Or maybe he should have not been involved in a confrontation with riot police in the first place.
Peaceful protesters are rarely assaulted by police. Like... Almost never.
When asked to move by cops, do it. Simple. Do not instead march toward them at night shouting obscenities. Just a tip.

Excuse me, but it seems that basic economics has left the building.
Our currency is based on GDP, not gold. That mean one person getting obscenely wealthy does not impact those below the poverty line, other than business opportunities increasing along with the capital above them.
A living wage is self regulating. It changes with inflation.
A corporate salary above and beyond the living wage is based on production and talent competition.
Of course they will deviate. The living wage people should have a goal to compete on a production or talent basis to earn more capital.
A dollar is a unit of production. It is not a limited resource.

I don't know about other places that this movement is happening in but I know here in TN that they have camped out on state property that people used to use everyday. I don't see how this is right, if I went to one of the many state campgrounds I have to pay to camp there and if I didnt I would be removed from the property. People are not being able to go out and eat their lunch or even walk to work or relax on this property without getting asked for money or food. How is it right since it's state property paid for by taxpayers, that they get to camp out for free on it, this doesn't seem like a very organized protest to me.

There is nothing to underestimate.
All talk, your website is a blatant example of picking the worst examples of a minority and pushing it as the mainstream opinion. Your doing exactly what the coperate news shows do.
So who's the drone? -

If you believe in the Constitution you should be worried. These are unarmed citizens, exercising their rights and not hurting anyone. People want to go out in the streets to protests the power of the banks? Go for it! Fuck the banking industry, it does have to much influence. Whether you agree or disagree with their reasons or effectiveness - this is the USA, not ChinaThe constitution is wonderful, and works well. But we live in a world of gradation. Freedom must be balanced against the freedom and safety of everyone else. The right to violently revolt is not well defined.

Yes they may pay taxes but my point is, it's state property, you have to pay to camp when you camp at a state park or state campground, if you dont pay you get removed. So tell me what bumming off of the state and taxpayers has to do with freedom of speech. And just saying most of the people I see in the occupy around here look like they dropped out of college and have never filed taxes in their whole lifeDead Eye Frank wrote:

Don't get me wrong... I'm not saying they should be disbanded.
I'm saying their right to free assembly is qualified with the word "peaceably".
When I see some of the messages of the movement, and the behavior of some of the squatters, "peaceably" is not always happening.
I'm a libertarian minded guy. But I believe violence must be contained by force.
Our rights must not trample the rights of others.

Protests most generally get out of hand as they grow. Plus all the media is obviously slanted against them. We are seeing only the negative.

Brown is certainly right that one persons freedom ends where another begins. If they are violent then it's over when it comes to rights. Blocking streets improches on the rights of other citizens etc. but that's about it. Sitting in a line on a sidewalk doesn't give the cops a right to douse them with pepper spray like in Berkley or beat the shit out of them in the quad for protesting with linked arms.

What exactly is the intent of locking arms?
I might guess it is to form a barricade, or prevent dispersal. It is to me a sign of aggression and resistance to authority.
I would expect police to react to it if it impeded lawful movement.
Protest does not require police clashes. They are only desirable because they attract the media.
I do not sympathize with them when they get what they ask for.

Brown - you're a libertarian - how the hell are you on the other side of this issue?
It's fucked up that war vets who put there lives out to defend the constitution come home to have their skulls cracked by cops on the street. These vets arent engaged in "violent revolution"!
Look at the second vet critically injured in Oakland (beat til his spleen ruptured) and tell me that's "ok" cuz IMO it's sick. These are people peaceably gathering on the street. -
I saw the video. It's not sick, it's stupidity.
You do not resist detainment. How much more simple can this be?
Once they have their hands on you because you refused to stop, you SHOULD NOT push the officer away from you in a rapid jerking motion.
Then, if they commence to whopping on your ass, you asked for it.
The video is not on the street, it appears to be in an elevator lobby.
It's a shame he ruptured his spleen in the incident, but that's no indication of extreme brutality. Happened to my grandfather when he was 50, just sitting in his chair.
I'd like to be perfectly clear on this point. If you physically push a police officer trying to detain you, expect pain.
-
That sounds a little different than your version, doesn't it? You are either listening to biased or incomplete reports, or you are intentionally being biased and incomplete.
"Walking down the street peacefully, and for no reason beaten by police officers! Sick!"
-
As a libertarian, I expect my personal business to be free and private.
That doesn't mean that I don't need police protection to maintain my freedoms and my property.
I appreciate the police for all their work, and I will happily grant them the occasional accident or misunderstanding.
When a mistake happens, let justice be done. But I do not condemn the system, or the brave work of the military, police, fire fighters, doctors, etc. for performing a valuable and necessary service to our society, through adversity and unpopularity against an ungrateful element of society.

While I agree with the message of those protesting, to an extent. Namely down with Capitalism, 1% of the worlds population contains a disproportionate amount of wealth, and the gap between rich and poor is vastly widening. Does anyone actually have any viable solutions? 🔫🔫©
-
No idea what you're talking about. The video on TV takes place in the street and has the 32 year old army ranger who served in Iraq and afghanistan being beat by armored (ever wear riot gear?) police with clubs.
Its over the top and it shouldn't be happening.
I'm not defaming police - I'm sure most of them dont like the detail (but prob the overtime), I'm saying these unarmed people are well within their rights to be on the street, etc not hurting anyone or causing damage. They shouldn't be subject to being hospitalized for having an opinion contrary to yours.
Seriously, some of you get more out of life in China or North Korea where you can all have one opinion (state-sponsored of course). -

"Spreading wealth" is contrary to freedom and prosperity.
We are not at the point of developing nations where most people are starving while others are prosperous.
-
Well freedom is subjective. Capitalism and freedom seem to be at odds with one another. Some claim going to work, going home, sleep, and repeat is simply another form of bondage. Pay taxes or the government takes their taxes without asking how much they should take. As to the protesters and "not hurting" anyone well I'm sure there are a few police officers who would disagree. It has been said that the clean up efforts due to the damage of the squatters or protesters will harm many a tax payer. 🔫🔫©

No brown. Taxes on the rich have been going down. Because of bush it's down to 35%. While the taxes on lost middle class is only 10%. How can a class that has 1000x higher income only be paying 5% more of that? I'd say that's more than out of balance
