College is already free. We can audit courses all day long for nothing. Knowledge and learning is everywhere if you really want it.
90% of my education happened after college on my own time and effort.
I worked my way through college as an adult. If you major in something that’s valuable in the marketplace, and not some SJW liberal arts bullshit, your loans will be paid off before you know it.
College used to be more affordable before the government started throwing out grants and guaranteed loans so that colleges could start jacking up the price... What will happen when it’s “free”?
-
@Brown
The same thing that happens with everything that’s free. The value of any degree would become non existent.
If you give kids free books, you’ll realize that they just get drawn in and torn/ripped.
Make the kids pay for the book, and you’ll discover every page is spotless.
Most people fighting this argument either have never been to college, or haven’t been in more than 5 years lol.

As a college student half the time those books you refer to have nothing to do with the course or the way the professor teaches it is just mandatory for the professor to have a required textbook so college students can pay for something they can’t evade
-
@ Curtis
You have a good point. I downloaded all of mine from a site on the .Tor browser so I wouldn’t have to pay. Some prof would get upset with me when I wouldn’t have a physical copy, but when I expressed to them that it’s literally the same thing but just on a screen, they’re usually chill with it.

False. Well, depends on the career. Finance, engineering, or computer-related fields? Yes. Anything else? Maybe not. Try getting out of law school, more than 100K in debt with a 10%+ interest rate, and starting at $80K. Or teachers finishing their MA over $100K in debt and making $35K a year.

And maybe a college system that doesn’t leave entire bloodlines in debt. That’d be great.

Teaching is not a career that makes money, obviously.
As for law school, I’d throw that in the financially viable pile. I mean really... all those hungry lawyers out there..

To back you up, I think lawyers are the type of people to have their financial shit absolutely 100% together. They’d probably be able to avoid a huge chunk of that debt if they play their cards right.⇚❹☠❶☠❺⇛ wrote:

This is my point. Not only did i train myself after college, but my first 2 years was a repeat of high school. All the calculus and programming courses i took, even the chemistry, english and history classes were garbage. I was bored stiff and thoroughly disappointed in what is considered higher education. I quit trianed myself and was making more money than my friends that got degrees in comp sci. The education is free for anyone willing to do it themselves. Yes i realize this does not apply to all fields. but i bet it covers alot. I doubt most need someone to stand up and lecture to them. Just download the books and cover the material yourself.
-
Not to mention that if a professor doesn’t like you they can make up some reason to fail you. That system is shit. I had one programming class after the first week or two i showed up for just on test days and would ace the test including a 100 on the final, but he wanted to fail me for missing a homework assignment. Lol i laughed at him and called him a joke. It’s not a meassure of skill, intelligence or aptitude. And those professors don’t deserve their salaries. I would prefer to just read the material and do assignments without their interference.
-
I can see a something requiring a higher degree of scrutiny around especially law and medical degrees.... but i’m sure there’s plenty that could be adjusted down.
-
Put the material out there for free. Let people train themselves and come up with a good testing method to make sure they really know what they are doing and cant cheat the system. Get rid of or reduce the number buildings and most of the professors. They can move on to private tudoring. I’m sure there’s people that would rather listen to someone talk them through something.
-
I’ve also had so many stupid professors try and press their political views on their class. It’s the cringiest thing ever.
-
Or yall suggesting without the financial obligation people lack the will power to push themselves. No motivation to do it on their own? Maybe their life as been too cushioned? They have no drive to be better?
-
Cool, fuck it, let’s close all schools and just put it all online. See where that goes. 😂
-
Free College huh.... how serious do these kids take their free HS education....ya I don’t think so...
-
sooner to happen: we get our 4000 free hench or the US gives free education?
-
Theres serious kids who push themselves and theres kids that give up and dont do shit. I dont think that will change. Saying all kids will do that is like saying legalize pot and everyone will be getting high. It wasnt a real argument for that and i dont think it would be any different for education. There are plenty that would love to better themselves and im sure there plenty who wouldn't. Fuck em. If someone else is willing to bust their ass to provide for them and their family i dont care where they come from. I pick the hard worker over the lazy fucks that think the world owes them something just because they were shit out and started breathing.

It’s so funny hearing people say the wall will never happen and it just slowly goes up section by section. My hometown is walled off now 😁

Why are you lying? Congress approved replacements of existing walls, but nothing new has been funded or constructed. This is verifiable info.

Now I know not to take anything you say seriously. On June 3, 2018 the San Diego section of the US border wall construction began. On October 26, a two-mile stretch of steel bollards in Calexico, California was commemorated as the first section of Trump's wall. <- this is what verifiable info looks like.☠︎N͙ΔPΟLΣΟΠ☠︎ wrote:

I will correct myself and say it’s not completed, but there has been MORE progress since October 26th as well. #buildthewall

C’mon man, stop being ignorant and read. Both SDG and Calexico were replacements for existing border walls that were deteriorating. I believe Calexico used one of the possible prototypes, but it still replaced existing wall. None of that construction was brand new construction.

God forbid any brand new construction. Replacements are cool, though. It’s critical that we maintain exactly the same level of border security and not improve it one little bit!C’mon man, stop being ignorant and read. Ok. Once we have this Great Wall of America, will America be great again?
