The purpose of an alliance.
Forums › General Discussion › The purpose of an alliance.-
From every alliance description I have read, I find that they always have this section on how they treat new players. Everybody words it differently, but for the most part their all trying to get these players to become better players. And lets face it. All that's required of a new guy to get better and be protected is to just make some local friends. Well, aside from that, what seperates on alliance from another? Emoji? Yeah but cmon. Policies? Not really. Execution of said policies? Yeah, but not enough to make an alliance really stand out. The only thing left after that really, is power. Which one controls the most areas. So IF we agree on this (but I'm sure people won't) why isn't there more wars? You don't get power by making truces. Alliances don't really have any controlled territories if they are building on eachothers "areas". So WTF? If no alliance truly has an area fully controlled by them, then what is the point?

Maybe the goals of the alliances you are looking at is not power. Therefore, you see no wars between them.
Desert Rain is currently not at war simply because we have the areas we claim under control. No one is posing a threat to us, so we do not need to be at war.
-
It also seems though that like personalities gravitate toward one another, not to mention locality being a factor.
-
You rite its all about power and having ppl back you up if you cant handle something yourself mainly. It makes ppl feel safe they can run to there bigger friends to gang up on them and administer a bunch of attacks

Well then. You might have the most power in that region but you don't control it if CEM is there making its own decisions.ripd wrote:

I can see age and similar personalities being a factor. However the only clan that seems to abide by this is Desert Rain and their a couple days old. CEM is a total mess of random players, as are most alliancesOh, and age.

If I'm honest, I'll never join an alliance that is all about peace and prosperity. The only time you'll see me in an alliance is when the alliance is about making war all the time, regardless of the mob size. In my eyes if your influence is high enough for me to cap, and your not helped by the don then your fair game.
In all honesty this is the best way to help newbies, to force them to grow fast. -

Yes. We do. But as I also stated, no one in our areas pose a threat to us.
I personally do not have issues with other allainces having members in our areas.

Also charlie, of your alliance is not about power, then please explain what makes it differ from any other alliance.

But distinguish between full control and the majority of the control. No government has full control over it's territories. However, they have the majority, and have the power to back up their claimΣмקεгφг ќ wrote:

That is flawed logic. Just because they are there and making decisions dies not mean we do not have control.
Should they engage in behaviour detrimental to our ares, we will take action.

So far, they have respected our authority, so we allow them some autonomy in the area they occupy.

I'm just trying to make a point of alliance sovereignty across. You dont see north Korea with mcdonalds in there( lol probably worst example). Ultimately Im saying that every alliance seems to "scared" of a war. Well why not? Claim something for yourself instead of being a noob training facility

Alright you have made a great point Charlie. But please, what distinguishes your alliance from others besides emoji.

I don't feel I know enough of the other alliances to know what sets us apart.
Our goal is not to be different, but just to be.

our alliance is not about power. Our allince is merely a group of players who share the same goals and philosophies.
Power is just a byproduct of the collective.
Power is never a priductive or efficient goal if it is the only goal.
Power is merely a tool for attaining the goal.
If power is an alliance's only goal, they are destined to fail.

your argument is predicated on the basis that alliances must be different.
I don't feel they need to be different.
Maybe the one thing that sets us apart is individual independence. But CMS makes that same claim.
Desert Rain is not a constant.
-
Well yes charlie, if your all the same i see no point. I guess im mistaken on what an alliance means. Kind of dissappointing. But, I respect your stand point.
-
My actions are my actions. Not the actions of Desert Rain. If I decide to go to war with someone, it's me going to war. Not Desert Rain.
Our members are free to play the game as it was intended.
Desert Rain is more about defense than offense. Should axaituation arise that is too big for the individual, the alliance may get involved.
If one of ourmembers gets himself into trouble, they need to big enough to get themselves out of trouble, or they can take their lumps.
If any of us are ataacked unprovoked, rest assured, we WILL be there forveach other.

apparently you are mistaken. An alliance is nothing more than a group of individuals who share a common goal.
So what if they are all the same? What's your point? Should we merge Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Papa Johns, etc into just one big pizza joint?
Or do we let them compete, each providing something just a little bit different, but mostly the same.

In all honesty this is the best way to help newbies, to force them to grow fast. You can have prosperity w/o peace. We just don't want to see people being wiped out or driven out before they can even get started.
We have no safe zones. We have no restrictions on capping other than don't hose income. Don't opress anyone.
As for fair game, I personally set that to level 50, without question. I'll almost never cap anyone below level 35. Between those two levels, I will consider all their stats.
But that's just the way i play.

I agree with Charlie. No problem with attacking people or smashing them out of your city even, but imo it's not on to ruin somones game...
