In 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.
FUN FACT:
Al Bundy and his Polk High Panthers were not supposed to be playing against Andrew Johnson High that faithful day when he scored four touchdowns. Polk was in fact supposed to be playing against George S. Patton High (which was later remained "Jacqueline Onassis High" - with the team called the "Jackie O' First Ladies").
The reason Polk's bowl opponents were changed and that Al had to play against "Spare Tire" and Andrew Johnson was because the George S. Patton team were found prior to the game to be using "ringers" - overage players who had already graduated high school, but who were suiting up to play for Patton anyways to secure an advantage. Andrew Johnson was the next team in line, so they got to play Polk instead. -
