That's some incredibly delusional reasoning. Name just one society in modern history that forcibly removed it's "undesirables" and went on to thrive. Shit, name just one societal culling experiment that didn't end in complete disaster. Our strength comes from how we care for the weak, not in spite of it. Damn

Fnord, I think you believe that people can change. Am I correct? I believe that the VAST MAJORITY of people do not change. And patterns of behavior that I see back that belief up. Patients having to have their room switched because they are sneaking to the vending machines to get chips and other junk food when they are not supposed to have anything to eat or drink because they are having a procedure in the AM, or because they are exceeding their fluid restriction for the day. Im sorry but I don't have much faith that these people will all of a sudden wake up and say "OH MY GOD!!! I am costing society a lot of headaches. I better become more compliant." Maybe in your world everything is rainbows and lollipops but not in the real world.
-
Also no I didn't think that everyone would be compliant and all that shit. I also didn't realize that every day I would get report on at least one patient and would hear "He/she was discharged last week (or two weeks ago) for the same thing."
As for your last comment "Get your shit straight or get out of the business". Kiss my ass. My shit is straight. This is my opinion and that is all it is. I don't like noncompliant patients and I don't try to hide that. I also don't treat them any different. I still try to educate them. Everyone gets 3 strikes with me. I will attempt education for anyone. Ill go so far as to look up information and print out and explain every little bit to them. I just think that the limited resources that we have shouldn't be wasted on frequent fliers who are noncompliant.
-
Do you just ignore all of your problems keyser? Notice how problems don't go away unless you fix them? Kinda like those damn fat people.
-
That's the thing, we all get frustrated by other peoples behaviour. People get frustrated by your behaviour for whatever they think you may be doing wrong and you get frustrated with them for their addictions. Addictions, I might add, fed to us for a lifetime by our society (money). You ever read wheat belly? This shit is thought to be as addictive as crack basically. Everyone's willpower is different. It's human nature to be flawed in these ways. We know things are bad but we do it anyways - be it eating a big mac or texting and driving. So who's to police these people that can't control their addictions? Where's the line? Are we looking to have a totalitarian society? No, which is why we have he political foundation that we do.
-
Again we can't or shouldn't get rid of a program based on a few bad apples. Life is ying yang. Where there is good, there is bad. All we can do is progress towards more good like we have been doing through modern times. The solutions are never on the surface. It's not with changing that one person that doesn't know how to put down that pack of cigs. It's changing their environment so they don't pick them up in the first place. That requires better preventative health and education. Something our country is in the dark ages with compared to the rest of the modern world. We lost our footing. The words "we are number 1" no longer hold true when it comes to any of these societal measurements. We may have been the founders of freedom and progress but our growth is stunted by greed and short sightedness.

No. I work my ass off to fix my problems. Why should we be responsible because someone is morbidly obese? When are people going to take responsibility for their actions? Why do we have to babysit all the jackasses in our society?Do you just ignore all of your problems keyser? Notice how problems don't go away unless you fix them? Kinda like those damn fat people.

Keyser,
I get it, some people just refuse to help themselves no matter how hard you try. The question is, what is to be done with these people? My opinion is that you keep trying and never give up, knowing that if you change just one person's life it makes it all worthwhile. Your opinion is that they should be left to die for the supposed good of society once they've crossed your three strikes threshold. Fair enough, agree to disagree. You can make excuses and sugarcoat it all you want, but it's obvious you've given up on humanity and it's time to move on to a different career removed from the public trust. You can't try to make people well while wishing them dead at the same time. You can't stack human beings into piles marked "save" and "discard". Lashing out at me for pointing out the obvious changes nothing. -

I don't know they all disappeared from Canada. Funny how that happens when taxes pay for healthcare and strict government regulations are put in place. Weird. People aren't born to submit to societies ways, they are taught to. Some may not adhere to certain societal standards, but thats what's great about living in a society that supports each other. Find a way to solve your problem, you not having to think about the issue isn't a solution.★MΛΥΗΞΜ★ wrote:

Fnord, mayhem, and Saelo (you deleted your comment before I could read it but question stands), what kind of work do you do? And where in the thread did I say I hate my job? Just curious. If you can find anything saying I hate my jobs, I'd love to see it!

How do y'all like this one? Dialysis patient refused blood at dialysis because he "had somewhere to go". Same evening he had to go to the ER because he was weak. Surprise, he needed blood. H&H of 5 & 17. Blood at dialysis would have prevented his admission. While being admitted, his meds were checked at the pharmacy he uses. Lortab 10 was filled Jan 17, 2013. All his 5 BP meds and his Coumadin were filled in September 2012. Oh and he had a kidney transplant in 2005 that failed due to noncompliance. So he has taken an organ from someone else and is currently taking a bed that easily could have been avoided. Fnord, wanna donate him one of your kidneys? He might change!!!!

If you were a tollbooth operator and you said you wished those cheap losers wasting your time digging for change would just die so you could give more attention to the good ones, I could give a shit less. It'd be a little weird, but whatever.
You are a front line health care professional at a hospital which the taxpayers are subsidizing to a large degree and you are saying you think some of your patients should be left to die. For that reason alone you have my full attention. You chose this career. Caring for people who can't or won't care for themselves is part of your job description. When you are caring for that non-compliant patient, you are doing it on behalf of the rest of us taxpayers. WE are your customer. We appreciate and respect the work you do BTW. Now, please show us and the patient we are caring for some god-damned respect and stop wishing them dead behind their backs. A little professionalism is all we ask. -
You'll never understand where keyser is coming from because you will always make excuses for these people.
