Actually, we are, in fact milk drinkers = mammals. Which is why we actually produce lactose (milk) when lactating after giving birth. An enzyme in our bodies breaks that disaccharide into simple sugars our bodies then further process into a ton of other useful basic biomolecules. Breasts wouldn't make milk if we couldn't handle it. Lactose intolerant individuals are lacking in that enzyme or have it in lower levels. It can be managed in several ways. Some can't drink lactose milk products but it isn't as common as you think or the species wouldn't exist. It's an intolerance. True allergy/anaphylaxis is really rare. Stop googling and go to school. I'd suggest biochemistry/biophysics.

All mammals drink milk when they are young. None but humans(the dumb ones) drink milk after that. Humans milk contains enzymes that allow humans to break it down. Cows milk does not have these enzymes. The enzymes are produced in only about forty percent of humans on average. These people who produce lactase only do so in presence of lactose. Lactase never exists independently of lactose in humans after the age of two, meaning even if you are in the forty percent that produces it you won't always have the enzyme in your system.Actually, we are, in fact milk drinkers = mammals. Comparing breast milk to cows milk is ignorant.
I have a BS in BME bitch.

I'd wait for a retort ultra but you are probably studying biochemistry/biophysics, I mean googlng...
-
Renin and lactase both break down cow's milk in the human body. Cow's milk is obviously made for cows, but it is still an excellent source of calcium, vitamin D, and alternative protien. We eat a lot of things not produced by a human body that our bodies don't even process--they can't. Cellulose in many vegetables is a good example. We process starches instead because of one chemical bond turned a different direction. To imply to people that a food group is wholly non-beneficial in a public forum is a rather blanket statement. And name-calling is really unnecessary.

"bitch" may have gone too far, but you were flaming first with your "go to school...." you came off like you thought you were so intelligent so I probably should've called you arrogant or pompous rather than bitch.
You are right about one thing, I made a blanket statement. Humans are not meant to consume milk. I never included the words "except breast milk during infancy" because I thought they were obvious.
-
And then you adviser them to drink raw milk from the farmer who raises the cows. That's a contradiction, if you ask me. I agree with the raw milk, but you can't say we don't process it, but you should drink it. We make plenty of lactase until at least age three. It does decrease then. Renin helps out and many believe non-additive (minus the hormones/steroids/etc.) milk is still beneficial in terms of maintaining bones and teeth, etc. Most of the world has no option other than cow or goat milk and in those cases they usually have it in their own yard. (Heck, most people around here have a goat or seven and cows for milk).

I shouldn't say "believe" because actual research shows milk helps prevent osteoporosis and other calcium deficiency and vitamin D deficiency issues.

I can just see some idiot thinking "there will be no fat kids if we take away the pop machine". Once again it is the parents who will teach their kids good eating habits or not.

Gee you lot are lucky in the states. I forget how many times I had a fresh air sandwich for breakfast and lunch at school hahahaha

"If you are going to drink milk you should drink raw natural milk from the farmer who raises the cows"
My exact words. If we're going to have a debate please do not misquote. I never said you should drink it. -
Wow. Getting a bit emotional over milk aren't we? Science will never truly know what's healthy for us and what's not. Best is to just wing it.

You do realize that they put the vitamin d in the milk? They do the same for orange juice. In fact I am drinking a glass of oj with calcium and vitamin d minus all the nasty stuff and side effects that exist whether you notice them or not.

Tile for my final thought. First off to the few that don't know I'm also hyperthyroidism. I think the whole original issue with the girl is notjing more than well intentioned over government gone wrong. The beautiful irony is that the little girl would've gotten a healthier meal had the govenment stayed the hell out of her and her parents business. A perfect example of why the government should not be getting into the minute aspects of our lives

As for milk like any food it obviously has its pulses and minuses. That's why everything should be in moderation. It's been proven many times the best diet is a little of everything and not too much of any one thing.
-
The best way to get calcium is through almonds, soy, citrus, and greens.
-
Can't you just drink the milk anyways? A lack of benefits doesn't necessarily constitute harmfulness.

In my opinion, how dare the government and its affiliates try to govern what we eat?
You watch. I'll bet that by the time our children have children, they'll have to use special government regulated hand sanitzers every time they go to the bathroom, and they might even have to keep a logbook on toilet trips. -

You read that right. Milk can cause osteoporosis. Get your calcium and vitamin D from nuts, fruits, and greens and stay away from milk.
