You could've been the star player of your league. It doesn't matter. I'm sure you played your ass off to get there. Be proud that you at least got to where you did and dont be upset over 2nd place. You could've been on 3rd, 4th or even 50th.TrailerTrash wrote:
I'm guessing that they didn't put hours into practicing like I did. Over the winter I hit every day or every other for a few months. Do you think that team put that kind of work in?Then don't be such a sore loser. At least you got a trophy. What about the team that placed last? You think they felt like crap? Come on.

I agree with the guys saying its the adults fault. But since you guys all know the adults are raising you guys bad fix it. That's just it, don't pass all the blame. I agree with you though. I've always believed that it is the parents that make them that way. But doesn't mean the kid has to be that way, they can make themselves better. For the record I know there are good kids too. I see parents all the time fuckin up a kids life and it pisses me off. I got an old school pops, I got the belt and I thank him for it.

I have certainly caved to a tantrum, a well placed tantrum can be a very effective weapon if used correctly! I try to do what I can, but there is too much stuff aimed at kids these days, advertising is targeting them specifically. When I was young we simply did not have the choices available to us as kids – back in the 70’s – 80’s.

and please no one under 20 lecture me on child rearing! lol!

I like it, the pussies make me look like a boss. I rip up every chain of command in every work field I enter. Useful youth are a rare commodity, luckily in high demand.

I'm a dad of a 4 and 2 year old. Sure the 4 has a touch but it was cheaper than the kids version and let me have my phone back. Further, they do crafts, swimming and looking to start gym this year. I will not be like my father, I will be there as a parent. When I say no I mean no. If they go to mum to get a different opinion then they are in trouble. If they haven't done what was asked of them nicely by the count of 3 I force them to do it. They will respect me. And in return I read books to them, we have tickle fights and walk down to the neighbourhood park to feed the ducks, etc... My kids will want for nothing provided they earn it...

I have three kids. If you asked them what one word dad says the most, the would say "no!".
Don't get me wrong, my kids have nice things, but they don't get everything they want.
Some of my 5 year old's friends got iPads for Christmas. WTF?!? Who buys a 5 year old an iPad?!?!?? -
What gets me more angry is kids who cant make a decision by their selves. They cannot connect the dots even if it is right there! Every single time they do anything they ask "Is this alright?" Ask your own self and actually use your brain for once!

In every generation their have been spoilt children. It is more apparent now because of technology, but their has always been that kid who gets a really expensive bike and new clothes all the time and would throw a tantrum if he didn't get it. And for the runner up trophies I play and train for football (European.) and after the season finishes their is a presentation and everybody is given a trophy. And then we have a player of the year, most improved etc trophies. Why shouldn't people be given a trophy if they've been working hard. I am always a runner up. My last few tournaments and seasons ended 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 4th, 2nd, 1st. So I really like participation trophies because I play for fun.

@dirty balls - If the parents can afford it what is the difference between a 5 year old with an iPad and a 4 year old with an iPod? My kids 11 and 9 (going on 12 and 18 - what's with girls!!?) both have the iPod touch. I certainly can't lay claim to strictest parent of the year. We have the Wii, XBox, Playstation2, etc. We live in a very affluent area, monster houses and every game under the sun. We are not affluent. Keeping up with the Kardashians is a constant force to be reckoned with – and enough water torture gets to you.

I was brought up with extremely tight parents, everything was cheap, bottom of the line, reduced etc.they are still rediculous and save every penny.....I have never understood that.being 32 I actually asked my dad why he was so cheap, his answer "to teach you about money".
Unfortunately it's made me bad with money and spend it as soon as I get it on whatever I want and some game that you capture circles.
I don't save.....never have,I suppose it's to spite my parents but being spoilt isn't always a bad thing,I'm on the flip side of that and I fall into that category.
Swings and roundabouts -
Kids get shorter, and education level went down. The generation is changing and its getting more messed up.

I have been told, "I'm going to sue you!" more times than I can count. (usually I'm being told that because I am holding them accountable for their actions)
WTF!!! I never would have said that to a teacher!

(true story)
At our son's school it's now called battle ball.
Also our son is 10 and he has to do chores and earn money to buy things he wants. Other than that he only gets things given to him for Christmas, Birthdays, and when he did something extra to earn it.
And there is nothing wrong with disciplining a child with a spanking. Children need boundaries and rules.

Behind most entitled children is a set of parents who are trying to be a friend instead of a parent. It doesn't work, but I see the draw. Be willing to put a foot down, even it it means they think you're a meanie. Raise them right & they will end up with plenty of really good friends and still have the parents they will need. I think most of the "friend" parents are the same ones who think live is supposed to be easy & not require work. They are the ones who go see my wife in the ER having a difficult time breathing & want a pill to make it better. Then they get mad at her if she mentions the pack a day smoking habit they have. Sometimes life takes work, hard work, & that goes for parents & "kids these days".

I'd like to agree with many of you and I do. Many kids my age are spoiled and don't work for what they get. I my self personally always have to work for what I want such as mowing the lawn and raking leaves add on to that keeping all A's in honors classes. I think my parents are doing good as they teach me that nothing comes easy. My first season in soccer I came in dead last never put in effort. Scince then I've put the effort and I have two first place medals and a top goals scored medal. Along with my parents advice I will continue to do things on my own and not let others do it for me.
-
I'm 18 years old and I certainly didn't get spoilt. My parents are still some of the good parents out there and I'm thankful for all the spankings I received! This very iPod I hold in my hands were bought with money I saved during almost 2 years of buying nothing! Only gifts I got were either on christmas or my birthday and it's nothing like the stuff kids get these days... Socks and clothes! And did I get mad? No. I accepted them with a smile.

Not all kids are like this. Over generalizing...

Im a kid
Or am i?
😈😈😈😈 -
I'm *insert age here* and do not get SPOILED, theres a diference between a treat and spoiling. Now, the 8 year olds with the ipads at restraunts complaining about locked wifi is spoiling. The 4 year olds on the iphone 5 in the grocery cart while the mom is shopping? SPOILED! When I was 4 i was walking right besides them. I try to help out my family, esp. Its a difficult time for my parents, not complain if there's chores. All you younger ones reading this need to pay attention. New generations are getting more lazy as technology advances. It's ass backwards. Become and do better than we did, advance with technology, don't drown in it, give us something to be proud of.
