Not into losing all life's little pleasures. Doesn't seem worth it to me
-
Thoughts are with you, just do what's right. Good luck!

I've had to cut out caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, weed, and strenuous exercise. I completely understand about "life's little pleasures." I also have chest pain daily and feel like I'm having a heart attack sometimes....but it's still better than the alternative. You just have to find different pleasures from life. It's also taught me not to let little petty bullshit get me angry like it used to. Life is just too short.
-
Ok here goes. I kinda see this from both sides. My best friend in high school was bipolar. When he was on the meds, he was calmer and did get depressed sometimes, but it was a lot better than the emotional rampage he was when he got off the meds and tried "managing" it himself.
Then there's my mother. The woman got on Prozac and kept taking higher and higher dosages of it until she became a drug addict. She kept telling her personal doctor that she was losing bottles and he would continue giving her more bottles (I don't have much hate towards people in this world, but I do towards him). So I think I'm somewhere in the middle. You should stay on your meds to keep your emotions down, just don't depend on it to the point that you're taking too much
-
Also, Belial I do and always will continue to consider you a friend. That being said, I have been more distant because I grew up around such emotional people in my younger years that I steer as far from it as possible nowadays. But I do care about you and I agree with the others who care. Staying off the meds just isn't safe for you.

If you aren't going to do something about it then what is the point of the thread? Dude, when you are in your right mind you are helpful and even fun in the game, when you aren't you enjoy the "look at me" game waaaay too much. That being said, do you want people around you that are just an emotional sinkhole? I kinda chuckle about all these I'm your friend responses, we are all acquaintances thru a game. Are there friendships, you bet, but are they true friends? Dunno about that, the best test would be to talk to the actual people you interact with and get their opinions as to your situation. This is a serious situation if it is actually the case and you are being extremely cavalier about it.Not into losing all life's little pleasures. Doesn't seem worth it to me

What you either fail to see or just don't care about is that your demeanor affects those around you as well as yourself. If you don't get help for yourself, get yourself help for them.

I've got a mate that has bp. She does a mix of meds and other exercises etc... Can't be any harm speaking to a proffessional just to see what they suggest. Either way, big respect for posting up on the forum and I genuinely wish you the best.

I'm not bi-polar, but I am dysthymic. I spent a month in 1996 in a psych ward after a failed suicide attempt. (suicide by car wreck is not recommended! 😄) Automatic Prozac.
I didn't like the side effects, so I decided to take my new cognitive therapy tools the hospital gave me, and dropped the pills.
For me, it has worked. When I have a bad week, I know what it is, and I know things will be better later.
People that discount cognitive mental treatment and insist that drugs are the only way disturb me.

I agree with you brown. I'm obviously no idiot and am pretty sure I can pull this off. This was kind of a message to certain players that I was trying bit going to do it my own way.

Brown, meds are necessary in BP 1. Dysthymia not so much -

Brown. Youre not a doctor.
B. Get meds to curb your mood swings. If not i promise things will get worse, it almost always does
But I have seen death, and I have seen the bottom.
I have also been extremely successful managing it for the last 15 years without medication. My mind is still broken, but I know how to survive.
Sometimes, people can manage their mental imbalances when they recognize what they are.
CBT is just as valid as psychotherapy, acupuncture, diet and exercise, and I would say drug therapy as well.
In the right mind, it is the best treatment. My doctors agree in my case.
-
Taking away the best parts of myself isn't a viable issue to deal with the bad IMO
-
Brown is right about CBT. The mind is a powerful thing.
Belial, you know you have friends. Now listen to all of them in this thread and take care of yourself.
-
People have turned their back on you for a reason you have given an explanation to help the TW community understand but this is not an excuse for your actions and behaviors. Seek out those who you have upset, apologize and begin to change your behaviors. Btw the real issue isn't that your friends have turned their back on you as your thread title suggests but rather that you have pushed them away....
-
Wow, didn't know this was going on. Belial, bipolar is serious, you should be on meds. But if your not up for it, do what you were doing before. Also stop pouring money into this game, and spend it on stuff in the real world, go dating etc.
Good luck with everything. -

I know I have been critical of you. You need to check into meds. KK said he's a doc. Im a nurse. Tellin you, they are doing a lot with different meds being used for different things. Some patients I take care of you could look at their medication list and never know they have Bipolar bc they are on different groups of meds. A lot of people use anticonvulsants as mood stabilizers. I've heard that they are even trying Gabapentin as a treatment. You said you haven't taken meds in years. You should check into them again. A lot has been done in drug research over past few years.
