Jailbreak.
Forums › General Discussion › Jailbreak.-
I have an iPod. 3.something os. I'm not planning on pirating apps as that's not my style. So what I'm asking is jailbreaking worth it to me?

Yes for full customisation.

Google it...

If you really, REALLY care about changing fonts and colors, then go for it. If you absolutely require 5 spots on the bottom row, and don't care about QA, stability, security, or any kind of support from Apple, do it. Maybe you dream of Android OS..
I did it once and then put it back. I have all the apps I want already, and tricking out the skinz is for kids.

Most of the stuff I seen is themes and such. I don't really care for that. Photo backgrounds look like crap on the springboard.
I did it to just get mywi. And I did change a couple things. I have actual numbers for signal sytength instead of bars. Got rid of "AT&T" on the status bar, and the little spunky wheel thing has been replaced with a pulsing Steelers logo.
I don't see much use for jb beyond that for me.
-
Oh, and SBsettings. I love SBsettings.

hmm. This is kind of what I'm thinking. There are a couple infersting apps I've heard of. A better wifi locator and a way to hook my iPod to my computer through Bluetooth to use the keyboard and save $70. And 5 slots on your dock is very useful so is mx tube , that's a real winner !
-
Also, zToggle. Great app to kill multitasking in iOS4.

Yes, as long as you can restore it. If you can restore it, why do you take it to Apple? You can't say that jailbreaking has never cost anyone $700.Brown Zombie wrote:

Jailbreak=save money and other things you don't need at the expense of a relatively stable platform.

I've got loads , inifinidock ( get up to 50 apps on ur dock by scrolling left and right on ur dock ) , infiniboard ( u can fit a load of apps on 1 page by scrolling up and down), 5 row springboard, categories ( better folders) and brackgrounder ( multitasking for devices that can't use apples multitask) to name only a few. I did have sbsettings but it drains ur battery.
-
I like my3g also very useful
-
I haven't noticed any battery drain from sbsettings.
what is the point of infiniboard? just to change L-R scrolling to up-down scrolling?

There's reasons why Apple doesn't allow some apps on the App Store. Take for example MyWi, drains battery and goes against AT&T contract. SBSettings because it has bugs (crashed me and my friends springboards very often).Keyboard , loaders , dock , special apps that apple Wont allow tweaks tools multitasking options widgets video backgrounds ect search dinozambas u tube channel he really knows his stuff
Perfectionist? Go for tweaks that are so fine that you won't even notice it after 3 days of installing.
And I think the 3rd gen iTouches already have multitasking.
Widgets and animated backgrounds drain battery life. Why draining of battery is so serious? Drove my iPhone from 17 hours of idle to 5 hours. All I had was winterboard, SBSettings, and five-icon crap.

Because u can only go left and right nine times (I think ) but with infiniboard u can fit about 50 on a page times 9 = 450 apps compared to 8 per page 9 times = 72 . I know nobody will ever get 450 apps but I have over 72I haven't noticed any battery drain from sbsettings.

Love the jailbreak! The customization stuff is cool. Not needed but cool. I also use lock info, basically lists all your notifications on the lock screen. I refuse to upgrade my os until I am sure I can get the jailbreak back.
As for stability I haven't seen a problem yet. **knocks on wood**

Restoring won't work sometimes. Must remember to set up as a new device or you're screwed, because of you don't, JB fragments will be left over.Brown Zombie wrote:

I've noticed my unjailbroken iPhone 4 is slower than when it was never jailbroken. It is now much faster than when I had it jailbroken. -
If restoring doesn't work there's that way of completely resetting it , when u plug it in when it's "disabled" (like when u guess the password wrong loads of times) u hold the button while it's plugged into a pc and it blanks it and then auto resyncs
-
Hmm... Someone should make a turf wars theme for winterboard. That will get him to jailbreak it.
-
Don't have the guts at this time. The software I was going to use said the version for my os can crash and I should update to os 4.0 fist which is of course no longer available. I'll wait
-
I'm on 4.1 and jb.

ChainsawCharlie wrote:
yeah. I don't want to update to the slower os though. You used green poison?I'm on 4.1 and jb.

limera1n.
I haven't noticed any slowing down.
