I didn't know that because my fact was wrong and I had a different opinion than you made me an idiot. And my numbers were off but the fact still shows tools killed more people than assult rifles (FBI if you want to check it). It is people like you that cripples economies and causes countries like Greece and slows what you call "global progress". And if you are such an "intullectual" than explain why American crime rates are lower than European crime rates. And if I'm stupid than what does that make you? If the government decided one day they would like your house what would you do? Sit down in the middle and peacefully protest until they remove you from your house???⚡🏀ʟєցi†ßɑʟʟєʀ🏀⚡ wrote:

Why does law enforcement need them? To protect themselves from well armed criminals trying to harm them or others? Sounds a lot like what many are saying on here. We want the same ability to protect ourselves in the first 5-10 minutes before law enforcement arrives.I am an avid believer that anyone who passes a background check and psych evaluation should be allowed to own firearms. I personally plan on purchasing a pistol in the near future. But I do not think anyone other than law enforcement and military personnel should own assault rifles. For the sake of shooting competitions make a number of these weapons available for rental at local firing ranges. These weapons are not necessary for hunting or protection. I do not personally own an assault rifle but know people who do and they only use them to shoot targets or other objects. I have not experienced any practical use for these weapons outside of war and law enforcement.

Only 5% of cops in the US ever have to fire their gun at someone. Only .5% shoot them fatally. It's not a big problem, cops rarely die and people are rarely pointing guns at them. Criminals will get guns if they try hard enough even in gun-free countries, but cops can be protected from these people with guns. Jeremy b is right about assault rifles not being necessary but banning assault rifles does nothing. after it was tried in the past, president Clinton said that it didn't help crime rates or deaths by assault rifles at all.Jeremy B wrote:

My source had an error and the true number of deaths from police shootings is 1/3 of that 5% (or 1.7%). my source was credible but their was a more credible one with more realistic numbers in it. The 5% is correct from my original source.YOU wrote:

Assault weapons offer a uniform platform for a large military force or police force to train, supply and be competent with. It is not the best form of self defense to repel an attacker. It's essentially a .22 long projectile on steroids. They are not extremely powerful but they are accurate and that cuts down on accidental casualties. If you attack my house with an AR, I'm not concerned about who will get shot. Military, police and targets, all they are food for period. -

Own a GUN lol. Damn spell check

Come and try

Big Stanky is right. AR-15s are an offensive police weapon. They weren't routinely issued to police departments until the Hollywood Shootout, in order for police to have superior firepower than can defeat suspect body armor. A handgun is a defensive "oh shit" type of weapon. An AR-15 is typically offensive.

Guns will NOT be banned. Remember what happened last time the government tried to completely ban something? For the idiots, I'm talking about Prohibition.

What you say R.E. at-15's is true, it's not what I'm going to grab if I hear a noise downstairs. However several of the proposals mention many other firearms which are valuable for defense. I wasn't just saying don't ban ar's, I was saying if LEO's see a need to have a class of firearms to use against bad guys, I can see the same need.br>
