The only time I don't carry is at work.
I take my weapon with me wherever I go. I even mow my lawn with it on my hip.
And yes, I have had to draw down on someone before. It was about two months ago. A man approached me and my family at a gas station. Things went bad (I'm not going to get into it) and my weapon was the only thing that made the asshole change his mind. So before everyone jumps on the bandwagon, keep in mind, my weapon is the only thing that evened the odds for me and kept everyone safe, even the idiot asshole.

I'm not sure the criminal element is what is attempted to resolve with gun control. They will get guns regardless, the mass shootings are not committed by known criminals - obviously criminals after the fact. It's these shootings and specific weaponry that are the target. If the gun isn't available ......

You're making this too easy. You speak for yourself. So if you want to refute my point(which evidently was not directed at you) then do so with facts. Are you actually going to refute my statement, that specialized professions requiring guns have a lasting psychological effect on the person? Or just make some more smart ass remarks?✰MAΥHΞΜ✰ wrote:

If you need to be armed to feel safe....you need to move.My opinion on gun control:
If guns kill people, then pens and pencils causes spelling mistakes, cars make drivers drunk, and spoons and forks cause people to be fat. 😜
Being armed, I feel much more safe. Especially being female.
What we need to focus on is funding on mental healthcare. Most of these people who commit these acts have a history of mental disorder.
Do you live in the USA?

Proves that you guys can't refute a claim with a valid argument. -
Quote fail.
Let me explain. I stated that someone with a specialized job requiring them to carry a gun are more likely to be pro-gun. You guys said that cannot be, and proceeded to back it up with an example, the three of you. I must be wrong if three people are gun advocates and don't require it for work. I proceeded to post an example of a gun advocate that is required to carry for their profession. When you guys can't address my first issue, you proceed to try to over analyze every little thing I say. -

To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens. - Adolf Hitler.
I dunno if Hitler actually said that. A friend said he saw it on Facebook so i dunno how reliable that may be. -

"That means the United States is responsible for over 80 percent of all the gun deaths in the 23 richest countries combined. Considering that the people of those countries, as human beings, are no better or worse than any of us, well, then, why us? "

I'm not arguing my opinion, which you fail to see. I'm arguing your opinion with my facts. I know, you're confused. -

Here is a peer reviewed study. I suggest everybody read it. It's only 46 pages.

Short version in two parts;
Few events obtain the same instant worldwide news coverage as multiple victim public shootings. These crimes allow us to study the alternative methods used to kill a large number of people (e.g., shootings versus bombings), marginal deterrence and the severity of the crime, substitutability of penalties, private versus public methods of deterrence and incapacitation, and whether attacks produce "copycats." The criminals who commit these crimes are also fairly unusual, recent evidence suggests that about half of these criminals have received a "formal diagnosis of mental illness, often schizophrenia." Yet, economists have not studied multiple victim shootings. Using data that extends until 1999 and includes the recent public school shootings, our results are surprising and dramatic.
-
While arrest or conviction rates and the death penalty reduce "normal" murder rates and these attacks lead to new calls from more gun control, our results find that the only policy factor to have a consistently significant influence on multiple victim public shootings is the passage of concealed handgun laws. We explain why public shootings are more sensitive than other violent crimes to concealed handguns, why the laws reduce the number of shootings and have an even greater effect on their severity.
