 16, 17 or 18 now a days. And thoughts can be just as harmful. Maybe not always directly but still can cause damage to a person. So don't sit on your high horse and think that you're fighting for real justice when you just want to justify your revenge. Our rehabilitation is no where near up to par and that's why people get out of prison and go right back to what they know, instead of changing their behaviors. I have a dream of day where sex is not chastised in this country. Americans are obsessed with it and yet love to oppress it every chance they get. Lol

@Maybe Katie, when someone breaks into your home and begins to rape you or your children are you going to wait for "the proper authorities"? Or are you going to "take the law into your own hands"? The government gets its authority from me not the other way around.

@Hebrew Hitman
I agree with some of what you've said. There are definitely different degrees of sex offenders. You can't just make a blanket statement that they should all be killed. I don't think that was anyone's point. But there is a definite difference between a 19 year old having sex with a 16 year old; and a 40 year old who rapes a young child. That type of person can't be rehabilitated. You can't fix that type of mental defect. -

The government gets its authority from you?? Really that must be nice, but again false. The government can make its own laws without you. But you are right, you can defend your property and as bad as it sounds that includes children. Now I'm sure everyone would react rashly if faced with that scenario. But how many times has that ever happened in real life? No very prevalent, in reality. It's rarely done at the child's home, but either at the perpetrators or somewhere in public.@Maybe Katie, when someone breaks into your home and begins to rape you or your children are you going to wait for "the proper authorities"?
