What happened to kids these days?

  Redonkulous!!! This is why you should live in the sticks where they crawl out of the brush for a kickball or dodgeball league. As kindergarteners!

  Of course they also still pray at all the schools...

  And all the moms have a county-wide swap page on FB so we basically trade toys and stuff for Xmas and birthdays. Or sell what we make. Shush!!!

  I'm a parent of a 10 year old girl. Yes, she does have an MP3 player, but it's a cheap one. She also has a prepaid cell which she carries when she goes to a friends house to call and check in. She has a weekly chore list and gets a $20/week allowance when she completes it. She has a wii which I've taken away a couple times because she was playing it too much. (Second wii, actually. First one I hit with a sledgehammer to prove to her that I wasn't fooling around.) It now is only played when the weather is bad. I'm the fun parent, being that I take long bike rides, sled ride, and even trail hike with her on a regular basis. We bought her a digital camera for Christmas because she enjoys taking nature shots. I'm actually really surprised I did well with her so far. Hopefully it continues into her teenage years...

  I got a 12 year old daughter, and to be honest, shes a bit spoiled... Wii, ps3 and a pc to play with, an mp3 player and a lot of playtime on my ipad.

  Why i do this? Because, i got a 1 in a million daughter.(yeah i know every parent thinks that), but seriously, if other people come to me to say how nice my daughter is, that she has great manners and all that, what does that mean to me? It means to me that im doing a great job as a single parent.
  I can give multiple examples, but one that sticks out is in a store... Kid in front of us is screaming his vocal cords out, untill my daughter went up to him and told him to shut it, as he was making a fool of himself. Lol, that kid did shut it, and his mom was staring at my daughter in disbelieve haha.

  But regarding most "spoiled disrespectfull brats", yes.. We as parents are to blame , as we make them what they are...

  I go to one of the best prep high schools in the country (USA) and the people i hang with are much different including me. I'm raised almost like in the military and trust me, all of this is just stereotypes of children

  I don't get gifts on my birthday or when people celebrate Christmas. 17 years of this and I'm doing fine.

  Yes, I guess I do belong to a different class of society. My parents probably did that on purpose for me in that regard. But on the other hand, if someone had a strong enough power of will, they could get even with the upper class. But when you say that, it's not exactly true since I've had the "best" of both worlds. I came here from Eastern Europe and no one is rich there unless your a corrupt politician.
