Cathy didn't tell you how to live, neither am I. I respect your religion, if you would hear me out I would talk to you. But obviously you don't like my beliefs either.glman wrote:
I don't give a damn about either one of your testaments. They have nothing to do with my life. I come from a tradition many times older than christianity. Why should it apply to me? What gives you or this cathy guy the right to try and tell me how to live? Go ahead and believe what ever you want but leave the rest of us alone.OneThumbBastard wrote:

I will not be involved in a huge fight here. But I beleive that the old testement is still a part of the bible, but the rules there are no longer applicable, I follow the law as is taught in the new testement and there it says there also that homosexual marrage is wrong. So I don't beleive those apply unless they were set forth in the new testement.?

You say all this crap about how you respect other beliefs ect ect. But this owner of whatever company funded a campaign to stop/hinder the law changes that allow gay marriage to happen. To say he was right to abuse his high status and wealth to ensure that other peoples freedom was hindered is corrupt and wrong.
It wasn't a small sum either, it was millions of dollars which came from the profits of that company. To defend this person is just insanity.

Since its so hard for you guys to read the extensive thread that's already there, this is what it comes down:

Now if it's really that hard to understand why people are up in arms about hate crimes and discrimination, then the ignorance lies with you. Just because he covers it up with pretty words like family values, doesn't make it right. Far from it.Chick-fil-a donated $ to a group called "Exodus International" whose purpose is to completely wipe out homosexuality. Some of this money went to Uganda where a new law nicknamed "kill the gays" bill makes hanging gays legal. Killing someone for being born differently is a hate crime and someone who would promote it despicable in my eyes.
That said, it's a personal choice to support this company. It's no business of state of federal government.

There are also corporations who donate millions to pro-gay organizations. It comes down to beliefs. Considering it isn't a freedom yet, you can't argue that. He was exercising his freedom to his beliefs and his property(money). Don't call me an idiot.glman wrote:

These facts are wrong, one of the companies they donated to, gave money to another organization which pushed for CHANGING of the wording in said bill, they were concerned that it pointed out homosexual contact as a human right. No money went to support the removal of said bill. (by the way, the government should support NO companies, as this would be a gateway to socialism and against the constitution. Unfortunatly, this has already happened.)Trauger Jogger wrote:

Look, I don't have anything against gay people and I think that they should do what they like. IT'S NOT MY BUISNESS. But I think that it was very very wrong that Cathy and his buisness was put under fire after his words were twisted into something he didn't say. We have rights here and freedom of speech is one of them. If you don't agree with the guy then don't eat his damn food. It's as simple as that. There is no reason for this story to be this big and for it to last this long.

The first Dwarf House was opened in the 40's with the same beliefs, why does it just spark big discussion now? I'm not agenst or for gay marriage I don't care who you marry it dosent matter to me.

6. It's not very fair. When a company (like Nabisco, maker of Oreos) comes out as pro-gay, they are applauded. No Christians say they are being "hateful" to them. But if it has different beleifs, they are "hateful" and should be forced to change their beleifs. Talk about double standard.
So I got one flaw in your logic here... Christians don't say that supporting gay marriage is hateful because they are not taking anything away nor preventing them from doing something.
On the flip side I understand getting upset that people are anti-gay marriage because they are actually having something taken away or put out of reach for them.
I'm not on either side of the debate jus pointing that out to you... I'm just "pro- do what makes you happy as long as it doesnt hurt nobody, shut up, and mind ya damn business"
Aside from that I thought this country was founded on religious freedom... Jus sayin

The thing is, we aren't supposed to be a culture based on a particular religion. Our country is built on people from all cultures, and our laws are supposed to protect the rights of all cultures. Christians are free to be Christians, and everybody else is free to be whatever they want. We aren't supposed to be a Christian country. We're a free country.YoungP wrote:
