I have a SUR 13 tattoo hahaI live and raised my kids in Chicago suburbs. Crime everywhere. At a young age I have thought them to respect firearms and even let them hold them and help clean them. Firearms are always at reach.... of my oldest .... but never loaded. Only my oldest knows where the loaded magazines are.
✂️
They are given airsoft guns to play safely and i keep them in sports that allow them to shoot others with plastic pellets or balls of paint. Plus it helps with thwir aim if someone ever breaks in.Interestingly enough never has a gun follwed my kids to school. Teach them young but teach them right. Only 3 people you can shoot.....

2. Daughters Boyfriend

probably a parenting issue, as well as some mental issues.

That 9 year old should have had a comprehensive background check, and shouldn’t even be allowed to purchase assault weapons. What we really need is longer waiting periods. If only it wasn’t a high capacity magazine then a 9 year old wouldn’t be able to commit a mass shooting like this. He had no business dealing drugs in the first place, and if he couldn’t fly, he shouldn’t be able to buy!„A 9-year-old boy fatally shot his 13-year-old sister in Mississippi on Saturday afternoon when she refused to hand over a video game controller, authorities said.“

Oh, wait... It was none of those things. You just want all guns confiscated. Oh, I see.

I think that people who own guns should get an extensive backround check and have manditory gun handling classes unless they are an Eagle scout because by that time, you should already know about how to use a gun properly. This also includes if you are a girl scout and rcved the golden award.

Nothing sells guns like gun control.
-
It’s all a moot point. There won’t be any significant gun control in the US in the foreseeable future. Gun culture is too embedded here. But I will say that, aside from any war veterans here, most of you have never had to deal with the emotional toll of gun violence. You see something on TV, get charged up in a pro- or anti-gun stance, and return back to life. It becomes a lot more complicated when someone pulls a gun on you. Or you see a body on the sidewalk. Or God forbid you get the call that a close friend has been shot and killed. Hey, I’m a gun owner and don’t want my guns banned, but understand that gun issues aren’t as cut and dry as regurgitating talking points.
-
Well 415, I’ve had to deal with the emotional toll of my best friends wife and another’s 17year old daughter both taking their lives with a gun. Doesn’t mean it has anything to do with gun control. Vets don’t own the issue any more than us law abiding folks do. To suggest otherwise seems irresponsible and an emotional response argument imo. While I agree Nothing will change in the short term I can Also see theres a societal shift. Go ahead and pass all the restrictions you guys want and you’ll see no changes in gun violence. When my buddy was 12 he could walk to the local five and dime and buy ammo for his gun and go shoot cans off of the fence. This wasn’t too long ago either, now we have to show ID when buying ammo and have way more gun violence these days. So under stricter gun laws than 30 years ago we have more violence....yeah it’s a gun issue 🙄

Banned dumb muthafukas.
-
OU & Frost - 1st of all, I’m sincerely sorry for the pain you’ve both dealt with. No one should have to deal with the violent loss of a friend or family member. And understand I come from a somewhat neutral standpoint, which is probably kind of rare these days. But I have lost over 20 people to gun violence, including my best friend. Yeah, 20+ people. And what’s crazy is I’m not uniue. Many people I know have lost more. There were times it seemed my entire neighborhood was being annihilated by gun violence. It’s endemic, especially for a 1st world nation. And you’re right, OU, there has been a shift — although gun violence today is substantially lower than what it was in the 1970s, 80s, and early 90s. So what’s the difference between, say, London and Cleveland? Or the US and France or Spain? And what role does the proliferation of guns play in the differences?

For once I agree with this guyAutomatic weapons are already illegal . No such law exists that will prevent these things from occuring. It is already against the law to commit murder ! Does it stop criminals from doing it? No!! It is against the law to speed and roll thru stop signs but does it stop you from doing it ? No !! Imo family values and morals play a big role in these events ... problem is nobody gives a shit about anything anymore . Id like to have a gun if a criminal decides to attack me or break into my house ect ect so im pro gun👍

Its not a gun issue. Logic says if guns are the same, laws are stricter but theirs more violence its a problem of society and the parents raising these kids. Everyone wants to blame someone else for their bad ass kid. Take responsibility. That’s like blaming the liquor company for your kid being an alcoholic. STOP. Its nobody else’s fault except the person behind the trigger or the bottle and how they were raised. Oh they are a free spirit, or let them figure out their identity on their own lol. Laughable. Same kids that don’t respect their parents or anyone else’s life. Why should they?? There’s no substitution for education nd discipline. And it starts at HOME before they are thrown in school.
-
This kind of stuff doesn’t happpen in other first world nations. It’s not education / discipline. It’s not values / morals. It’s a culture that really really likes guns. If you really really love guns as a country, people are going to be shot.
It’s OK. Just say ‘we love guns and if some people have to die, that’s who we are. I could at least understand that.
-
Think culture alone accounts for the rise in violence? It must have changed significantly in the past 50-60 years. Same guns and stricter laws.... sounds like gov is doing its job we are just hell bent on getting around it. “We love guns”, we love the freedom is more appropriate, still doesn’t solve the prob. Iv always been pro gun yet never had one in my house until now. Still haven’t been to the range to fire it yet but that’s on the list right after the wife pops out that demon inside her. 😈

Can we break it down by state? Which cities/states have the highest firearm homicide rates per capita? Would you guess that the places with higher per capita gun ownership are the places where the murder rate is highest?
Or is the murder rate the highest in places that tightly control firearms, or even ban them all together?

... I truly don’t understand why someone as smart as you is trying to turn gun death statistics by country into ’fakenews’. I’m Canadian. We’re next door neighbours. 5x more Americans die by guns.

America is what 5x the population as canada ..
