Should it be allowed? I say no. Too much risk of too many bigotries of the parent being passed on. It also can create too many social disorders in children
-
Yes.
Probably. That's not all bad.
Not really. It just shelters us from stuff that happens in school like drugs and alcohol.

In Germany it's a jail sentence to not send your children to public school. USA should take this stance
-
I am a product of public school and feel that a parent should be able to choose how his or her child is educated. Do you think a parent should be allowed to attend a parochial school that refuses to discuss evolution in science class? I do. Who do you think knows best about his or her child? Who knows best for your child? As soon as the system takes away a parents right to be a parent the system will collapse.

Most of the weirdest kids I ever knew we're homeschooled. And they didn't know they were weird. Jussayin.

I've been in public school, and I've been homeschooled, and I have to say, public school isn't for everyone, just like alot of people couldnt take being homeschooled.
I couldn't hardly stand doing either.
;) -
Ok here's the thing I was public schooled and homeschooled and I am currently in the ninth grade. The reason do many homeschoolers are weird is because they don't get much social reactions with people. An as the u not having extra access to drugs Belial when u were in public school is because it's a generation. I had a friend of mine a couple of years ago who was only 13, and was kicked out of his house and school for taking, smoking, and selling weed.

There are many places where sending your kid to public school does more harm than good. In Germany, are there such vast discrepancies from one public school to another?
-
I'm home schooled and I get Fridays off and I sleep in and get out early. Its the best invention ever
-
Also Germany brought on the killing of thousand of Jews because of the Nazi's, they also probably taught all the kids who was in public school at the time in Germany that Hitler and killing Jews and the Nazi's were all good. So do u want America to become like Germany?

No homeschooling. Seriously, it's a joke. Parents can just teach practically nothing to their children if they really wanted to. Too much room for abuse. And having a parent which probably doesnt know EVERYTHING enough to teach all the subjects isnt the best idea either. Social awkward children who have no other contact with children from school also. Biased parents teaching things like creatism to their children and ignoring evolution and things under that catagory. I don't see how anyone can see it good to be homeschooled over regular schooling.

And I could get my hand on any kind of drug during numerous times throughout the day even if I didnt go to school. Damn. That's not even debatable. It's freaking easy to get your hands on some drugs.

I have been homeschooled/public school, American schools and Foreign schools oh and private schools. Hands down the best education I recieved was in a European school. From what was explained to me was schools recieved funding per student and that the parents had a choice of where to send there kid. If a school provided a better education then the school made more if the sucked then the school closed.
-
I think parents should have the choice where to educate their kid. Although I would not home school my kid because it probably doesn't look great on a college app.

That is the point. Who decides the truth? Once you put all the power to decide what truths are to be taught in a centralized body and eliminate competition amongst thought you take away education and you turn it into brainwashing. Education is all about learning to think for yourself. Learning to discover what is true. Is global warming truth? Is there a god? Was the earth flat in pre-gallileo(sp?) times? Maybe we should just teach everyone's child what you think they should be taught because you know the truth.shin-soo choo wrote:

"I'm a proud product", interesting way of looking at yourself. I agree though, public school is not evil. Nor is home school. What needs fixing is the way education is taught. Its as if students now in days are just products to people. Oh hey look at those dead beats, ah heck their just the waste products of the education system. I don't have an answer on what to change, but it needs a entire reconstruction.I am a product of public school and feel that a parent should be able to choose how his or her child is educated. I've also noticed that homeschooling makes you VERY closed minded.
Is it only me that's noticed this? I've only met a couple of homeschooled. -
Homeschooled kids don't really have social skills or know what's socially acceptable. And I go to a CATHOLIC school and I have easy access to drugs. I just don't take them.

There are pros and cons for both. I wouldn't say one is better then the other.
For instance my grade 10 and 11 international bachaloriette English teacher thought that the CIA was the canadian intelligence agency and the goose step was a boxing move. She also made us do a cut and paste assignment on curling. It was worth the majority of our mark that term because curling was her favorite sport. Cut and paste everyday for a month in grade 11. What a waste of time.
Now with homeschooling you probably won't get such a BS assignment since your parents will most likely have a more vested interest in your education.
At the same time public school is where you will learn social behavior and interaction. Although that can also be a bad thing. Peer pressure.
It all depends on who is teaching you.
