Can't this just be used as an argument to how easy it is to get a gun? There are too many incidents for it to be a few that slipped through the cracks. Gun ownership is too entrenched in the US for it to vanish in one go. The big argument for concealed and military style rifles always seems to always be self defence. Everyone wants to shoot an intruder. You are all absolutely correct. It's the gun's fault. Not the mentally unstable individuals behind them. 👍

The 2nd Amendment says NOTHING about the right to own an AR brand gun. Or even a rifle. Because, Wegsies, it's an incrementalist strategy to ban guns, first. Second, because we have a constitutional right to own AR's. Third, because most home invasions occur with more than one person, so I'm happy I have something with 30 rounds that can defeat Kevlar. No ones answered my question yet. I am in support of the 2nd amendment, although I will probably never have a gun. Why should anyone need an assault rifle? I fail to see the purpose. I may be missing something obvious, and if so, correct me

Civilians do not need assault rifles. Yes, assault rifles are a real thing, and yes, their purpose is killing humans.
we live in a democracy. The beauty of that is you don't need weapons to protect againat tyranny. Just a voice.
As for self defense, assault rifles aren't needed. Pistols kill too. So do shotguns. So do rifles.

Man, if that government decided to go all tryanny you wouldn't stand a chance! Better get those RPG's now while you can. -
2nd amendment:

Nowhere does it speak of assault rifles. -

The 'rights' argument is a funny one. No one seems incensed that their right to legally take any drug they like is quashed. But anyone attempt to take a gun off you is suddenly 'my right' to have it. Does anyone not think that the constitution may need a little updating? Not sure your founding fathers had an AR15 in mind when they penned it! Is it not also my right to own a nuclear weapon - provided I had the cash of course? Can I land mine my front lawn? It's my property after all.

Less rifles means less shootings with rifles. I can't argue with that logic. But it also means more shootings with handguns.Let's break this down in scientific terms.
A crazy muthafucka is gonna be crazy. Why? Because he's a crazy muthafucka. That's his job. If he wants to shoot up a school, a mall, or the entire cast of American Idol (one can only hope), he's going to do it. That's crazy shit that crazy people do. So woe is them, what will they do without their AR-15's? I'm glad you asked. They'll use hanguns, that's what they'll do. Did you really think Mr. Crazy is taking a permanent holiday because the AR-15 is banned? Sorry, no. Does Governor Christie take a minute off from eating? No.
It's the same, dumb logic that banning 10-round magazines does. Wow, so now a nut needs four 7-round mags in NY instead of three 10-rounders. Bcause everyone knows it takes at least 2 hours to insert an extra magazine, thus saving an entire village of people. Whew! That really solved America's violence problem.

Aub it's just context. And the constitution refers to God-given rights of man, not government-given rights. And you need to look at writings from the era and since then to understand the motivations and translations and debates of the second amendment which was left intentionally simple and direct. But if we are disagreeing on the nuts and bolts of limitations of these rights, can we also limit free speech a little? How about freedom of the press? Shut down the paparazzi and Princess Di is still alive. Let's limit due process too, while we're at it.

I think god wants me to have an assault rifle. He likes them. That's why he invented them. Spoons make people fat when they are full of trans fats, and I'm not sure if I cAn get the mayo jar open without 30 rounds of hallow point Teflon coated ammo. The drug dealers Obama supply's guns to gets Ar's..why can't I buy one with food stamps? where's my 4k free henchies. Anyone seen my worlds fair spoon? What time is it in Indonesia anyway? Looks like I'm gonna be a felon.

I'm not exaggerating the incident. Just pointing out violent deaths occur even in places where guns are more strictly regulated. Watch on YouTube , she's got American balls.
WATCH ALL...
She's Got The Balls To Tell It Like It IS.
Suzanna Gratia Hupp Tells her story of a mad mans shooting spree, that killed her mother and father.
Suzanna was able to carry a side arm but was stopped by a unconstitutional Law prohibiting Her from carrying it into certain areas.
She now speaks before Senate to clarify the True Meaning of The Second Amendment.
To protect the citizen from the on-slot of a TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT.
The Senators look on with contempt or an Innocent confused Look on their crooked-greedy-Faces. -
The constitution was written with broad terms so future generations could interpret it differently. That is why you can add and take away amendments through the correct process of course. If it violates your constitutional right then it will go to the Supreme Court and they will determine if it is constitutional or not.

🎶O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern impassion'd stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thine ev'ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev'ry gain divine!O Beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam,
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!🎶 -

And for everyone else using the Michael Moore argument, firearms does not include land mines, nukes, and tanks.
And if we are limiting the 2nd amendment why not the fifth? Why not the fourth - if I could search anyone I wanted to without arrest, consent, or exigency I can guarantee I'd save lives.
