When you think about it not really they make movies very loud nowadaysDe Rick wrote:
Unless he was shooting a .22 or something suppressed, a real gun shot is going to be noticeably louder than then the theater speakers. The shooter entered through the theaters back door of the theatre and release some sort of gas possibly a smoke bomb the shooting happened during the 1st shooting scene of the movie helping disguise the gunfire
Incredibly shocking and sad. It's a true tragedy.

"When carrying a concealed weapon for self-defense is understood not as a failure of civil society, to be mourned, but as an act of citizenship, to be vaunted, there is little civilian life left."
I, myself, would suspect the sanity of anyone who felt compelled to be armed at a public event. That's someone looking for an excuse to shoot, or kill someone. Regarding the analogy of the sports car - would you buy a sports car to keep it hidden in your garage? -

Why would you suspect the sanity of people who go armed? Yes. A sports car should be driven not concealed in a garage. By the same reasoning your sidearm should not be stored away it should be carried.

Right. You want to use your Lamborgini, and you want people to double-take as they see you race by in it. If you had a gun, why would you want to keep it hidden in your jacket pocket?

I don't carry my sidearm to show off. I carry as means of self defense.

11000 murders a year on average versus gun control. Mostly innocent lives versus the 'fun' of shooting. A gun will rarely help in self defense, if you pull a gun on a burgler the chamces are he will draw thus escalating the situation
-
Personally my solution to this would to have a concealed trained weapon holder (ex law enforcent ect) in most public places so that the average person dpes not need to be armed
-
I have no feelings ether way about your gun laws but I am happy liveing in the uk where the laws are strict and the police arnt armed, we manage ok.

There is a time and a place to go show off your gun; that's at a shooting range. There is a time to keep it concealed, and that is in public (if your licensed to do so). Same thing for doing 150 in your fast car. Go fast on a track, follow the laws in town.
I don't carry my gun looking to shoot someone. Quite the opposite actually. I hope to never ever ever have to pull out my gun, much less use it. I see it as a last ditch tool to get me and those close to me out of a sticky situation. It's plan c or d if you want to think of it that way. Does that make me paranoid? That might be a fair argument although I don't think so.
-
Carrying a handgun and being able to obtain an automatic rifle are two entirely different arguments. The two shouldn't be compared.

I ask you the same question I posed earlier. Looking at those who committed those murders, how many wanted to shoot their victims, and how many wanted to kill their victims? If you took their gun away and gave them a knife, all else being equal, would the numbers be different?11000 murders a year on average versus gun control. If someone wants to hurt someone else, they're going to do it. A gun is just a tool they choose to use.
