It was found yesterday! A planet 20 light years away is in the goldilocks zone! Not too far away from the local star and not too close! They've actually found water but don't know if it has life yet. Isn't this great?
-
Now how to get there..
-
Only 20 light years away. Not that far. Maybe a days trip?
-
U know we can actually get to Alpha Centauri in eight years using a dark matter powered rocket.
-
They don't know that it sustains life or even can. Only that the conditions are right that water could exist. But they dont even know of there's water there.
-
Cant wait to start planting turf there..
-
Only 120 trillion miles away. Could do a picnic there.
-
C'mon Nick : We need spaceports!

Still the closest they have ever found -

So there may yet be a girlfriend for belial out there....

Everything looks like life taken with a super telescope. But in person the water could be a sort of gas. We will never get there in our lifetime. So why worry? Even if we could get there, you got the $100,000,000 to get there. Turf wars money doesn't count. 🙍

A generational ship could make it.
It would be good to get all the eggs out of one basket! -

I hereby claim 10 square miles of said planet on the Coastal region containing50% land and water. (lol, better get in there early, could be prime real-estate in 50 years).
-
Would take over 300 years of travel with our current 'space age' technology. Plus 50 years of preparation due to a lack of budget. Why would anyone fund such an expedition anyway 😰
-
I was reading an article that said we could triple our travel speed in space in only a year if the US spent half of it's war budget on space exploration. They spend less than .5% of it at the moment.
-
Let's call the planet Reach! With a simple Slipspace jump, we can get to the planet in days!
-
Gnat shit out of pepper.
Of course there is life out there, but this is a longshot at best.

There are a lot of "we assume", "we guess", "we predict", and finally, "we have no evidence to support the existence of this planet" type statements.
The orbit measurement chart for planet d is already so "fuzzy", and I could not locate a chart for f and g at all. (unconfirmed)
Even if there is life, it is certainly impossible to go there in our lifetimes, even with an unmanned probe, and furthermore, there is no reason to try, other than for the novelty of the exercise. What will we do with a new type of slime-mold anyway?
Damn you kids and your irrational exuberance!
