CA VOTERS LEGALIZE POT?
Forums › General Discussion › CA VOTERS LEGALIZE POT?-
The true problems stem from poor education. If people were educated about it then there wouldn't be the same problems.
-
I'd vote to decriminalize weed.
Especially, if I lived in California where the enforcement costs add billions to the states massive budget.
-
I'm not going to debate this topic in any length with people that are so close minded as to believe that it should be classified with other illicit substances.
I didn't see anyone mention the wasted money that's spent trying to stop it to absolutely no avail. All those wasted enforcement dollars and jail sentences that we pay for.
Meanwhile it is on every street in every town. It is just as available as if it were legal and look the world still turns.
Legalize it and if you don't like it, don't smoke it. If you think society will turn to 💩 look around because it's already a mainstream pastime.
-
The problem comes down to who laws are passed for; are we going to say something is categorically dangerous, i.e. it's bad for everyone in all situations, or are we going to set limits for those people who make bad decisions and abuse the privilege? The answer doesn't have to be totally legal or totally illegal. Set up boundaries like what we have with where people can smoke or how much you can drink. Trust the average person, punish the ones who abuse.

Move to so cal. It's legal now for you. You are exactly who medical pot is designed forI just want to note, in real life I'm pre-glaucomic. been treated for the past 7 years or so. smoking weed really does help neutralize inner ocular pressure. I equate my minimal degeneration to my controlling it naturally. it would be nice to obtain legally and for some kind of rx coverage.

All drugs have side effects. Fact. Alcohol is by far the Drug that most negatively impacts society. In fact if alcohol had only just been invented now it would be classed as illegal. Drugs should be legalised simply as a form of control. Keep the bad guys out. Downside. There will always be people who prefer to waste their life being high. I'm not talking about those who use recreationally but those who abuse drugs and negatively affect society. Legalising a drug will not increase their (abusers) numbers at all it will simply allow those who do use to be sure they are getting a product without "impurities" shall we say. As for me. I'm off out for a few 🍻🍺🍻 👙😻.
-
Definitely they should legalize it
Put the 16 year old drug dealers using our public schools as distrabution centers out of business

This discussion has shown me that people on both sides of the argument speak with a lot of passion. In my opinion few people spoke with informed intelligence on either side.
I voted no, but will not be upset if it does pass. There are people out there that truly need to smoke weed. I did smoke pot when I was younger and i enjoyed being stoned way more then drunk. I haven't smoked in over 20 years because I'm very anti-drug and felt like a hypocrite when smoking.
-
So you don't drink either?
-
I drink socially. Never get drunk anymore. I don't enjoy the feeling
-
I just wanna through this out there. Weed makes the world go round. And second I drive stoned every morning to work I have never been in an accident and never even had a ticket so your wrong about it causing accidents and stuff. Also noone has ever died from weed that's a FACT but ppl die from alcohol poisoning and other shit so end of story
-
I have friends who smoke weed... And let me tell you, as much as I hate the drug, I hate the fact that it is able to be abused by kids. My generation shouldn't have access to that type of crap in their system. It definitely causes problems in minors.
I'm a for legalizing it. Keep it out of the hands of teenagers.
Like I said, altered states of mind are disgusting to me. I won't discuss it at length, but neurology is a tricky subject. I had a friend go completely beserk on weed.
I'm undecided on it. More for, just so those fucking dealers don't destroy kids with their messed up shit -

Well actually no. There is nothing wrong with alcohol in moderation. You can't associate that statement with cannabis. It's different when a drug is prescribed, with recreational use comes social issues. Alcohol already has social issues, along with gun and knife crime, we don't need to add to the list anywhere in the world.zraygo wrote:

It makes you stupidWhy would you vote no? Have you seen the figures in terms of revenue that can be generated if it was controlled and regulated through governments? Not to mention the sheer amount of criminal dealers that can be elliminated? Oh yeah, and also it would be goodbye recession with a lot of new jobs surrounding the import/export, the shops ect ? It really needs to be legalised as quick as possible.

weed grows naturally (sometimes) alcohol is created. If the natives were given weed they would have sat down and thought about the deals they were making, but they were given alcohol. Why? It's not for everybody, but keeps me sane in this world full of morons:)-

You guys have yet to answer my earlier challenge - name 1 good, non-medical reason it should be legalized.
Legalizing it won't keep it out of the hands of kids. You aren't supposed to be able to get cigarettes if you are under 18, yet tons of kids still manage to smoke.
For something that's not supposed to be addicting, I'm amazed at the number of people that sound desperate to have it passed.
Weed doesn't make my world go around. I don't live with or hang out with people that smoke it.

The immensity of ignorance in this thread is appalling. The rent is too damn high!

Not true. What abt people who suffer from migraines? Sumatriptan is one of the best drugs for it. I can name ALOT more tooJim Dirt (Add A1) wrote:
our pharmacological system is crap JD. Most of the drugs we hash out are far worse than the diseases themselves. It's only based on money not helping people. You can "overdose" on pot. You have to work at it and the results are not pretty. Don't try it. As for medical use, if there are benefits that only pot cam provide, then pack the thc into a pill and prescribe it like any other drug. Our pharmacology system has worked well for along time on everything else. Pot doesn't need to be a special case.

Mystery:
1.) Marijuana is a GREAT natural way to relieve stress; doctors are prescribing people wayyy too many anti-depressants without proper diagnosis. Some of these pharmaceutical medicine is known to have many adverse side effects, whereas marijuana does not.
2.) Humans are social and creative creatures, if theres is will to obtain something, there is a way. If we use government regulation of marijuana, you will be putting the product on store shelves, not in the hands of 'drug dealers' who are happy to sell you various of other substances.
3.) You can say the same thing about video games, movies, music, etc., its not technically "addicting," but its still something to do for leisure. Leisure time in one's life is just as important as productivity, many studies show this.
4.) Why are you so judgmental of how others live? Get off your high horse and wake up.
Some of the most influential people are marijuana users. If you're against it, stop listening to music, stop watching movies, etc. -

I live in Humboldt County. I work in Arcata, CA aka pot city USA.
Most of the legal growers and collectives are against prop 19 cuz it is a poorly made proposition. It creates more issues than it solves.
I voted no but my reasons were not to support the regional mercantile. I have kids that I am trying to properly raise.
I am fine with legit medical use and safe recreational use too. But 4:20 never has, never will amount to anything more than minimum wage, wife-beater tanks and Raider fans...

If it's legalized, it can be regulated and better controlled. There will ALWAYS be a black market, but there will be a reduction in crime. Quality can be controlled, and just imagine the tax dollars it will bring in.
Tax on tobacco and alcohol is 40% or more. Marijuana should be classified and controlled in the same way.
