As for the lil news article hatter posted... what was the point of that posting? Jus to hammer down a non exsistant point to stir up the hive mind? The topic is man is arrested for goin over 2 mins. Lets stay there for now..

Ok, I finally found the whole passage. Apparently the first one I read cut some bits out. It was rape, although it purposefully tries to make it as gray as possible - one minute she's pulling him closer, then in the middle she says wait. I'd imagine they have students read it to discuss it & learn that's not ok - NOT to say that's the norm. I would think especially horny teenage boys might need to think about this stuff "ahead of time," as I doubt they are thinking much in the moment. Girls could also learn a lot about situations they put themselves in, confusing signals, etc. Sorry, but people aren't born knowing that stuff. Hopefully their parents educate them, but that's not always the case.

"According to WMUR-TV, he was charged with disorderly conduct because he did not immediately leave when asked by an officer."
The dad said they were going to have to arrest him. As someone mentioned earlier, the guy is a lawyer. He probably knew exactly what he was doing. Getting arrested was an excellent way to garner media attention.
-
Gee, racist words used to be commonly used too, so we should just accept that & use them? "Only in the USA" is a common phrase in the UK so you shouldn't be held accountable for what it means or for offending people? It was your choice to use the phrase.
No worries BazBoffer, unlike Papillion, I wouldn't judge an entire country based on 1 person. I'm pretty sure none of the other intelligent people that have posted here would either.
-
The entire point of the book was to present these situations that many teens experience these days and to discuss them - to learn things that aren't ok and/or better ways of dealing with them.
Was using that book the best way to go about it? I don't know. (Just based on the quality of the writing I'd say no.) Should parents have been notified beforehand? Considering there are a lot of sensitive subjects in the book, I'd say yes. Should the dad have been arrested? If he's going to purposefully disobey the police, then he should have expected no less. As I already said, I think he meant to be arrested. Are people only arrested for disorderly conduct in the US? No. Why did Papillion post this thread? I have no idea - he seems to post threads just to argue.

What? All I see is you stereotyping. Not even got on the subject of fat doughnut est policeman handcuffing and arresting a father because he broke a 2 minute rule.
Lmao only in America
You wouldn't let your daughter read the bible? 😂 Will you allow your child to step out of the house or use the internet before age 18?
Please give me a good reason to reconsider -

I'd just like to say the phrase 'only in the usa' is one I have never heard. I have heard 'only in America' on only a few occasions in my not so short life, but not usually in a derogatory way."Only in the USA" is a common phrase in the UK so you shouldn't be held accountable for what it means or for offending people? A dislike of America or Americans in general is not really a popular view, I have found.
My earlier comment was really an effort to quiet an obvious idiot. Irrespective of his nationality or any skewed view of another.
He's probably the sort that thinks Polish immigrants have created our nations current economic woes, too. -
Haha mystery. Lmao
You think morals come from the bible lmfao
More people have been raped pillaged , executed , from the people behind the bible than anyone else in any other time. The bible as been the cause of more death than cancer and that's a fact.
Morals. Lol

You make no sense and just to let you know, the bible sets morale standards, it's how people interpret the bible when all the crap occurs
-
As an example a lot of laws today are based off of morale standards from the bible, without these laws the world would be a much worse than it already is
-
And also which bible are you referring to? There are many many different bibles for various religions in existence today

You piss me off. You think the UK is so much better than the US, and you're fucking wrong😄😄 ok I keep getting attacked by angry Americans .
Let me please explain for the last time. I DONT DISLIKE AMERICANS.
Only in the USA (America) same thing one idiot pulled me on ??. It's a phrase that's all and it's a phrase used because of things like this police officer arresting a concerned father for speaking over his 2 minute slot.
Which wouldn't happen anywhere else but America .Is that so bad ? But also you guys defend the text that the children were reading and the father being arrested and that only to would happen in America.
A police officer would not of arrested him anywhere in Europe the text would not of got read in a school in Europe. Is that so bad. Please if I've offended forgive me. It's only a phrase

Please no offence but don't preach religion to me.And also which bible are you referring to? There are many many different bibles for various religions in existence today
Money and religion are the 2 biggest causes of war surly we all agree on that. The world would be a much better place if religion was never invented.
Yes invented by man.
All religions come from the same religion of the sun god, there all just splintered off the one religion.
So before I get into more trouble with people who want to attack my little circles I do respect your beliefs but look deep into the history of where they come from -
Wow, you are an idiot
Where did you get that crap from?
And you respect our beliefs?Papillon wrote:

Fact eh? Can you cite your source? The bible as been the cause of more death than cancer and that's a fact.
I'd like to see all these death certificates that say "CAUSE OF DEATH: THE BIBLE"

You say a text like that wouldn't be read anywhere In Europe, in year 10-11so age 15, we read a book which included a scene where a girl was raped by a future war here whilst her boyfriend listened, we had to question whether the war hero should still be called a hero, I'm in England.
-
Was it as graphic canine, that's what I'm saying.
As Mystery said it leaves a grey area was it rape?? Yes it was but even Mystery had to read a few times.
That can't be good for a young boy to be reading. He might think forcing himself on a young girl is the done thing. No girl needs to no what rape is its common sense , if she didn't consent it was rape.
When a boy pins a girls hands down and takes her by force it's rape. he shouldn't ever think it's the done thing. Not sure if your a father Canine but surly you would agree you wouldn't want your children reading in school a book so graphic and if you complaint would you get arrested handcuffed and marched out?
-
I'd prefer for them to learn about it either at home or at school, which are proper controlled environments, instead of down the park, and I'm sure for a young girl it could be a fuzzy line between what the norm is when it comes to rape/sex, not being a girl is can't really say though.

I understand completely that many in the UK would be embarrassed by butterfly here.
It always embarrasses me when some tool declares atheism while being completely ignorant of religion.
What really makes me facepalm is the confidence... The open and willing expression of ignorance... I'd like to say it's just trolling, but even the possibility that this butterfly is serious causes my forehead to meet my hand.
So I suppose I will stop feeding it and hope it goes elsewhere.

I shouldn't have even mentioned the morals thing because the last thing I want is to make this a religious debate. So I'll just drop that.
Idk why I'm bothering to respond because Papillion ignored most of what I said.

Sorry if I missed something Mystery
