YesProtesters storm the embassy in Libya and killed the ambassador and 3 others. Then the state department issues an apology to the protesters??? Aren't these the same people who were chanting USA just a few months ago after we help liberate them? 1979 was the last ambassador was killed. So would u view this as an act of war?

You've been warned.
👆I second this. I've spent a decade in the Middle East, a large part of that in Tripoli, Libya and I've seen first hand what Libyans had to endure under Qaddafi. They are brave fighters, good, simple people, the kind you find everywhere in the world. Making a statement that this is an act of war is identifying the whole country with a small group of radicalists, akin to saying Breisvik is Norway and the idiot from Aurora Colorado is the US.
Heartbroken about the death of ambassador Stevens. He loved that country and its people. I hope that everyone involved faces responsibility for these actions - including the coward in LA that made the video that spits in the face of an already disenfranchised people.

To those following this topic - more info coming out on Sam Bacile, the mastermind behind the movie that's igniting the Middle East - no other word to use but shameful.

Hello every one
I'm from Libya we are very sorry for loosing such a good man like the ambassador he was very nice good helpful optimistic and we are really sorry for his family
and most of the Libyan aren't happy with the attack not because US has helped libya not because the relation might effected but we are against killing enecent people and Islam urges us not to kill or insulting between us and them era pacifists or residing among us also who made all this mess are freak small people who want Libya to be unstable you find these group make mess at every Picket or demonstration I'm assuring you what has happened is really crime from criminal people and we all forcing the new government to Judge them and hop they hang them -
And now about the film I think you all know or knew about it and not first time they tried to Cursing our prophet or our religion and hope most of you or all of you are against this
we as a muslim believe in all religion and all prophets and we don't accept any to do or to say bad things about any of the prophets -
Y is it that i thought i was gonna get rick rolled when i clicked to read this

KMB - While tensions are high in the U.S. against Muslims, just as tensions are high for the Islamic world against us, that film does NOT represent us as a country or people! The maker of that film was a nut who had his own agenda. As you are sorry for the attack, we are sorry for that fool who insulted you.

I think we all share same opinion and wish we could all cooperate to make good note about each other

Also, I think a lot of Americans like the fact that Libyans didn't just sit by and beg for help. They decided they didn't like living under a tyrant and took matters into their own hands. Huge props for taking the first step to freedom on their own 👍

Well they did something which would justify us killing them. The attack on our ambassador was unprovoked and senseless. Just like the death penalty you can't use the same reasoning for why killing is wrong towards the killer! So it's ok to kill them but how dare they kill us ?

I agree that those responsible should be held responsible and not the entire nation, and I agree with telling people that those who mock the religion of others don't represent the U.S. as a whole, but in what manner should the maker of the video be held responsible? Yes, his video may have been a negative and possibly hateful portrayal of Mohammed, but does he not have the right to make a statement like that? Whether he "should" is another question. But being offended should never be a justifiable excuse for violence. Jesus is mocked all the time without inciting violence. SNL sketches, Monty Python's "The Life of Brian", and most recently, the hilarious images made from that horribly botched painting restoration in Spain. And the Virgin Mary being made out of elephant dung was presented as art in America too. People were upset, but I don't think anyone was murdered over it....

Brown Note, I must laugh awkwardly at my own mistake there. You are 100% right in correcting me: King (Michael King originally) had nothing to do with the prodestant reformation.
I have a bad habit of confusing Martin Luther with Martin Luther King.
Martin Luther, the German monk from the late 1500's, was instrumental in the Prodestant reformation, which assisted in bringing about the enlightenment, and the end of the dark ages.
Please forgive my mistake.
Back on topic, I feel deeply for the countries involved (obviously US and Lybia). I have a short note to input, but it'll have to be in a second post ... ✌

Three Australian soldiers were murdered in the past fortnight. They were sitting down, unarmed, and from what I understand, playing cards with a man from the country they were in (I'm a little unsure of details, including place of deployment, and haven't the time to google it this moment) ...long story short, the man stood up and gunned them down in cold blood.
These were soldiers, on the front line, who knew the risks they were taking by signing up to the army. However, they were killed unfairly, just as your ambassador was. And just as the USA is up in arms over it, we here in Australia are infuriated. So we feel your pain.
I agree with the posters above though in saying that one or a few bad apples dont represent the entire bunch, so to speak. Lybia, like any country, has many decent, upstanding citizens.
I have to love you an leave you, ladies and gentlemen. Take care, and know that at least one Aussie from Down Under is thinking about your countries ✌

@Mr. Wretched
I'm the first person who is a fan of the Monty Python sketches and you're right, no one was murdered over them. But to assume the rest of the world reacts like we do - or that they should - is wrong. Something happens to us when we see what is at our core being defaced - in the case of the US, it's the US flag, in the case of Muslim Arabs it's the Prophet - and often the reactions are unpredictable.I can tell you, I only recently became a US citizen (and for the record, am not Arab in origin) and for years I've listened to the US "strongly condemn" this and that action across the globe. I always thought wow, must be something to be a citizen of a country where the whole world stops to hear what their Secretary of State has to say. Not due to wisdom, but due to the threat of arned retaliation. And where there is poverty, some people will grab a gun and resort to violence, because that's what everyone hears. They have nothing to lose.

As for this director, I am a believer that freedom of speech is a privilege more than a right, and should be treated with respect, used respectfully. If this guy cons actors into making a film to further his own hateful agenda, dubs it so he can insult a big chunk of the world's population, and then sits back knowing full well there will be some kind of violent reaction somewhere in the middle east... Well, congrats to him, he proved some Arabs are terrorists, mission accomplished. Personally, I see this kind of movie as an act of terrorism - akin to saying hey Arab world, your belief system is a cancer (his words) and should be eradicated. Some will hear that as stating opinion, others as inciting genocide. I'm not Muslim, but hear it as the latter.
Oh... Lest anyone think it's only Islam, try burning a picture of the Pope or creating a Virgin Mary out of dung anywhere in South America. I would love to see how long it takes before someone lights a torch under your backside.
-
To an extent I fully agree, but freedom of speech is a god given right here. There's an old saying "I may not like what you have to say, but I'll fight to the death to let you say it." No doubt what the guy said and did was stupid, but as an American I HAVE to defend his right to say it.

Yeah man, get with it, neither Roman Catholic nor Orthodox churches were Christian. They certainly didn't read the Bible to follow the words of Christ, which would make them, um, Christian. And they certainly didn't crusade and murder in the name of Christianity. Likewise for the Inquisition. Thank God for the enlightenment!(king! Lol!)
Glad you're all caught up now. That was a little embarrassing ✌

Personally, I have not been this disgusted over religious ideology since 2001.
Reading comments on YouTube under the video in question, I want just reach in there and start slapping people over the head on both ends of the extreme.
"Think about how stupid the average person is... And the realize that half of them are stupider than that."
It's frightening. What can you do about the over 3 billion idiots in the bottom half that think they are in the top half?
Or worse yet, the ones that actually believe 1500 years ago, this dude alone in the desert had bypass surgery performed by an angel, removing a satanic blood clot and sending him off home without a scratch to warlord over the infidels...
People are so easily misled.

@mackmech
Let's be clear. Freedom of speech is a government given, not a God given privilege. Or else it would apply to the rest of "God's children" across the world that are daily thrown in jail for opening their mouths.
Now, if I have the "right" to insult everything you stand for, then you should have the "right" to respond. Not everyone is going to respond with words. I should be aware of that before opening my mouth. $5M to make that garbage and incite violence. Ppl dead, others deployed on warships over this. Couldn't have fed people for that $, no.And here you have the US-Arab conversation for the past decade... "You hate our 'freedoms'" vs. "you hate our soul." Throw in an idiotic movie like this one and you have a Molotov cocktail that brings us all back to a Crusade mentality. I believe in free speech but won't fight for hate, no matter whose side it's on.

You could easily rephrase that to
... the ones who believe that 2000 years ago this dude converted water into wine OR
... the ones that believe that 2500 years ago this dude sat under a tree for 49 days eating 49 nuts to reach enlightenment OR
... the ones who believe that 3000 years ago this dude split apart the Red Sea to lead his ppl acrossPeople should be allowed to believe what they want. Don't spit on or burn their books for believing it.

Why would you want another war anyway? U.S. is broke how would it be paid for. Besides how is that going to solve anything? U. S. should return to isolationism. What has all this involement done for us anyway. French hate us let the Islamist have their country tired of saving them just so they can hate us back. Geesh even Canadians hate us, read the 9/11 stuff. Big warning for ya debt is killing this country and ya better prepare for the fall anyway. Americans are so dumb they have no idea of what's really going on. Lol ok so I sound extreme but there is a little bit of truth in what I'm saying.
