Regarding the baby:
“Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) on Wednesday confirmed that a 6-week-old baby had died from complications related to the novel coronavirus, marking the state's first pediatric death attributed to the disease.”
https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/490654-connecticut-confirms-death-of-6-week-old-baby-linked-to-coronavirus%3famp
“The infant did test positive for the COVID-19 virus and an autopsy was done at the [Office of the Chief Medical Examiner],” Chief State Medical Examiner James Gill said, according to CBS News. “At the current time, we have not issued a final cause of death. There are numerous tests that we must do on infant deaths before issuing a final cause of death.”

“While cases in infants are typically mild, doctors are still working to understand the virus, including how it affects children. While the symptoms of respiratory distress, a cough and fever are similar, doctors have reported COVID-19 cases where children experience stomach distress.
Last week, a child under the age of 1 died in Chicago after testing positive for the coronavirus, according to Illinois state health officials. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.”https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.today.com/today/amp/tdna177363
The baby had Covid and died. They didn’t know the baby had Covid until after the baby died - the test was done during autopsy. If Covid wasn’t the cause it was highly likely a contributing factor. Not a lot to be said though until the COD is released.
-
“The new coronavirus has chiefly affected the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions, but a number of recent cases have highlighted that it can affect people from all walks of life. The dead have included a 13-year-old in France, a 12-year-old in Belgium and 13-year-old Ismail Mohamed Abdullah in Britain, whose family said the boy had no underlying health issues.”

-
“A 42-year-old woman in Arkansas with no pre-existing health conditions (and who had never been hospitalized before, according to her sister) felt "a little sick" on March 15 and thought it to be a cold or a sinus infection. After developing shortness of breath and cough that wouldn't go away, she was admitted to the hospital on March 24 and tested positive for Covid. She was put on a vent in ICU and, after 4 days (on March 28), she died.”

“The coronavirus pandemic is the worst global crisis since World War II”
~ UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres....this is a classic ostrich with their head stuck in the sand denying reality. There is a tsunami of not only bodies piling up in the short term but longer term societal and cultural changes that will occur in the aftermath after we process the event.
You can deny they’re coming but they are unavoidable. Don’t panic, but do the math, trust the science and start thinking about the changes to your life after this event. There will be many.

... plug the numbers into an Excel sheet showing continued 12% daily compounded growth. Statistics.

It’s really not too useful to compare covid to h1n1. 2009 h1n1 luckily had only a .02% mortality rate so only killed 160k to 500k people world wide and 12,500 in the US from spring 2009 through spring 2010. That’s with 60 million cases in the US. Helped a lot that US already had testing capability and meds to alleviate flu severity. Covid brings the unknown fear factor with a 2% mortality rate and a bit higher transmission rate and probably equally scary is the high percentage of symptom free carriers. That and no treatments yet and vaccine a year out. Was hoping it could be killed off like SARS was but think we’ve lost that battle.
-
I’m also guessing that covid is going to have a genetics factor for mortality. Too many instances of whole families getting sick and most or all of them dying. Even that recent incident in the small town of Albany Georgia...people attended two funerals (normal deaths if I recall) and then 29 people died as a result of covid caught at the funerals. Massively higher percentage of mortality and you would think that would be statistically relevant but never hear a peep out of our leaders on statistical analysis of variance or anything about that. Just seems odd.
-
Btw, the inference I was getting to was that most of the people that attended the funerals were obviously related or local so shared much the same gene pool...and some of those that died had covid passed on to them after the funeral.

@ daisy...It’s a slippery slope looking at data and using compounding equations. Extrapolating data can be very misleading. Many many factors play roles in its course.

When I read these posts I keep thinking of Monty Python. Any fans? 😂. Pulling carts down the street yelling.. Bring out your dead.. I I haven’t watched that in probably 25 years. That scene just keeps popping up when I read these worst case scenario data. Have all these zombie and apocalypse movies lately possibly impacted our psyche?

I’m not trying to be ghoulish, just projecting what’s going to happen in the US over the next 30 days.
April 2 - 6070 total deaths
April 3 - I’ll predict 6798
April 4 - I’ll predict 7614
.
.
.
April 30 - 144,975I so hope I’m wrong / misguided. Will take a month to see. Take this thing seriously if you’re not.
-
Guessing most people who think it’s minor still are in areas less or barely impacted. That will change everywhere in the US. NY has mobile morgues and tent hospitals built in parks to deal with the deaths.
The virus had yet to spread much throughout many areas of the world. Hopefully, border closures, etc. will prevent that. However, I already lost 1 family member and another is seriously ill and may not make it. A friend of a friend, who was in her early 40s and otherwise healthy, also died.
Y’all forget the virus has only really been widespread for a short 2 months now. I hope your areas are spared the worst of this. Life is terrible in NYC right now.

Just an updated set of graphics from abacaba. Sometimes it’s easier to visualize what is going on with graphics than just raw numbers. Unrelated, but also check out Bill Gates plan on helping by building 7 facilities, one for each of the possible virus remedies/vaccines...just so manufacturing will be ready when one of them pans out.

BREAKING NEWS: just coming out on twitter connected to the situation. Gov. Lamont has lied. The infant died of a horrible unintentional accident and NOT Covid-19. Full details expected soon.
Where are all my “you’re an idiot for questioning the media” folks now?
Thanks 🎤

Yeah, not something I would hang an “I told you so” on. The debate on numbers and who is right and who is wrong serves no purpose- in my idiot opinion- at this time.

Yeah dude....um....congrats. Classy. Btw. I just googled and don’t see it, but I guess I’ll take your word for it.

Lamont just had a press conference and when asked about the infant replied “I do not know how the infant died. Only the medical examiner would know that”. This sick fuck just put so much stress, fear and panic into new mothers that they didn’t need. Dude should be public ally stoned for this shit.

Here’s the actual video of the idiot fumbling around the answer about why he straight up lied. He has NO IDEA how the infant died but sure as fuck said he did. Everyone should be outraged by this. Yet no one is. Odd right?
