Hey ill give you an offer. How about the US disarm all their Nukes, turn in all their military guns and ammo. I mean, the US has been on record for decades providing enemies with these military grade weaponry. Clearly they are irresponsible with this equipment. Lets do that so that no bad dudes can have guns.

Luckily it’s professionally trained people working for the Government who control the nukes. Can you imagine if they were given to the civilian population to fulfill the declaration you quoted? Nukes are a proven deterrent. Guns don’t appear to be.

Aug, apologies if I’ve not responded to one of your points. Please tell me which I’m avoiding and I’ll try to respond. I’m not big on following links in msgs so hence haven’t looked up all you’ve referenced. On your point about Government being at fault for Texas. Which bit is the Govts fault? Obviously there was a kid with a high powered weapon and the armed response guys not going in for an age. I have lots of queries, why did they wait if they had guns? Why didn’t others with guns go in and defend as per your declarations? You wait for a reason to show how good guns are and then no-one does. Is that the Govt too?

And i think everyone reading through this thread can see that you made my point about living on your knees trusting the government with “high powered” weapons and neglecting their duty to protect you. This will be an example.

Listen. I understand you arent going to agree or even change your mind about what you believe, i believe this thread is finished and my hopes are that folks will do their due diligence and see the points i made, the links and examples i provided and come up with their own conclusion.Nukes are a proven deterrent. Guns don’t appear to be.
At no moment did i expect you to fairly see my points, this merely is for those might a bit more Curiosity about the topic im addressing.
Thank you for the convo but i think we are done

Sorry Aug, you appear to not be answering my question nor various points I’ve made to you. It’s not the UK that feels it’s not protected. It seems to be your opinion. We don’t have your gun issues, have a better standard of living, and live in less fear. Why would we change to anything like the US? Can you really really not comprehend that?? If we had a second amendment here then we’d say yes that was a good move for our historic past but today we have different issues and therefore need to consider if that rule is still needed, or at least needs some additional rules to ensure it’s administered safely and for the benefit of the Nation. It seems to me that many US are stuck in the past and for some reason can’t see the facts staring them in the face.

If not for the 2nd amendment the US would still be speaking British

How can the government protect against a lone wolf ?
The police are not special forces !
Lax laws on Guns are the problem !There’s no need for members of the public to even own guns imo.

Imagine what the world would look like if *everyone* said “yes, let’s give up our arms” and “yes, let’s take whatever drugs the government tells us to.”
Bruh we’d all be fucking dead or enslaved 🤣
