You are an idiot. Would you run up and tackle that guy off? Would you put your life/limbs on the line? You would have run away screaming. Why that cop did was right.an I cannot believe what you are typin on here. It's pathetic.......very pathetic.Frankly, the police officer was probably afraid of one or more of the following:
Blood diseases. Bites/infections.
Skin Diseases.
Brutality Charges.
Zombies. They don't get paid enough for that crap.
But that's why cops are so awesome to me. Usually, they take a ton of shit, show remarkable professionalism and restraint, and throw their lives on the line to protect the citizens. Pure awesomeness.
But in this case, there was no heroics. No restraint. No ass-kicking. It was "Ewwww, blood! I'm not touching that shit. Boom, boom boom boom."
Kind of disappointing.

Brown note-in an article it stated he did try something before opening fire, it didn't state what but said he did. Further on you want the cop to kick him in the head or tase him, it wouldn't have worked the cop shot him in the fricken shoulder and the guy didn't let up, a boot wouldn't have done anything. I've had to restrain drug heads myself, if you haven't done it you have no idea. They have otherworldly strength. Before you go on thinking im a cop , I'm not I've had to do it in EMS situations. Although I'm sure won't count much for you since you've already showed your bias with the firefighter/cop comment.

That "stupid civilian" comment came from a fire fighter I used to work with. It's the precise threshold of worth-while life risk his department applied.

My points were:
#1. NOBODY in this forum can say for sure how they would react when confronted with a situation like that because you've never been there.
#2. My opinion (and strictly my opinion) is the shooting is justified.
#3. I'm a firefighter/paramedic and I'm quite certain I've seen more than most lay people, however, I'm also certain wouldn't know how to react in a situation like that and my training would probably kick in and over ride any logical thought.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not saying the cop should be punished, really. My point is, this could have gone much better. Mistakes were made, as with all people. I would expect the police to be more unreasonably professional than this. Just me.My points were:

Unreasonably professional? Explain that more please.

Keep it to one thread maybe? 3 is a little stupid for something that is most likely just coincidental.

I watch police "brutality" videos a lot, just to argue with the hippies... And I am always floored with the unreasable professionalism the police maintain. "Shoot the bastard!", I say loudly to myself. Yet they don't, unless it's the last option. It's always clear self-defense, or clear threat of deadly violence... They don't often shoot unarmed assailants. (and I count a moving vehicle as a weapon, damn skippy.)
-
In fact... This is the first time I've EVER heard of a clearly unarmed individual being shot. It's just rare...

It seems to happen a lot in Seattle. And in Olympia, the cops seem to get edgy if they haven't tazed someone that day. I'm just kind of disappointed that nobody here has shown any concern for this, other than for the pending zombie apocalypse.
This is the first case of an intentional mistake I've seen. Accidents happen. BART, etc. But this is what I would call a borderline operational error. The worst possible outcome happened, and it happened deliberately.

But nekkid guy on the ground? Any physical act will protect the victim. He can't bite face and take a shotgun butt to the head at the same time.

Brown🎵Note😲 wrote:
There are obviously several things you don't know. A "knee in the back" isn't going to do jack shit to a guy hopped up on drugs. A tazer wouldn't have even fazed the guy. The officer had to do what had to be done.He wasn't actually eating his face. Just biting it. 75% removal.
And in the absence of further information, in this case I think the poor guy should not have been shot.
What? "Uhhh.. We uh, couldn't tase the perp, because the electrocution could have transferred to the victim through like, his nakedness. So we shot him a lot."
Was the guy armed? (thats my big question.) Why couldn't the police subdue the guy? They don't know how to put a knee in his back and use handcuffs anymore?
Super-strength, my ass. Maybe pain won't stop them, but bone and muscles is bone and muscles.
"Once it took 15 police officers to subdue a Bath Salts user.."
No, but that's how many you used.

Oh, most certainly. But I know this: almost ALL PCP or "bath salts" (legal, by the way), maniacs are subdued by taser or other non-lethal means. Look it up.Why wouldn't it work here?
You. Just. Don't. Give. Two. Shits. About. Drug. Addicts.
Admit it.

Perhaps you got the wrong idea from your firefighter friend. We in the fire service typically have a black sense of humor, it's needed at times to get through either frustrating or tragic situations. He probably twisted some fact on the rule of thumb we use when operating at emergency scenes. "risk alot to save a lot, risk little to save little". I can assure you that no department has a certain threshold.§αʋcɛ☠BʘՏՏ wrote:

You are absolutely correct I don't give a rats ass about drug addicts. I do what I can to save them from the mess they caused themselves, then turn around 2 hours later and explain to someone's child or someone's parent why I couldn't save their loved on from a heart attack or car crash. So no I don't give a shit about them because 2 weeks later I'm pushing the same drug to make them breath again because they won't or in some cases can't get help for the problem they started doing. It isn't like drugs are a new issue and nobody knows the dangers.

Brown, that situation is so far outside of anyone's experience it's very difficult to qualify the reaction. Hindsight is easy. To be there, then. Maybe not so easy.
