Affordable Care Act - how much did your healthcare go up?
Forums › General Discussion › Affordable Care Act - how much did your healthcare go up?-
Mine is 60% higher now. That's hurts over a family of four.
-
My daughter has a prescription yesterday I picked up a refill. Our co-pay had been $4, the new one is $32.
I was pissed when, they reduced our flexible spending account from 5k to 2.5k. Now I'm really pissed, because not only do I miss out on the tax savings, I got to shell out higher co- pays.
I'm interested to see how much my premiums go up in January. Likely, I'll pissed again.
-
ours hasnt changed yet but we were already told either cost out of pay is going up. i think our copays and that are supposed to go up too. yay.
-
NO INSURANCE ROCKS 😆
-
Mine is going up 9.52%. Thankfully I work for an insurance company who forks out most of that bill anyways. No change in out of pocket maxs, copays, or loss of any coverage 👍. Sorry to hear the effects on those of you who are seeing this massive rate hikes. I have a family of 4 and understand that you can't feed yourself on a mutilated budget

... That we pay for with taxes! But no complaints. Since we're on the topic, can one of my friends from the USA provide a quick explanation of how the 'exchanges' work?
-
It's a zero sum equation.
Health care costs rise as equipment, tests, and expertise become more expensive to provide. And now there's the added overhead to run a federal program to control it. It can't go down without lowering the standard of care. It will continue to rise.
To make it affordable to everyone, those that pay the lowest (or zero) for health care, like young males, must now pay more to help with pregnant women, 50 year old heart disease patients, pre-existing conditions, etc... Those that benefitted by being unfairly healthy must now pitch in for those who are unfairly unhealthy.
The winners are the ones that typically cost more to insure. The losers are the healthy ones.
I suggest putting your balls in the microwave. You will find your cancer very affordable, and the medical weed is an added bonus.

Considering my mortgage is 50% of my and my wife's income, plus we have full medical so that's another 10% of our pay, add in childcare at 5% we live on 35% of our combined income after tax and will do for about the next 20 years.

I used to complain about how expensive Canada is vs the USA. Now that I am a bit older and maybe a bit wiser, I think differently. People shouldn't have to live in fear of not being able to afford health care when they need it.🍁 iamcanadian 🍁 wrote:

There'd be murder in the street if we tried to make it single payer. The country can barely handle this step towards that lol. You'll find that most Americans have this silly idea that every other first world nation has it wrong with national healthcare even though it clearly cost the country less in the long run.🍁 iamcanadian 🍁 wrote:

All you have to do is question our freedom and you can get us to vote against our own best interest. You should hear the propaganda machine about Canada's healthcare. You'd think you guys were hanging on by a thread up there.

Well that's somewhat offensive to someone who works their ass off, doesn't get benefits through work & can't really afford to shell out the extra for private healthcare.⌖🔥RΛINDᎧG🔥⌖ wrote:
