Ohh... Here's Nick getting in on the debates. I thought you cut off the other debate threads like this. What happened? And I do know what side your on. Your not making it as hidden as your trying. No matter which side of the debate you're on, you have to ponder the question:
Why does America pay 2X what other industrialized countries pay per person, yet still have lower life expectancy, higher infant mortality, and rank #37th in the world for health care quality?

T Bock wrote: All the people need to do is get insurance to afford that stuff. Also what we had before works just fine if it's done right. Sonive also said this... Remove the problems, the people who take advantage of it all.
The whole point of the bill is to get people to get health care, so I guess you do agree with it. Opps.
And I'll tell you what, when you and your ilk get around to removing the people who you see as "problems" me and my ilk will make sure you're next. Deal?

night. T Bock good luck in your arguments I back you 100%. This was fun and I enjoyed hearing everyones view on the subject. I will be back on tomorrow to see how this has gone. -
Well I also doubt that the canadian insurance covers what they will come over for... Or more people would do it. The fact is that people who can do it will do it. Because what we had was a good system.
damn free inconsistent wifi at restaurant! I tried posting 3 times but keep getting dropped. Will continue later. Good discussion everyone.

Ya I worded that wrong... If you can see I'm talking to alot of people here. But I think that if we get rid of the people taking advantage of the system then doctors could make the prices lower because now they have to cover for the illegals. But with lower prices we can make cheaper care. And if we fix te financial problem people could afford insurance. Sorry for the confusion I tried to shorten it bit didn't do it well.T Bock wrote: .

youre not in america (clearly), so you really have no say in this discussion.Well if America wasn't so stubborn and if they just accepted a totally socialized healthcare system, then healthcare, in the sense of doc visits, prescriptions, aids, etc. Would be free, it would just result in an addition of tax. Man Up America.

Thank you China for paying for healthcare reform

So NICK...WTF is it supposed to mean when you say "how are you enjoying your taxpayer-funded free health care?". WTF kind of comment is that? You don't think military personnel deserve TRICARE? Or as you like to call it "free health care". Military personnel pay the exact same taxes as every other hard working American. How the fuck could you make a comment like that when there are Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines that are risking their lives day in and day out in Iraq and Afghanistan...let me remind you that many of them unfortunately don't make I back. Oh wait...guess the fuck what...we are the most powerful military in the world because of the benefits, such as health care, that we are provided. Have you ever had to look at one of your friends headstones at Arlington? Have you ever had to work to get the personnal effects of a deceased service member back to his 10 year old daughter that never got to say goodbye to her dad? ........
-
Have you ever had to sit down and provide some serious counseling to a service member who has PTSD and can't sleep at night because all he can think about are bullets bouning off the side of his helo? Let me guess...military personnel don't deserve health care for the sacrifices that they all make... Guess what motherfucker..I've done all that shit...and none of it is enjoyable...where the fuck do you get off making that fucking comment???
Oh, and i don't agree with this health care...but fuckers like you who make negative comments like that regarding healthcare and the military makes me glad they are increasing your taxes to cover it...en-fucking-joy. Oh, guess what? They aren't raising the taxes on the military because we receive TRICARE and the taxes we pay already cover that...why should I pay for your fucking ass?

AmenA few years back, the truck containing the tools that I made my living with was stolen from my driveway while I slept. The police found it a month later, empty and totalled in the bottom of a ravine. It wasn't anywhere as bad as finding cancer, but still pretty upsetting and expensive. Anyway, I found receipts in the truck that pointed to a meth addict. In trying to find a lesson in all this, I realized that, with our many essential laws that rightly focus on criminal behavior, our system largely ignores the cause of that behavior. In the end I decided that I'd rather pay a little more in taxes to help a stranger turn their life around than suffer the consequences of doing nothing. You know, help put the fire out at my neighbor's house before it spreads to mine.

@Street King
I think the point is why shouldn't Americans be willing to pay for their fellow citizens health care, and veteran benefits are an example of when we do pay for others health care.
If it's honorable to fight for your country and possibly sacrifice your life then why are the these so-called patriots suggesting people, asking for all Americans to sacrifice as well and far less, to be near traitorous?
-
I definately understand what the two of you are say...either way, if that's the way he intended he definately should have considered a better word choice to express that thought.
There should have been zero mention of the military benefit of tricare in this converstion regarding the new health care bill. Like I said, I don't agree with this bill, by I do feel that something has to be done with healthcare because it is out pf control.
It's a good thing im not a politician...I'm harsh and to the point...I don't care who people are or who they think they are...if I was a politician I'd take on some of the principles and foreign politicians have...if you have beef with another politican or don't agree with something you beat their ass right on the floor of congress...
-
My reason for jumping into this debate is I'm pissed too. As a healthy 30yr old self-employed non-smoker I'd have to pay $400 a month for half-decent coverage. For 2 doctors checkups a year - $4800. That's more than twice what socialized systems spend per person on average for everyone, healthy and sick. So fuck yeah, I'm uninsured.
Regarding the military - WTF did you get the idea I'm against them getting health care? Calm down. My point is it's easy to rail against health care reform when you're backed up by one of the best socialized medical systems in the world.
Try coming out from the government umbrella and making it on your own. Try starting a business, that if successful will provide salaries and health care for dozens of people and their families. Maybe then you'll know where I'm coming from.
-
A health care that is so great that the president, his family, an congress is exempt from getting. Also soon I will have same health care as illegal immigrants, who are committing a felony by just being here. I'm sooo excited I can't wait for him to pass legislation giving voting rights back to convicted felons an amnesty to illegal immigrants. Maybe if I commit a felony later in life I will get amnesty like the immigrants. There is a legal way to enter country, yes it's difficult, an there is a way to do health care reform rather than back door politics by voting on Christmas eve an at wee hours of morning.
-
Street king I have to say
-bravo- my family has done their part for our country since the civil war. I think military should get the best of the best. And I am like you in the way that if I was a politician i would be knocken some heads up there in congress. It's not right that they are held to a higher status than the rest of America. They are supposed to be u.s citizens just like us but except now they get better salaries and better and free health care that I have to help pay for. -
Yeah! Bring on a nation state where everyone is equal! Hang, that's communism isn't it....

This is a very touchy subject that I'm really on the fence about. Helping people who can't afford health insurance is great, the insurance industry needs reform too. But people shouldn't be forced to get insured and all that extra stuff if they don't want to. I don't know too much about this bill (just the basics) plus I'm on the fence about it, it has good and bad so I'll leave the debating to y'all.
To me this is like a miracle drug/medicine that has potentially bad side effects.

4). This bill is making people rely on the govornment more and more. And this country was founded by some of the best thinkers and invisionaries with the thought of less govornment.
5). This bill makes the doctors work for the govornment and have to treat everyone, this means they get paid govornment money witch will be less than what they are making now... If they have lives on their hands and have stressfull jobs but they still arnt making very much money then what's the motive? Wouldn't you quit and get an easy job that pays more? Makes sense to me.
6). This bill shows that the govornment thought one of the two things... That the people of America are like babies an don't know what thy really want and need. Or... The democrats just wanted to pass the bill to get a victory over the republicans. Because with the majority of America against it what other reason is there?
great thoughts dude I tottally agree 🎷©®™
