Wait! The growl was after the shot! He shot FIRST, OMG he growlled! Good thing I shot him! It makes no sense.I love when people bring this argument in that small calibers won't have much of an effect. Yes, I acknowledge that it won't do as much damage as a larger caliber. But, it is still punching a hole through your fricking body. 98% of the population would react as I would and freak out. The other 2% would look up growl at you and continue to eat their face filet sandwich. Laughable that you think a person that growls at a GSW would accept a stomping so easily.
Florida school board shooting.
It didn't even occur to the gunman to react to all the little bullets hitting him.
That's why the marines don't like 9mm. It doesn't stop people with elevated adrenalin fast enough. When it comes to drugged out zombies, I think blunt-force would have been more effective.

Yes, let's subdue a person that has chewed the face off another person just so we can spend millions of dollars trying to rehabilitate him and defend him in court. A bullet is a much more cost effective method of solving the problem. Our society doesn't need people like that.

The law must be applied evenly. Are you saying all criminals should be shot on sight to save taxpayer dollars?

Has anyone not put two and two together?
Brown is a zombie, and here he is defending a zombie. Obvs.

"Here it is. You all seem to think this guy was a complete monster. A rabid animal. You have convicted him in your minds. He's not one of us. You are shocked and a bit horrified by him."
he was a monster I've dealt with people hopped up on drugs that are being violent first-hand and I'll tell you it is scary, these drugs make them crazy and super strong.
"It didn't even occur to the gunman to react to all the little bullets hitting him."
Except you know the gunman almost immediately fell to the ground and committed suicide, but that isn't a reaction....
"That's why the marines don't like 9mm. It doesn't stop people with elevated adrenalin fast enough."
Let's not compare the military to cops. Marines don't like the 9mm because they train to kill as fast and as efficiently as possible in battlefield situations. They have to deal with targets wearing body armor. Cops RARELY deal with people in body armor. -
YOU wrote: "It didn't even occur to the gunman to react to all the little bullets hitting him."
Oh and then the gunman preceded to kill himself with a small caliber weapon. But it was a pussy of a caliber anyways so he didn't kill himself as good amiright?

The Taliban runs around in body armor now? When did they start doing that?
Also, I will take my 9mm over any other pistol. Fast, accurate, reliable, and low maintenance. If you need more than two or three bullets to drop someone, then you need to practice more.

When Charles Whitman was finally subdued, the police then shot him point blank in the arm to blow off some steam.
It's understandable that this would happen.
But it's not how government is supposed to work.

Clearly you guys have not tried the bath salts, or experienced bad LSD, but I can assure you it was neither of those. Anyone who has taken bad LSD would know their time wouldn't be spent attacking people, but curled up and crying in a corner, possibly very ill. And bath salts, as fuckered as they are, are basic stimulants. Short of prolonged use(more than a week or two of constant, heavy use) would not induce that type of psychosis.
My best guess would be PCP.My thoughts exactly, this sounds like one of the many crazy pcp stories

Yes, they do at times run around in some kind of body armor. Maybe not the high-tech stuff we are using, but it is available. The Taliban aren't the only folks we go up against either.

Dude, don't teach me about firearms. A .45 does not penetrate body armor as well as a 9mm. Your argument is silly. But what a 9mm doesn't do as well as a .45 is make big holes in fleshy targets. It took 6 shots. Too long.YOU wrote: "It didn't even occur to the gunman to react to all the little bullets hitting him."

Except you know the gunman almost immediately fell to the ground and committed suicide, but that isn't a reaction....Now for home defense, I prefer a 9mm, precicely because I don't want to stop and kill everyone I shoot at. I want to have lots of little bullets, perforating the target with the necessary number of holes, and no more.

You mean when we provided the Mujahideen with weapons and training so that they could fight against the Soviets?
The Mujahideen and the Taliban are different.
Of course, 3/100 might have some ragtag kind of body armor. I think I heard of maybe 5 insurgents that had some while I was there.
Who else are we fighting again?

Before you render judgement on the officer I think it would be wise to wait for the investigation to be complete. That officer has to justify his use if lethal force. The Miami PD will review the case and judge what he did. The news is always sensationalized so we really don't know the whole story.
-
Who else are we fighting with or who else are we warring with? You are confusing the two.

@BN, every instance I have seen where someone shot an intruder in their home and not killed them, they have ended up being charged with assault with a deadly weapon. In their own home. I have three friends with felonies on their records for this scenario. If you shoot someone in your home, it is better to kill them. My understanding is the cops only want to hear one story. It makes far less work for them, and far less stress for the home owner.

So the Taliban are the zombies?
dam I did not see that coming.... -

This is exactly right. That guy already had those thoughts in his head. The drugs only brought them to the surface. The cop did the right thing.Who cares who shot who there's people eating other people! What the hell! And don't say it was drugs or LSD.
I don't use any more and haven't for a long time but when I did I did it all and I never even considered eating some ones face not even once. -

My concern is that irrational fear may have significantly contributed to the outcome, and that extreme measures were taken too quickly, which I feel is exceedingly rare among our extremely professional law enforcement personnel.

That said, burglary is usually not a violent crime. I don't want to kill a burglar just to avoid paperwork. If I shoot, it's only because he threatened me after I put the weapon on him. If you have 3 friends that shot people only because they were "on ma properteh", sorry dude. That's assault with a deadly weapon.

So police brutality (or a good old fashioned ass whipping as you put it) is better than shooting him? So the cop belts him in the head, handcuffs him and takes him to jail. Now what?
To suggest clubbing him with a shotgun (which most certainly could have killed him in a much slower and painful way) is better is kind of ignorant.
-
...and if you kill the guy, only to eliminate a witness.. That's pretty messed up right thar.

Now you are getting weird. Shooting is better than beating him and dragging him off to what... Jail? Obsurd! We don't do that here. Just kill him. Better for everyone involved. Well no, it's not cause they were "on ma properteh". It's cause they smashed out a window or kicked in a door to enter the place where their wife and children are. Two of the instances, the intruder had a gun. The third, sure that guy may be a little trigger happy. But I would not take kindly to someone endangering my family, and I would only draw my gun on a person if I intended to kill them.
