Projected US total deaths.
Forums › General Discussion › Projected US total deaths.-
Medical Malpractice death tolls - 98,000
Smoking releated deaths - 480,000
alcohol related deaths - 88,000
Car accidents deaths - 38,800
Theres some more big numbers.... but i don't see the us in a panic over smoking or drinking. will kill ourselves faster than this virus. where's the mask for that? lol. where's the panic. it might be safer to stay home to avoid the smokers and alcoholics. -
I don't think it would be 10's of millions like mr brown would have us believe. but even IF it did. lets say a really BIG number... 1 billion. if 1 billion people died.... what would that take us back to? 2010? that would set the world population back 10 years? still leaves us with 6.8 billion people on the planet. around 1900 we had what? 1.5, 2 billion maybe? despite every disease, natural disaster and war. hell...despite EVERY death in the past 120 years we have still more than tripled the population. i don't think we are in any danger. should people be safe? yes. always. should things be blown out of proportion to the point causing panic? i don't think so.

ok these are old numbers too... 2018(when the flu killed 60k btw)... so they are prob higher now but its ok for the sake of conversation.
global births - 136,130,400.
global deaths - 56,764,800
by that count ... even if 50 million extra people died we would still be adding 30 million people to the world. All the death in the world , double it and we still grow. -
that medical malpractice death number was way low also, it's more like 250,000+ but it doesn't matter. 98,000 is still horrible.

A lot still depends on how people respond to the pandemic. We drove the 700 miles back from GA to SW FL the other day without having to get within 20 feet of another person while outside the car so felt fairly safe. Getting groceries in Florida was surreal however. A circle K for milk had 8 customers and 2 employees, none wearing masks. Tried Walmart grocery pickup and noticed none of employees were wearing masks and all were sticking heads inside of cars to talk to customers and show them sub items. I put mask on and stood outside of car since all wanted to stop by and look at the Tesla. Finally went to Winn Dixie during senior hour. More surreal because store was fully stocked even had TP, but again lots of customers and employees without masks. Going to be long summer. And no, 1 billion deaths would set us mentally waaay back farther than 2010...panic would be least of our worries then.

drug related overdose deaths 2019 - 69,029
U.S. Suicide death toll 2017 - 47,173and another way we are killing ourselves is through abortions. i know this is a sensitive subject and i'm not weighing in my opinion on the morality of it. this is just numbers of lives that would have been but now are not regardless of reason.
U.S. abortions reported to the cdc2017 - 862,320
2016 - 623,471
2015 - 638,169
2014 - 652,639
2013 - 664,435
2012 - 699,202
2011 - 730,322smoking , drinking, obesity , drugs, abortions, suicide we have so many ways of voluntarily killing ourselves and we argue for the right to do so and pay for it yet let a virus come through take a few from us and we panic.

obviously gay people are at risk lol.

If we all died tomorrow, that would also insignificant. There’s no limit to apathy when you are detached from those involved or really have nothing to live for or just don’t care.
It’s just different when it impacts our family and friends, or when we have any feelings whatsoever about the lives of people we don’t personally know.
There’s no call here for panic. But I’ll stay home until 2022 if the government calls for it, and absolutely I will stay home if it means my Wife will get through it without being carted off alone to a refrigerated truck.
What I’m not going to do is ignore the WHO, CDC, NIH, every doctor and their mother based on an ignorant conspiratorial hunch spread by some politically insane wonk.

it is different when it impacts us directly. and i said earlier. not only in the past years with higher numbers have i never known anyone to die from a flu virus. i've never even had anyone close to me, family, friends or work circles wear gloves and mask. not once. i admit... when looking at such large numbers it's easy to play things down. but it's just as easy to get unnecessarily worked up into a frenzy and lose perspective. i just want people to think before having that knee jerk reaction to go buy everything off the shelves and shutting everything down. is it REALLY necessary? or are we going through the same motions we do every year? is it consipiracy when the numbers are staring your in the face? you don't think anything is done for political gain? media sensation? state funding? corp bottom lines? i'm sure you are right NO ONE is benefiting from this what so ever. :). yeah . ok. I don't consider myself a conspiracy nut. but a realist looking at the past and present. if you wish, ignore the numbers.
-
on top of all of that... i'm 44 and haven't had a flu shot since i was in my late teens ... maybe early 20's. oh my god... what!? lol. soooo just lucky? before you start, no i don't have a conspiracy about vaccines. Just don't like going to drs and not fond of needles. i'm actually a believer in science and medical advances. i do have some reservations ... maybe conspiracies in some areas... but for the most part i believe in the good of medical industry.

logic with some name calling , and a "fuck you" from earlier i guess. but ok. I'm not dipping down there with you brown. I've never said brown wasnt logical. and i know he see's and understands the numbers.... so it's not blindly ignorant... but may willfully obstinate? At any rate, i really hope no one gets carted off in a meat truck. to each their own.Brown🎵Note wrote:

*Disclaimer* just in case I die within the next few weeks of covid-19, brown was absolutely right about everything and I was a jackass :) dead and loving it.

So it’s for Medicare patients, not everyone, who receive inpatient treatment. It says nothing about requiring the patients to die.
There are probably some corrupt admins that will try to take advantage, but that’s no reason to assume everyone will. That also doesn’t necessarily mean inflated Covid deaths in the final analysis. Hospital admins don’t determine cause of death.
It’s healthcare making the decision to provide the complex data tracking and therapeutic responses for Covid, regardless of the underlying condition. They will respect advance directives, but will not change the coding. Death or recovery- it will be billed as Covid treatment as well as billing for any other treatment provided (not covered by COVID) for the underlying health condition. It’s a bit more complicated than ‘‘twas or twasnt”.

People read what we write here, and some will use it as just the little push they needed to lick the tops of “Ensure” cans at Costco as a social media joke.
That shit just really pisses me off. But again, that’s just me. I’m not saying you are intentionally encouraging stupid people to do stupid things.

Differences aside there’s an awful lot of people who can look at those numbers and make their own conclusions.
And no, absolutely no one thinks those fucks licking ice cream or whatever else they are doing are funny.

Oh hell no. I think those people should be prosecuted. Along with the kids opening ice cream and spitting in it. I can’t stand that shit.

How many other viruses killed that many in a month, hmmmmm? I mean, after a total lockdown, of course. 🤪

Good website showing the US by county and associated current risk of hospitalization overload. Also has modeling graphics by state and county.
I don’t know the organizations politics or funding sources- so I cannot provide where their bias may be.

I remember some website maybe it was Vice or Slate made a model like this based on random data that gave Clinton a 99.4% chance to win the 2016 election the morning of. Anyway, brown I’m sure you could make a website like this and put different numbers that I made up into your model based on my “predicted hospitalizations if we lift restrictions” to say we’re perfectly good to lift them all now. It is a cool idea for a site though∞🪓Persephone🌲∞ wrote:

I look at the map and wonder to myself if the National policy and approach being directed for all areas based upon the impact in very urban and densely populated areas hit hard by the virus? It is apparent that rural areas are on a different timetable- additionally it is highly likely that rate of transmitted would be a lot lower due to little to no high rise buildings, mass transit systems and the like. In my area, most people live at least a 1/2 acre from a neighbor, shop less frequently & generally don’t carpool.

Yea sorry I wasn’t very direct with my criticism. That was the first thing I checked and yes that’s accurate. What I was complaining about was when you click on a state it gives you three predictions, the first one is accurate (how many hospital beds are in use now) the second one is likely accurate (how many beds if we social distance for 3 more months) the last one is ridiculous and speculative (how many beds we’ll need if we lift restrictions).℣į₭ϊ₦Ǥ👹 wrote:
