That's a bad idea as hydrogen cars are way too slow to be practiceA hydrogen highway is a chain of hydrogen-equipped filling stations and other infrastructure along a road or highway which allow hydrogen powered cars to travel.
The use of hydrogen cars has been proposed as a means to reduce local pollution and carbon emissions because hydrogen fuel cell cars emit clean exhaust. However, as long as the majority of hydrogen continues to be produced by burning fossil fuels, some pollution is emitted by the hydrogen manufacturing process. -
I thought this was gonna be about the new energy drink called "Alternative Energy". I think it's supposed to be all natural or something & comes in a bottle, not a can.

This was an entertaining back and forth! I think I'll just give you the last word. I couldn't prove my points any better than you just did. Thanks B! Maybe your state should switch gears. Coal is going to continue to be a thing of the past cj brown

Ok I'm 13 so correct me if there's no way this an be done. But here's some freethinking, its a long shot though. What if your state started using solar panels and wind turbines. They become familiar with these types of machines, and begin new innovation and more efficient ones are produced by your state, being sold to other states and maybe even nations, boosting your states economy! Long shot, I know, just a thought

Everyone complains about the waste when no one has done any research into what can be done with said waste! New technologies take that left over nuclear waste and let us convert it into long term space fuel. We have the technology to not have left over waste from these nuclear plants and still have the same benefits, even more considering this is free fuel for space travel.

Um y use energy just live like apes againg, people are so demanding

The primary source of hydrogen is natural gas today, electrolysis is too expensive but even then you have to consider where the electricity comes from. We should still be moving to electric vehicles from an efficiency standpoint.
Most of the alternative energy schemes out there don't really work of make sense and exist to profit the "greenwash" industry. Windmills are the classic example.
Clean coal is the way to go. Coal gasification is a real and practice solution and is no dirtier than natural gas but doesn't polute ground water with hydrofracing.
Ultimately the future is with fusion which isn't as far away as you think (look up ITER).
Having worked in and around several DOE research institutions before the green feet hit I have seen real solutions to a sustainable future that dont involve political points and payoffs to giant companies.

Methane (pronounced /ˈmɛθeɪn/ or /ˈmiːθeɪn/) is a chemical compound with the chemical formula CH4. It is the simplest alkane, the principal component of natural gas, and probably the most abundant organic compound on earth. The relative abundance of methane makes it an attractive fuel. However, because it is a gas at normal conditions, methane is difficult to transport from its source.

I think that we need some cars that can run on other things than gas, becuase at $3.79 a gallon my 15mph truck is making me poor.

Actually liberal used to be a republican concept. The problem is the perversion of real goals by those that are seeking personal enrichment. While a number of people may have their own vision of a better future the people we elect exist to line the pockets of themselves and their friends, not better future. Energy is by far the easiest way to get the most money for the effort.
The problem with most environmentalists is that they are passive aggressive dicks that aren't interested in solutions only making people miserable.
-
Awsome you know where liberal derived from. In fact their was nevet supposs to be this party crap. All it does is divide and make people arrogant. Im open to all solutions if we find a good one. So why do we need to sraight out deny alternative fuels? Lets keep searching the feilds and hearing eachother out. And we may find something. This atmosphere today is what got Aristachus in trouble, his view as earth being a planet and not the center was denied. And later found to be true. And in fact created a era of learning much later after his and copernicus time.
-
Someone please tell me who is " liberal " in congress today? If they voted for the patriot act or any other legislation that takes away our liberties you better not put them down. These so called "liberals" in congress are a joke. The only true liberal I've seen is a GOP member.
You can't be liberal and at the same time use the constitution as toilet paper. That's what both parties are doing these days. -
Roof gardens are most often found in urban environments. Plants have the ability to reduce the overall heat absorption of the building which then reduces energy consumption. "The primary cause of heat build-up in cities is insolation, the absorption of solar radiation by roads and buildings in the city and the storage of this heat in the building material and its subsequent re-radiation. Plant surfaces however, as a result of transpiration, do not rise more than 4–5 °C above the ambient and are sometimes cooler."[5] This then translates into a cooling of the environment between 3.6 and 11.3 degrees Celsius (6.5 and 20.3 °F), depending on the area on earth (in hotter areas, the environmental temperature will cool more). The study was performed by the University of Cardiff.[6]

A study at the National Research Council of Canada showed the differences between roofs with gardens and roofs without gardens against temperature. The study shows temperature effects on different layers of each roof at different times of the day. Roof gardens are obviously very beneficial in reducing the effects of temperature against roofs without gardens. “If widely adopted, rooftop gardens could reduce the urban heat island, which would decrease smog episodes, problems associated with heat stress and further lower energy consumption.” [7]

We are going to have some big energy problems long before coal becomes a real issue.
Get a 747 off the ground without cheap oil.
Feed 7 billion people without fertilizer, heavy machinery, or long-range distribution.
I think our focus should be on the impending doom caused by scarce/expensive oil.
Coal? We have lots. Melting ice? Who cares? Nuclear, coal, and natural gas will give us cheap electricity. But nothing gets work done like oil.
If you care, worry about how we are going to go from oil dependancy to oil depleted in the next 50 years. That's what will kill us off first.
If you are worried about the Earth, you have no geologic perspective.

There are some people that think that we should use our own oil but what they fail to realize is that our nation is so dependent on it that our oil wouldnt be enough.

You're kidding right B?

Like near half of the ice caps melting isnt proof enough
