“Pregnant women with coronavirus don’t experience more severe illness than the general population, unlike in SARS and flu cases, small study finds.
Pregnant women don’t seem to be any more susceptible to severe symptoms of Covid-19, compared to the general population and they don’t seem to pass the infection onto their babies, according to a new study.
Scientists were interested in the impact of the disease on pregnant women because in prior SARS and H1N1 pandemics, pregnant women were more susceptible to serious forms of the illness and had a greater chance of dying from the infection than the general population.
None of the babies in this study seemed to be infected, based on tests performed on them on the first day of their lives.”

Regarding wearing masks, if you don’t use them correctly, they won’t help or could potentially infect you. Here’s one good article to learn how to use them correctly, as well as what material to use if you are making a cloth one at home.

The 2 million deaths was simply if absolutely nothing was done, no social distancing, etc. And obviously that number would be a wild guess anyway. The 100k-240k number was just a guess the trump admin pulled out of their butts really. And even then they indicated that that number was best case if everyone practiced social distancing. Got a little suspicious when I couldn’t find any references on the internet as to how they actually arrived at those numbers. That plus they didn’t indicate if the numbers were for the first wave, first year, etc. I read all those numbers as political cover your butt numbers...make it sound bad and then hope like hell you can pretend to be a savior later if they prove high (or at least be able to blame someone if they are still too low).

Not even gates would make predictions like that based on the research. And no, they haven’t shown the exact models they used or even close to how they came up with those numbers. Why? Because they just don’t have enough knowledge even now on the virus to make those estimates. And they can’t calculate the trump factor at all :)

A tiger at the Bronx zoo tested positive for Covid. I read an article a month ago about a dog in Hong Kong showing a weak positive result for Covid but at first they thought it was surface contamination. Apparently it wasn’t and the tiger article said at least 2 dogs tested positive in Hong Kong (both had owners with Covid).

Currently there is NO evidence that pets can infect owners, but that does need more research. However, if you are sick, you should isolate yourself from your pet, if possible.
“At the Bronx Zoo, Nadia, her sister Azul, two Amur tigers and three African lions all developed a dry cough but are expected to recover. The cats experienced some decreased appetite, though they have been otherwise healthy.” (They could only get approval to do 1 test.)

And the IHME model is a scary one to use. More so as the sole model for basing life and death decisions on. If I recall it basically takes the Wuhan progression curves and extrapolates US curves along the same lines. So really a best case scenario that assumes we do what Wuhan did to tackle the virus. And the US will likely never ever be able to do what China did (welding apartment doors shut, hauling people kicking and screaming into quarantine areas, etc). Kinda reminds me of trump looking at a set of hurricane models and then picking the one he likes best and then planning based on that. Luckily he hasn’t taken a sharpy to the death graphs. Yet :)

I’m not entirely sure what to make of this since there is so much missing data. I had the same issue with the China study, which is why I didn’t post it when I read it. China’s was worse though because a large percentage of the data contained suspected cases, rather than confirmed.

Listen.... I get it. We can’t count everyone accurately. But just adding 200 deaths a day to the numbers and saying and we have no proof of that is wildly unethical and serves no purpose.
