The ice is melting. Forget about why. It doesn't matter at this point. Non-productive argument.
But consider this:
The Earth is cooler now than it has been for most of the last 100 million years. During the Carboniferous, when our coal was first made, the Earth was a thriving sea of life with greenhouse gas at levels many multiples over Al Gore's worst nightmares.
The dinosaurs exploded in a comfortable steam bath jungle caused by runaway greenhouse gasses. The Earth was GREEN.
Yes, there will be change. People must move, adapt, survive... Everything we have always done.
But a bit of global warming isn't going to starve us. What will starve us is when we run out of oil and food production drops 90%. We are living in an oil bubble. Just wait until THAT market crashes.

Food shortages will be caused by eating to much from the top of the food chain, over consumption, and waste. Not because the planet is running out of food.
People could eat cockroaches but that thought is disgusting for most in "civilized" societies. -

You should probably look more into how food is produced, and the sheer volume required to feed 7 billion people. It is absolutely unsustainable without a steady supply of cheap oil.Food shortages will be caused by eating to much from the top of the food chain, over consumption, and waste. People could eat cockroaches but that thought is disgusting for most in "civilized" societies.90% of our current food production and distribution depends on oil, and even that food is already fairly low quality nutrition.

Man has a great ability to adapt. I reckon the old Darwin theory will kick into place if things get really tough. Anyone for some roast lawyer???

I said nothing about oil. I realize that oil makes the world go round. My point was that we can eat things closer to home and things that we think are gross. Alot of insects are higher in protein then the steak or burger coming from a cow that requires massive amounts of feed. If we ate what is in season and what is closer to home then we wouldn't need to be shipping as much as we are around the world.
Apples and oranges for example. You go to the store and there are types from all around the world. Tell people tough shit, you want apples and oranges? Then you are going to eat the ones grown closest to you. Ship what needs to be shipped. -

There will never be a return to 1890 farming methods without some serious standard of living changes, a dramatic reduction in population, and some serious genetic engineering, which is unpopular, but vital.

Hey Newton, bake your noodle on this:
Where did all the carbon come from that fed the plants that eventually became fossil fuels?
Whack job.

Scary future whatever your perspective. All agree the oil will run out and a replacement is needed fast. It's likely to go faster as china and India in particular grow. So what is the answer?

Carbon cycle. Learn it, Brown Note. Carbon is stored in various ways. One of the more concentrated forms is coal, gas, etc. you are releasing it into the atmostphere by burning it! That's how it works! And you can't just deny everything when there has been proof. Like I could make something like this up or that I would like to make it up.Jeff 🍆 Newton wrote:

The point is CO2 is plant food. They consume it and it gets turned into biomass. For there to be "fossil" fuels there had to be CO2 to feed the plants that became "fuel".
The whole point of the climate change garbage is new taxes and increasing oil company profits (cost of the end good goes up, cost of extraction stays the same, more profit). If you look at those supporting carbon trading try are all paid by the oil and energy companies.

Just like the carbon is recycled. Im glad you understand!

Hey fruit newton, the carbon was in the atmosphere. That's where it came from. It was reduced during the Earth's warmer periods as plants took in the co2 and replaced it with o2.
The carbons we're burning now came from the air during periods of greenhouse warming far beyond what exists in the air currently.
Science. Learn it.

Your earlier statement that the co2 levels are higher than ever before is not true. I expect a formal retraction, and would be pleasantly surprised if you just admit you have no idea what you are talking about.
Take me to school? Gimme a break. Suck on your own eggplant for a change.
