How do we encourage new players to stay?
Forums › General Discussion › How do we encourage new players to stay?-
Well, I'm quite new player and you can see the reactions I get here and in other threads: d- mathematics, fantasies, fairytales, insults mystified with insider abbreviations, but little to no objective reaction to my ideas.
It's like the top mobsters believe to have had all the good ideas and all ideas are bad that might threaten their status.
And because there is no usable documentation we will continue discussing repetitively newbies questions and redundant suggestions.
Yes, it's society. But it's not about dealing with a slap in the face, but about dealing with the new member of your community in a good way. Instead we have wide spread social incompetence.
Or just be honest and say : "I don't care about new players." -

ApplauseNothing is owed to new players... Create turf art, make friends, make enemies, set goals. There's so many ways you can play...

Since it keeps coming up, I will not encourage players with racist turf names or that make racist comments to stay. In fact, I will discourage it as best I can.

@ Diemann - what insider abbreviations?
No one said all the good ideas have been thought of. There is tons of usable documentation - the help section, the help forum, & the wiki.
It's easy to do a google search for the suggestion forum before posting a suggestion. I didn't even open the suggestion forum until quite awhile after I started. I didn't know enough about the game to know whether things posted were good ideas or not.

You are certainly free to do that. It's been denied because we've seen it done on a massive scale. Multiple players campaigned for months to get others to remove thuglife from their mobs. In the end, the effect was negligible. This was years ago too, when top mobs were much smaller.✂Messaging at all, even politely, in my experience is a bad idea. I just take him out of my mob, and hope his enemies catch up to him. I might take his alliance mates out of my mob too, just because they protect him. This suggestion seems valid to me, but has been and will be denied because it is against the interests of the players competing in mob. Nobody likes to differ in opinion with them because it often means being attacked and losing. Again, just my opinion and differing perspectives will see it differently.

I received this message
“In regards to your forum post: There is hardly any way you can keep new players playing. When I first started playing a few days over 2 years ago, I had ambitions. I grew into a 6k mob, a large one for my area. I began capturing, starting small scale wars, but nothing major. I was banned from the forums eventually, but it wasn't a big loss. It was when I first started realizing that I will never get to a 40k mob without extreme dedication to an iPhone game that hindered me. I slowly started retreating into Pal, preffering to talk to players there instead. I gained valuble allies. However, I could never get back into the idea of punching for hours at a time. Some players don't like that part of the game, whereas to the vets it's a part of their lives. S basically, the whole problem with this game is imtimidation. I was lucky enough to get my friends playing so I had some compitetion at my level, but after I was above them, I quit playing as often. As you can see, I've reset.” -
It's not up to us to get them to stay. Dedication is what gets them to stay, and we can't make them dedicated. We can do all in our power to be friendly and welcome them, but unless theyre really dedicated the game will not appeal to them.

The Legion is correct. TW takes perseverance. No one has to punch codes for hours at a time though. I tell new players to punch as much as they can stand, but not so many that they burn themselves out.
Punching codes wasn't a part of any of our lives when we started playing either. We chose to do it & to continue doing it.
Turf Wars isn't for everyone & that's ok.

Looks like a match made in heaven. Yikes. And I agree with Mystery. This game isn't for everyone, but the ones who choose to stick it out and punch are the ones we usually want anywaysMystery wrote:

Introduce them to Free Mason ;)

When you are new to this game, you see your local suburb and attempt to dominate it... Then you spread a little further. As you become involved in the odd minor skirmish, you may get 'smacked' by a much bigger player. You gradually realise the game is played on a much higher level than you realised.
To graduate to the next level requires a major investment of time and effort...
Then there is the need to learn the nuances of game in all it's facets.
Repeating yourself over and over is tiring. That's why we developed an online clan training course.
If each clan could do that it would help noobs. Without noobs our game will stagnate.

This. I remember coming to the forums when I was a noob making a few posts and there was this one player ,who is still active now, who used to down me everytime.Every time a new person posts here, they get shitted on. That's not gonna encourage new players to stay.
When people see new mobsters in their area, reach out to them and offer help/advice.

Capos are stupid anyway 🙊 mob up 😜Guys I love this game. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, because if all the big 20k + mobsters now. Chances are you won't catch up to them, and even if you reach 20k, they will have grown even more. It's impossible to get a capo now, because all capos are "mobbed up" and continue to grow. So for new players, why even try?
