Ambassador killed
Forums › General Discussion › Ambassador killed-
Protesters storm the embassy in Libya and killed the ambassador and 3 others. Then the state department issues an apology to the protesters??? Aren't these the same people who were chanting USA just a few months ago after we help liberate them? 1979 was the last ambassador was killed. So would u view this as an act of war?
-
Yes I agree
The embassy is considered US soil so they just invaded the US and killed US citizens.
Yet this weak administration will sit back and do nothing.
🍻cheers to "Hope and change", you got what you asked for. -
They tore down our flag and tore it to pieces as well

The question is, does that small group of people represent an entire country? Did the guy who shot and killed multiple worshipping Sikhs represent the U.S.? You can't condemn, let alone attack, a country based on the actions of a few - even a few thousand, which is a relatively tiny percentage of the population.

I actually agree. But what do u do? Some idiot in Florida makes a video and half the middle east gets pissed enough that SOME storm embassies. Do we make it illegal to make any video that would lead to this?

So it's ok to kill them but how dare they kill us ?

No, we don't. Unfortunately, there is no fix or easy solution. We're always going to have idiots who want to stir the pot and inflame relations, and in turn, there'll always be people who're extremists and will react. (Just like there'll always be good people on both sides, too.) Don't look now, but there's plenty of people right here at home who're willing, ready, and capable of doing the same things. And that, to me, is way scarier than foreign terrorism.

Still trying to remember the last time a video making Jesus look bad got a crowd of angry Americans to storm an embassy and kill a foreign ambassador...

I know this is an unacceptable view-point, but I'd be quite curious to see Libya invaded by our boys....Not that the U.N. Would allow us to occupy it very long. 😒

Doesn't mean you have to apologize to the killers for letting them kill your friends, though. That seems silly. Mack, did they really do that? The question is, does that small group of people represent an entire country? Did the guy who shot and killed multiple worshipping Sikhs represent the U.S.? You can't condemn, let alone attack, a country based on the actions of a few - even a few thousand, which is a relatively tiny percentage of the population.
According to Fox, Clinton's office released a statement apologizing for the vid last night. That statement was walked back by the white house this morning. May want to fact check that.

I find it interesting that I can't find the name of the guy who made this inflammatory video anywhere on the web. What do we know about that guy? Did he deliberately make this video to disrupt the American election process and embarrass the current government, because he knew from the previous anti-Mohammed cartoon what the result would be?

Couple of points from someone who's worked in multiple Embassies around the world:
-They are there on a diplomatic mission, only a small cadre of armed Marines protect the compound.
-This thread has some of the most ignorant crap I've read on the forums in a long time.

Just a question: after the embassy in Egypt was attacked first, why wouldn't they add more security in other embassies in the region?

Embassies aren't military bases, the Marines who work there are part of a special program of volunteers and cleared through the local host country for their positions.
Increasing a military presence is often seen as an act if war, setting aside policy simply getting extra people there is a task in itself. You have to consider positions available, funding, the logistics behind it, ect.

Pretty sure our fore fathers and the other people that started and built this country would be rolling over in their graves if they saw it now. People in other countries think the U.S. is a joke. Sorry to say the way things are ran these days im starting to think so as well.So it's ok to kill them but how dare they kill us ?

Agreed. I would be interested to see what the government of Libya is doing to catch these militants?

Best place to play it out, if only the rest of the world thought like that! ✌

FYI more US soldiers have committed suicide than died fighting in the middle east.

Fox reported that Libyans helped defend the embassy and are the ones that carried the ambassadors body to the hospital. That some tried to help the Americans. Maybe a glimmer of hope...
