Ran track this year for my high school and my best mile was just under 5:40. Never thought I'd get that.
Its hard at first but stick with it and you'll get it in no time -
You can definitely get to 6:00. I'm 6' 180. 3 yrs ago I never ran further than 1.5 mi. Did my first marathon last year in 4:27. For 5k's I'm right around 20 mins. Just start slow and work towards your goal. And stay healthy. Shin splints are a bitch.

I'm of the opinion that any human, with enough dedication, can be come extraordinary at anything. I've always been slow and had realively low stamina. I feel that I can change that.

Do a little research on exercises that help improve time. Pick ups are a really good way to shave time off of your run. Keep with it, and keep track of your time in a journal. It's easier to stay motivated when you can actually watch your improvement.

Today's run!
1 mile- 16 minutes 11 seconds.
1 and half mile - 26 minutes 2 seconds.I fell over and hurt myself. So I adventured slowly home, hanging my head in shame as I limped more the usual.
I think you guys are cheating. Your not allowed to use cars you know. -
Pace yourself. Maintain the required speed for the entire run. I am tall and slow, but it definitely was not a sprint.
I really like the treadmill idea. Run a 6 minute mile or break both your legs. I bet you will make it. :)

Put it this way I havnt ran for over a year
I went with my bro running and was able to complete a mile in 8 mins
Just keep pushing it and you'll be fine. If I can do it in 8 when I'm out if shape then you can do it in 6 -
I took up running about three years ago for a similar reason. I don't go for sprint speed, but endurance. I usually run 3.5mi 3x per week.

Just woke up and it's pouring, Im going to wait for a break in the storm then go out. I dont really mind if it's drizzling.

Okay did 30 mins, but I really hit a wall about 16 mins in. After that the best I could do was a slow jog. I think it's either mental or my threshold is about 2 miles without walking. I really need to work this up because to run a fast mile you have to have endurance.

1 mile: about 8.23 last I did one.My goal is too get back in shape. I lost about 17lb since I moved about a month ago. this summer I'm doing a water fast for 10-15 days then I'm gonna start running a mountain like I used to in 2010.
