You are correct CC. But societal and moral values need to change first.

It makes you stupidWhy would you vote no? Have you seen the figures in terms of revenue that can be generated if it was controlled and regulated through governments? Not to mention the sheer amount of criminal dealers that can be elliminated? Oh yeah, and also it would be goodbye recession with a lot of new jobs surrounding the import/export, the shops ect ? It really needs to be legalised as quick as possible.
Jim, what does your wife think about the long lasting effects of pot vs alcohol?

Confusion, depression, difficulty concentrating, disturbance of smell, dysarthria, euphoria, facial pain, heat sensitivity, incoordination, lacrimation, monoplegia, sleep disturbance, shivering, syncope, and tremor.Arrhythmia, changes in ECG, hypertension, hypotension, pallor, pulsating sensations, and tachycardia. These were less than one tenth of the COMMON side effects of sumatrptan. Sounds lovely. I rest my case -

Legalizing it won't keep it out of the hands of kids. You aren't supposed to be able to get cigarettes if you are under 18, yet tons of kids still manage to smoke.
For something that's not supposed to be addicting, I'm amazed at the number of people that sound desperate to have it passed.
Weed doesn't make my world go around. I don't live with or hang out with people that smoke it.

My take on pot. In high school I worked at Mcds and during that stretch I worked around a handful of kids that smoked pot. For the most part I didn't hang out with those guys outside of work. I made a crew of close friends while working there and remember a couple of times where I saw one of my friends start getting into pot. And when it happened I saw their personality change for the worse. I wasn't one who ever preached to them about quitting or treated them different, but they still acting much more like an asshole and quit caring about anything in life except getting high. It was sad to see how the focus on their life and their personality changed.

The government wastes time and tax payers money trying to fight it.
Society would not have the arts or culture that we do today without it.Have you ever smoked it yourself?

yep and so the only hope of CA ever getting out of the recession is gone. I don't understand. People would rather be poor amd hold onto false morals. It's sad and u an trully ashamed to be a Californian. I hope this state fails and unemployment goes above 50%. Then again it's already happening as California is economically the worst off stateFailed.

I just don't understand how people would rather choose unemployment and recession. It doesn't make sense.

I have no problem with weed. That being said, making it legal would open a bunch of unseen doors. First where would the money really go (i.e. lottery for schools, yea right), employers that have no drug policies would now be required to allow someone to work w/ a positive test (cant tell when they smoked, maybe on a break, maybe last week), what would the drug dealers do now that you took their income away, different more violent crime? Do I care if you smoke, not really, but legal is not the answer either. Just my opinion.

Cmon B. California's economy is not gonna live or die because people didn't vote for 19.
CA unemployment is bad, but not the worst. Our economy is bad, but not the worst.
Did you get out and vote? My guess is no because you feel that your vote just wouldn't make a difference.

You can't go by highest dollar amount. You have to go by percentage. I'm sure we are up there, but not highest.

I'm a conservative. I have never tried any illegal drugs. I think those that do use illegal drugs have personal issues.
That said, the federal law that includes cannabis as a controlled substance is wrong. The federal government has no right to ban such a relatively harmless substance. The decision to ban it should be left to the states.
We don't keep laws that limit our personal freedoms without good cause. I see no good reason to handle this issue at the federal level.
We have the freedom to drink, and smoke, and get fat and die young. Freedom comes with baggage. We are either free or we aren't.
Just my one cent.

I own a house, I have a morgage, I own my car, I work 6 full days a week, I like to smoke some weed and why not? I take responsibility for my life. Anyone can rationalize any choices to conform with their opinion.

I created this topic because I love discussing controversial topics and seeing how people can view a subject so differently.
