Um, so, I am party to two corporations. One I contract to and another I sit on the board of. You know ZIP about either of them but you have assumed they are criminals. Wanna know the truth yet?

Ive worked my ass off. And wasn't even making a living wage. So no. I just think a living wage should be brought to more peopleßelial wrote:
They steal and sit back and enjoy their "earnings." (you say). You don't want to have to work so much because you want to sit back, relax, and enjoy your money. Sounds like the same thing to me. (almost) you want to be like them and you're pissed about it.Those things aren't the top 1%. Largely the top 1% dodnt even work. They just steal what they have. And IMO you shouldn't have to work that many hours to get a living wage. No point in working if you don't have time to enjoy what you worked for

The working people (everyone with a job) is carrying those jackasses among us who are getting welfare and Medicaid and all the other handouts. The rich are paying their share. It's those leeches that aren't carrying their weightClyde⌖Barrow wrote:
Right now the rest of the country is carrying them. This isn't unheard of. This is near the exact tax amount on the rich from the 50s. Back when the economy is goodßelial wrote:
FUCK THAT!!!! I'm in my first year out of school and probably gonna break 80k. In 3 or 4 yrs, I could potentially break that. Not to mention that you are asking those people to carry the rest of the country!Simple solution. Anyone that makes more than $200k needs to pay 75%. Anyone that makes less than that doesn't pay

Wellfare and medicaide aren't all that widespread. Don't make a minority into a majority To win an arguement

Under $200k doesn't pay at all? You want to go scott free because you're bitter that you don't make $200k? I don't make that either, but if I did there's a lot I'd need to do with it in the way of taking care of family and retirement, etc. Get your grimy hands off my money. Some of us have responsibilities outside our own braincase.Simple solution. Anyone that makes more than $200k needs to pay 75%. Anyone that makes less than that doesn't pay

Im not even making 30k karma. I have every right to be bitter about a system that never gave me any oppertunity

Even his simple solution is so obviously flawed... He's just trying to get a rise out of us.

In today's economy $200k isn't just a whole heck of a lot of money on average. This depends on where you live because cost of living varies. But if you're supporting your family and planning for expenses such as college and retirement and normal inflation...$200k dwindles pretty fast. In my case I'm also considering possibly supporting someone who needs care after I'm gone. That's a huge expense. Wanna think again about robbing me blind and how evil I am and how I'm stealing shit?

The "system" gave you the same opportunities it gave me. Pure and simple. In fact, if you make less than 30k it gave you more opportunities. I'd love to have been eligible for gov't scholarships. I'd love to have qualified for the programs that paid for the surgeries my son needed rather than be $34 over the line and have to fork over $15k per foot for corrective surgery. Yup...we made $34 too much. That's it. Because we were "rich." Pull your head out.Im not even making 30k karma. I have every right to be bitter about a system that never gave me any oppertunity

Not qualified for college wo wouldn't work regardless

Redistribution of wealth is socialism. Socialism removes opportunity. That's where we are headed thanks to the Nanny-state mentality of those who want to be on the government dole, sitting in their mother's basement, smokin dope and complaining about the rich.

The classic problem with the occupy movement and people that espouse it is that no one can really help anyone that truly enjoys wallowing in self-pity and their seemingly helpless state in life. Even if you hand them a million dollars I guarantee there will be something wrong with the way you did it. It won't be enough, the taxes will be too much, or for gosh sakes....a paper cut from the check. I understand frustration with life circumstances better than you might think, Belial, but you need a plan to get out of it. And you have to work that plan hard and fast. In the end it is a personal decision to use what resources are available. Even if you paid no taxes I guarantee 30k won't solve your problems. This movement is an excuse. A nationwide excuse.

The average wage in my state is less money than I even make. We have the worst economy in the nation and 5 years ago we had the best. There are no longer any oppertunities where I live. If you don't have a job you'll never get one. If you have shitty pay you'll never be able to improve yourself here.

I'm what many of you would consider an ex-gang member. I grew up, changed my life, and worked hard to do so. While I'm not in the six figure category, I make more than most of the people I grew up with. Does that make me better than my homey who is a mechanic, though? We're all Americans, and we're all important. We need burger flippers, assembly line workers, and bank managers. Migrant farm workers work 50+ hours a week, bent over at the waist 10-12 hours a day, to put "cheap" produce on our tables. Yet, they're less important than the CEO who's earning $15 million a year?
Look, if you're patriotic or proud to be American, ask yourself if you love the PEOPLE or the Audi A8 you're saving up for? Is it the money potential or the people you love?
Corps send jobs overseas, syphoning away OUR jobs to increase their profit margin. Hard working people lose their jobs everyday to this and automation, all to make more money for a select few. As Americans, are we ok with this?
-
Exactly. There are no longer really any jobs left in this country. Everything worthwhile has been shipped overseas

I actually agree totally with the idea that we shouldn't outsource our work to other countries. There are two problems with that. One--it's expensive to keep things domestic and perhaps we should just lump it. Two--we are fast losing some of the technical expertise to do certain things well and fast for reasonable sums. Now...that woukd be an area in whic I think corporations could stand to take a loss (it woukd be HUGE though) in order to support Americans. The downside? Many corps would have to close their doors.

Even corps that outsource work employ American workers to supervise the processes. When the coro shuts down they lose their job--along with the US arm of said corp. This is a global economy. We need to support our country without living in a bubble.
-
@41Fivin...I don't think this is an issue of who is "better" than anyone else. It's an issue of balance of taxation among other things (at least according to what I've read so far) and a number of other issues that the occupy movement supports based on the Occupy Wall Street movement. They have a website stating their demands rather clearly.

It's the same in most western countries. The polish in particular had a great time coming to the UK as builders and plumbers because the could do the job and cheaper. Better yet, what if Disney closes its doors. Who cares about them anyway?

More companies will fill in the gap. It always works this way.
