I had a thread w/ a valid complaint about taxes and the federal govt. It got modded w/o any explanation. So is it against TOS to criticize the fed govt?

I sent support a question about it a few months back when they went on a political silencing spree. All I wanted to know is why.
No response. Maybe we can get them to come clean here. I doubt it, but maybe.

On the other hand, the amount of taxes the US govt is taking is straight BULLSHIT!

Federal taxes are lower now than they've ever been, or at least since WWII.

Enh, soon the states will be forced to structure their tax brackets like Canada. We have a tiny population with impeccable gov. services. More money you make the more taxes you pay, don't like it? Move to a third world country where you can keep that minimal %. It's not like anyone uses roads, schools, hospitals, emergency services, disaster relief, etc. I got hit with 3g's owing the first year I worked two jobs, not the end of the world. They gave me 2 years to pay it back, which I found quite reasonable.

And to the one who said taxes haven't been lower, I paid a lot less last year in taxes. Didnt make as much but both the precentage and the $ amt are higher this year.
And don't say I should be paying more because I made more. I made more because I wiped more patients asses and work A LOT MORE HOURS
-
Amen. I made 2300 last week and brought home 1800. That's $500 a week in taxes. And I worked my ass off. Put in 70 hours chasing stuff down and fixing it. Don't say I should pay more in taxes because I get off my ass and work.

If you'd been paying attention, you'd know that a large payroll tax cut expired last month. Your taxes didn't technically go up from where they were before the cut, they were just kept artificially low for the past two years to stimulate the economy. The cut was unsustainable, everyone knew that from the start. Were you as psyched with the government then as you are disappointed with it now?

I was happy w/ the tax cuts. And I believe that they are sustainable. A couple options to help sustain them are 1) refuse medical care to NON COMPLIANT PATIENTS (that 300lb COPD 1.5 pack a day smoker that we just paid for her second admission to the hospital in a week is a good place to start) & 2) All inmates in the prison system get a diet of bread, water, and bologna (The sheriff in AZ has it down to less than a dollar a day to house an inmate if I'm not mistaken) and no cable tv for them.If you'd been paying attention, you'd know that a large payroll tax cut expired last month. Don't forget to cut welfare benefits too!! The U.S. parks and recreations department regularly posts signs asking you not to feed the wildlife because they will become dependent on handouts and too lazy to do for themselves......why hasn't this kind of thinking caught on?!?

Why don't you guys look to other countries that evidenty don't have these issues. Sure up North we have higher tax brackets, but I feel it directly reflects our literacy, health, and employment rates. Which are amongst the highest in the world. The models are out there, just pick and choose what would work for your country.

Dude, why are you even in the healthcare industry? A person who has made some poor health choices should be put out on the street to die so your taxes will be lower? I'm beginning to see why your last thread was deleted.

Because money is more important to them then the sustainability of our society. The presuement of misinformation is more dramatic than logic. People have this asinine idea that ideological thoughts like libertarianism will somehow work in our country simply because we are 'mericans! Never mind the results are sitting in plain sight ie Somalia. Same goes with not wanting to look at what works like Canada in many ways though not perfect, due to unending misinformation about your country and because we are 'mericans! We expect to have the cake and eat it too. Not recognizing you can make said cake without the goods. Why don't you guys look to other countries that evidenty don't have these issues. I certainly don't like to pay taxes anymore than the next person, but taxes are based on a percentage therefore if you make more, you pay more. Isn't that basic math?

And Augustine, shame on you and your Obamaphone comment in the last deleted thread. I was going to take the time to explain to you how misinformed you are by that vote-buying propaganda scheme but screw it. If you don't know to research everything you hear before believing it valid then well...tsk tsk. There's a little bit more to subsidized phone service than the tea party would have you believe - (thats not paid for by federal tax dollars I might add)-going back to the 30's and specifically back to Reagan-Clinton-Bush for this particular bill. The cell phones just so happen to be cheaper than land lines now. I challenge you to inform yourself with the history and creation of it.

I paid 350 in federal withholding. 80 in social and 70 in FICA. Is that fair? What did u pay last week? If I chose not to work, I could get in government housing, food stamps and welfare. State would pay for daycare, healthcare, hell everything. This is fair to anybody reading this thread? I bust my ass for what I make. I made some good decisions in my life that put me in the job I have. Sorry if u were an idiot and decided dropping out of school to persue a career as a stunt double didn't work, but don't tax me for your stupidity.

You're paying the exact same percentage of payroll taxes as a stunt double, so that's as fair as it gets. Actually you're not paying SS over $90k so you're making out better than the stunt double. Your income tax rate is 15% assuming you don't get a refund, also pretty fair when you look at what every one else is paying. What am I missing here? How much do you think your taxes should be?I paid 350 in federal withholding. 80 in social and 70 in FICA. Is that fair? What did u pay last week? I wasn't talking about the people who didn't work. I was simply saying that if the tax rate is 20% (arbitrary number) and you make $100k/yr, theoretically you would pay $20k in taxes. If I make $50k/yr at the same tax rate I would pay $10k. I'm not questioning your work ethic nor do I appreciate you calling me a drop out or an idiot. I work just as hard as anyone else for my money I make and the taxes I pay.ffmedic4143 wrote:

@ medic: wasn't calling you one. My sincere apology for coming across any other way. To chaos: the way the tax structure is set up is not only unfair, but peonalizes (sp) people for bettering themselves. My fix for all of it? A flat SALES tax. Across the board. If you make more and spend more, then you pay more. If I choose to save $50k this year, then I don't pay in as much. I'm rewarded for being smart with my money and planning ahead. I also believe there should be ZERO taxes taken out of your check. You never really miss it. But if on April the 15th you had to write a check to the IRS for your tax bill for the year, you would start demanding tax reform.
-
@Mech Apology accepted. A sales tax would be a little more fair, but then what would states do to make money? We pay 6.5% sales tax where I live on everything except food. Sales tax would quadruple if Uncle Sam had to have his share.
