In general it's hard to convince someone that a fairy tale is true by quoting part of it to them.
I think we all know it's a fairy tale. A few religious extremists that have actually read the bible might take it at face value. They have to ignore a lot of basic science to do so.
The rest seem to want to read between the lines. It's not what it says, but what it MEANS to say. It's the message that's important. Right?

No, that's the problem. What we are trying to prove comes out of the Bible. To someone who believes the Bible is "Fairy tales", it is useless to try and argue points within the bible by using biblical point to prove those points. With someone of your beliefs, we should be debating if the Bible is real or not before we even discuss personal doctrinal beliefs. In general it's hard to convince someone that a fairy tale is true by quoting part of it to them.

And no, it's not a fairy tale to us Christians. To include us in the "we all know it's a fairy tale" would be a falsehood as well as a direct insult to our intelligence. I don't keep a 4.0 grade average in college by being stupid. I wasn't able to be the youngest kid in H and r block in Oregon to pass the tax exams by being stupid my friend. So do not insult our intelligence. In regards to proving it, by your statements you are approaching close minded.

I will post my reasons as to why I view the Bible to be real and scientifically real, but I want to make sure I post clearly and concisely, I will post my belief in a few days, takes a bit to compile and condense so it fits in these forums.

I personally think that the bible holds no more truth than aesop's fables, although it outlines some very good morals and shows a good way to live and 'be christian' it doesn't have the factual evidence to convince me that it should be treated as any more than a book of fables.

Later on in life, you will probably come to realize as I did that religion is a powerful drug, and intelligent people can be sucked into it just as quick as the humble ones.

Intelligent and humble are not always opposites my friend. Neither is insulting someone's or a group's intelligence a viable way of debate. You are welcome to your beliefs however. And no, we will not end up the same my friend, I have seen too much in my young life and had to much happen to forget or disregard. I'm am sorry for your loss of belief however. It is another thing for a minister to turn his back on the Gospel. As ministers I know you fight more spiritual battles than a saint in the church.

If you have any intellectual curiosity in this day and age, your belief in Bronze Age pre-science can't possibly survive long.
It's the internets!

The fact that we disagree on truths is where I get my basis to be sorry. And yes, I love the internet, one of the best tools to be created. Helps me look up things to prove scripture faster when I need references for sure 😉

Gotta finish my economics homework, signing off. I hope you stick around to debate the science part once I get my notes finalized.

So the bible is infallible, but what of the contradictions?
For example
8) Matthew 2:15, 19 & 21-23 The infant Christ was taken into Egypt. Luke 2:22 & 39 The infant Christ was NOT taken to Egypt.13) Has anyone ascended up to heaven? Elijah went up to heaven: "And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven." 2 Kings 2:11 "No man hath ascended up to heaven but he that came down from heaven, even the son of man." John 3:13
21) Are we saved by works as well as faith? Ephesians 2:8-9 says no and James 2:24 says yes.
-
So if the bible is to be taken at full face vale, then it is contradictory. If not then who is to choose which parts are correct and which to be ignored?

Oh I prefer Ephesians, I think works is more important than faith. You can begin with a rebuttal to the "Why people laugh at creationists" series by thunderf00t on YouTube.
