Also consider this. Lincoln freed the slaves, yes. But he was only in control of the north, the north full of free states. I'm sure the south laughed when he passed it seeing as it would have no jurisdiction in their new country.

I'm not sure what this "decision" is that you keep referring to. The Confederate states seceded in response to Lincoln's election, not any policy he had carried out or even announced. Also consider this. Lincoln freed the slaves, yes. Benjamin Franklin, because he invented lightning, syphilis, Philadelphia, prostitutes, freedom, and the printing press. Oh and he liked to attend drunken French orgies.

Making a decision he knew would cause an uproar and even a war. Many presidents before him made compromises. Lincoln's reckless decision cost the lives of I believe 600,000 men. And he also made black people free, not equal. I also think I heard somewhere his original plan was to send the blacks away. And the phrase honest Abe was used sarcastically. -
@clone he wanted to free the slaves but the country comes first. He decided to preserve the union over no slavery. But the south had already made its mind, they left the union and then Lincoln was left with a choice. Either let the south leave an break apart the union like Europe is or preserve the nation like the founding fathers had planned. He chose right, the only reason the war cost so many lives was from the terrible generals in the north.

I think it is widely accepted that although bush has some stains on his presidency, his reaction to 9/11 was not one of them. And how did he trample on due process?
Well, since we knew immediately that Saddam Hussein had no involvement in the 9/11 attacks, but DID have oil, that's a pre-emptive war that was based on lies.
How many years have we held 'enemy combatants' without a trial? How many wiretaps were put on American citizens without a warrant? That is known as trampling due process.
He has some stains on his presidency? That's an understatement. -

we didn't take Iraq for the oil, Saddam supported bin laden. Also why would we give our enemies a fair trial? Especially terrorists, whose goal is to kill everyone in Europe and America? I agree that they should give Americans privacy though.E=MC(Hammer) wrote:

Actually, Saddam Hussein's regime and Al Queda were mutually hostile. And how do we know if someone is really a terrorist if there's never a trial?jimmy big-balls wrote:
