Well that was just uncalled for. Why you angry addi? You assume my position just from a silly comment? Pleaseeee. And Augustine, shame on you and your Obamaphone comment in the last deleted thread. I was going to take the time to explain to you how misinformed you are by that vote-buying propaganda scheme but screw it. If you don't know to research everything you hear before believing it valid then well...tsk tsk. There's a little bit more to subsidized phone service than the tea party would have you believe - (thats not paid for by federal tax dollars I might add)-going back to the 30's and specifically back to Reagan-Clinton-Bush for this particular bill. The cell phones just so happen to be cheaper than land lines now. I challenge you to inform yourself with the history and creation of it.

Sales taxes disproportionally affect the poor. But fuck them, right? You got yours. You expect them to climb out if poverty while putting additional barriers in their way.

I'm tires of people who complain about taxes which pay mostly for roads, education, national defense, social security(which you'll be glad to have when you're a senior citizen), etc. which our great nation would be nothing without

Replacing federal income tax with a flat sales tax would discourage consumer spending, which is the life's blood of our economy. Really bad idea for that reason alone. It would also be a regressive tax in that it would disproportionately affect lower income folks who spend most or all of their disposable income on necessities. We decided a long time ago that a progressive federal income tax was the way to go, any honest look at a flat tax will reveal it's major flaws. I somewhat agree that employers should not be in charge of withholding payroll taxes, although we tried it your way in the past and it turned out that too many people weren't responsible enough to set aside money for taxes so the IRS had to waste tax dollars chasing everybody down each year. It's good to question the status quo, but many aspects of tax collection exist in their present form by way of years of painful trial and error. Things are how they are for some very good reasons.

Really wanna talk about barriers? I'm an orphaned, drop out, convicted felon. For a solid year I had a loaf of bread and peanut butter and jelly in my truck everywhere I went. That's what I ate for a solid year. I put my nose down and worked and saved. Everybody in America can do that. Everybody is promised opportunity. No one is promised results.

At least they are putting it to good use, like giving themselves raises or bailing out their poor rich friends that helped put them in office.

I was happy w/ the tax cuts. And I believe that they are sustainable. A couple options to help sustain them are 1) refuse medical care to NON COMPLIANT PATIENTS (that 300lb COPD 1.5 pack a day smoker that we just paid for her second admission to the hospital in a week is a good place to start) & 2) All inmates in the prison system get a diet of bread, water, and bologna (The sheriff in AZ has it down to less than a dollar a day to house an inmate if I'm not mistaken) and no cable tv for them.

Try a nominal income tax rate of 32%, a sales tax rate of 20% and a gas tax rate of 60%.
God save the queen! -
I'm not gonna get into my thoughts on the taxes. I read your post this am and you were so angry I was afraid to post anything because I thought you may come through my iPod after me. Iv seen posts where your on blast but that was a case of woop ass ready to come out.

How about this, since you brought it up and I apparently misinterpreted your position on it based on my 1.5-2 yrs of debate with you on the forums (kind of get a feel of people's positions after time)...why not give your actual opinion on the matter. :)

I may be a little late at herring this point in, but here it goes.
I'm personally not opposed to paying higher taxes, I don't like it, but ill pull my own weight. The problem I have is democrats and democrats both seem to think taxes are the be all end all to our problems, but it just isn't so.
The money from the latest tax hike, or expiration of tax cut (tomato, tomato) is already gone. It funded the sandy relief fund. I ask why didn't private insurance take care of that? It's apparently because they didn't have the money. Who's fault is that? Someone should be heals accountable.
The latest budget had spending cuts and tax increases. Great! But it's $41 tax increase for every dollar cut.
I'll pull my weight, but the gov needs to meet me half way.

As someone said previously, just ditch the welfare system completely! Who cares how many will starve or die. We are only going back to Victorian times. Phfft, welfare is stupid for sure.
Honestly don't know how most people on this forum are considered human beings. So selfish and greedy. No consideration for anyone but themselves. Should be ashamed.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just curious. If you were an orphan and a felon you have been a drain on the taxpayers in the past as a ward of the state, as a felon by choice and as an orphan by no fault of your own. You've subsequently gone from being a tax liability to becoming a tax contributor. I'm guessing by your attitude that you feel you've squared the ledger and then some? I assume you are a heavy equipment mechanic and thus have a somewhat limited shelf life. What if you need help again someday?Really wanna talk about barriers? Federal Tax
State Tax
City Tax
SSI Tax
Medicare Tax
Excise Tax
Capital Gains Tax
Interest earned Tax
Property Tax
Beer Tax
Smoke Tax
I cranked my monkey tax
Honestly I don't mind paying my fair share for these taxes and probably a few other hidden ones I may be forgetting. I think my issue is the accountability on where my money goes afterwards. -

I'm in healthcare because I like helping people. However, since the new healthcare laws dictate that hospitals don't get reimbursement for readmission within 30 days for same diagnosis. In the case of my patient, her failure to stop smoking that 1.5 pack/day or stop eating EVERYTHING under the sun has led her to be readmitted within a week. For another example, a patient came in with a blood sugar of 1200. Check w/ a diabetic who is compliant. They'll tell you it's a bit on the high side. Anyway, that high level fed an infection like a super fuel. He went to have an abscess drained and coded. He had a brain injury from lack of oxygen. He has been in the hospital for over 50 days and is a self pay. Think we will see any of that? 3 guesses and first 2 don't count.Dude, why are you even in the healthcare industry?

need help again someday?Extremely good point. I'm smart enough to be putting money away now while the getting is good. I know people have it rough, hell I've been there for sure! I just personally don't believe that the government should take what they are taking. Got this weeks check today. I put in 50.3 hours and made 1561 for the week. 292 went to taxes. That's almost 8 hours if overtime that was taken from me to pay for BS.
