What do you think happens when you die?

I always have this fear of what death could be and what it's like, and I was just wondering what you guys think it could be. Any religions are welcome and please no arguments. And also, do you think there could ever be a "cure" for death?
-
I heard you void your bowels.

I want to answer your last question, but I won't bring my religion into it.
Even with cures for disease and better medical procedures, there are just some things we can't do to help. We just don't know enough about the human body to possibly just know how to fix everything; suicide, for instance, is something you can't really prevent. The interesting argument, though, is whether or not we'd want a cure for death. Being immortal seems good on paper, especially if everyone else around you is also immortal, but for me at least, that would get old real quick. Especially with my beliefs, I'd rather just end it my way and be done with it. Though, if you believe in heaven or hell, isn't that kinda exactly what you're searching for? Immortality? It's definitely a tough question. -
I do believe in a Heaven and a literal Hell, what i feel is we are judged by how we live our life. There is scientific evidence of a soul, special cameras have caught it, plus differnt "out of body experances" that some have, it proves that there is something after this time we live in. Too much points to a life after death. I personally am not afraid of what lies ahead.

No religious aspects: The chemical processes in your body ends and when they do, nothing remains. You cease to exist.

Honestly in itself the thought of a "cure" for death is kinda terrifying. Just think of the thought of losing joy in the small things and the overpopulation the Earth would suffer through. Might be more miserable than it's worth.

When you die, the following process starts.
To begin with, when your heart stops beating, your body's cells and tissues stop receiving oxygen. Brain cells are the first to die.
Blood begins draining from the capillaries, pooling in lower-lying portions of the body, creating a pale appearance in some places and a darker appearance in others.
The muscle tissue begins to lose its stiffness after about 36 hours, and within about 72 hours of dying, the body's rigor mortis will subside.
As the cells die, bacteria within the body begin breaking them down. Enzymes in the pancreas cause the organ to digest itself. The body soon takes on a gruesome appearance and smell. Decomposing tissue emits a green substance, as well as gasses such as methane and hydrogen sulfide. The lungs expel fluid through the mouth and nose.
Depending where you die & what environmental factors there are, the rate of decomposition can be increased.
Also bear in mind insects & other animals that may choose to feed on you. -
👆 this is good

I believe it's lights out when you die. I will cease being, in entirety.

Although the first one seems logical, to think that everything you once were (thoughts, emotions, ect.) is just snuffed out like that seems just strange. Don't know how to describe it but it's almost like I want to believe there is something else.No religious aspects: The chemical processes in your body ends and when they do, nothing remains. You cease to exist...dirt nap.

To intense a question for me. Pass.

To beat death is not a new thing. There's a philosophy called Trans Humanism which is all about upgrading ourselves with the help of technology to make sure the entire human race won't extinct.
Their ultimate goal is to upload the humans mind/soul/brain or whatever. So that they have eternal life. It is actually what the Matrix was inspired on too -
Jesus Christ gives us eternal life. That's the only way I know to beat the grim reaper.

I believe nothing happens,nothingness,eternal sleep,done...the end -
I feel like there's a being over looking us that's much greater than man. Call him/her the creator or whatever you will, I'm not limiting this to Christianity. When we die we go either to our creator or to eternal damnation. I just don't feel like it's simply as cut and dry as you love and die then you're gone forever, however I also understand the creator I believe in may not even be the right one. I guess it's just a gamble lol.

I believe we die and decompose, and that's fine with me. I don't fear death or ponder on "what happens after" cause I don't care and don't want to waste an ounce of energy thinking about it. No one knows what happens after death. The only time you may possibly know, is once you die.
-
I think it's going to be like going to sleep, but without dreaming.
-
i believe in energy. the engery that makes up our bodys and the engergy of our actions and how we touch others lives that will ripple through time. even when we pass no matter what form we are in we are still part of the universe. and the decisions we make and how we affect others is an energy that will pass on thousands if not millions of years.(if we last that long).
life after death.... so to speak... as in the energy that makes us up never dies.
heaven and hell...bah humbug. -
Certain species of jellyfish and lobster have self repairing DNA and are genetically immortal and only die from outside sources.
-
The real question is what happens when the universe ends
-
I also believe that a cosmic jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh, and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree

Theres a flip side to the debate of 'what happens to you when you die' and its 'where did we come from before we were born?'
Whether or not people have a religious view on it or not, the human spirit is so unique and the power of the soul craves for something eternal, subconsciously and people find comfort in religion.
Like someone suggested above its not worth dwelling on for too long.
Heaven, hell or just worm food? We're all destined to find out one day. -
God has Appointed man once to die, then the Judgement.
-
Augie, you still alive! Thought you went to the great beyond, aka retired. Lol
