✈Morbidly obese people on planes✈

  Speaking for wheelchairs, I have never been more horrified in my life. I called ahead and was "accomodated". By being strapped into a contraption half my normal, which IS normal, size across my chest, stomach, and legs. Then taken into a half full plane like that and DROPPED on my side, totally helpless. Wheelchairs are supposed to be loaded first specifically to avoid this horror in front of people. I felt like luggage. The attendants roughly picked me back up without a word and placed me by my seat where the person I was traveling with asked me if I was hurt and wiped my tears off my face and helped me transfer and demanded to speak to somebody in charge. We were given a paper to fill out.

  That is a horrible situation I hope you do get at least some compensation for what happened, I know it rarely can make up for the damage, but the people that did this really need to get fired and/or punished...

  I had a thought today while I was flying coach. Why don't we make the airplane door the same size as the seats? Problem solved.

  Seriously though, all joking aside I have to say that after the first page, this thread really became a seething pool of negativity and abuse (thanks to the posts of several heartless individuals) ... but, there were also some decent points made by all posters.

  My god. On behalf of all respectable airlines (and employees) i apologize! Thats unacceptable. Those agents should be fired. Dare i ask what airline? As for the airline supplied wheelchair... Yeah. They're not pretty.

  Your absolutely right tho. All wheelchairs (or any pre-notified accomodations) are supposed to be loaded first, to avoid embarresment and to ease loading stress'es (sp?). But some airlines are too 'busy' (read: lazy and thoughtless) to remember the customer is right AND a person.

  Mathamatics and JohnnyUnknown? Thanks so much for your care. We were assured that the attendants would be dealt with, since the incident caused a head wound. This was a vacation. But flying with a wheelchair, or anything else........I think a bit of kindness in the human cargo hold would be great regardless.
