See I disagree that John is apocrypha. 1. It doesn't disagree with other books as ALL other apocryphal works do and I beleive (you'll disagree) that god didn't allow his word to be changed by man.Somebody explain the biblical basis for the trinity without once mentioning the obviousl apocrypha of John. You can't reference a guy's dreams in a research work.

You know, this would be way easier as a voice chat.
(That's a hint, Nick)
Not that I think that will happen. -

You do realize the people who wrote the bible changed some facts to make catholicism more appealing for the Romans and they didn't want pilot to be a huge douche.⌖🔥Belial🔥⌖ wrote:
I can appreciate your passion for debate.A normal guy who commited treason against the roman empire and was justly executed for his crimes
Even if you don't believe Jesus was the Son of God how can you say he committed treason? As he told Pilot when asked if he was king of the Jews, "My kingdom is not of this world". All of his teachings were basic common sense on how to treat your fellow man. His so called followers may have screwed things up but Christs doctrine is pretty simple and hard to argue against IMO. Cheers -

The people who wrote the bible wrote it years before catholicism. A group at nicene complied our current bible, but there are older copies that are the same. -
Descendent of Abraham and Sarah.
The jews have set their standards too high and are waiting for David. So Jesus is not their saviour.

No other spirit creature in the bible or apocrypha had to go nameless.
You can come up with explanations, but none that are not a stretch.

Maybe the holy spirit is simply what it says it is. God's spirit. Why not? Not complicated enough when it means what it says?

There are differing beliefs. The first is that since God created time, and therefore is outside of it he can see who has already accepted Christ before he came. (think about it) another is that since god sees the heart and not the outside he knows who truly believes him. I lean toward the first.I still want to know what happened to all those people before Jesus.

My view of religion itself is that it is all made up, and has evolved over the history of man into what is rapidly being rejected by society.Brown🎵Note😲 wrote:

The trinity is a fine example of the "Santa's Chimney" effect. It is weaving complexity in to explain away that some bible writers had their own agenda and style, out of sync from the others.
Obviously God allows his book to be corrupted... Look how many versions and varying translations there are.
John was obviously smoking something. That's why his writings are non-documentary. They are accounts of dreams and visions. His works stand out as different.

Imagine the bible without John and revelations. It becomes the historical record of verbally passed on stories along with some letters for the appendix.
Throw in John, and suddenly the entire theme of Christianity becomes confusion and fortune telling. If not for the inclusion of his work, the bible is up-front and straight forward.
Why do you think there are so many sects of Christianity?
Answer: John.

I believe that ALL scripture is god inspired and that is seen in how it NEVER contradicts itself and it flows perfectly. Translations differ only in wording, the message is still the same. John also wrote 1,2,3 John as well, AND there are other accounts of the things in revalations (Daniel). John was Jesus' closest disciple. He focused less on the Man/Miracles of Jesus and more on his teachings and his state as god just as the other gospels focus on certain points. The trinity makes sense because God is god, he can do what he wants. God is one being with three essences. Do I understand that? No. But do I beleive it? Yes. -
I guess it's not often that you encounter an atheist that has spent so much time studying religion.
I think the study of religion itself drove me from it.
It is hard to study several various religions and pick one at random to live by. As soon as you get that there are choices, you realize that at BEST only one of them is correct.
Likely none are.
Tell us why you picked the one you did.

Yes, it is hard to understand, I agree. Most things in the Bible are extremely simple, such as the Ten Commandments. -

Sweet! Because I dont believe jesus was god, nor do I believe there was an intentional intelligent design of our universe. I am the only god in my life. Also if what you say is true then it doesnt matter what religion you believe in. Since "Everyone has the chance to accept Jesus in their life, whether it's by that name or not."Wait a sec, I thought that christianity and jesus were the only true path to heaven? Shit, looks like we have a contradiction here.

Almost, except any scientific evidence of Jesus. He never wrote anything himself(cant do an analysis of his writing) and theres no possible way to do DNA testing since his mortal body somehow got out of the ground and ascended to heaven. Which is strange. Why is heaven up and hell below? I thought heaven was outside of our physical world so heaven could be in any direction. Or no direction at all.Agent XX3 wrote:
