God gave man freewill to decide as he pleases. Would you rather live in a world of puppets?
And death and suffering, are only of the flesh. The soul can not die, or be harmed.

*sigh* I was saying that IF a god does exist, his/her benevelance is highly doubtfulHey scroobius, if you don't believe in god then why are you arguing over a "fake" being. If he's is not real in your mind you can't say he helped with the wars and such.

the Bible begs to differ. It contains scores of passages relating tales of gOD ordering the murder, rape, and cannibalism of men, women and children.

"He supported the side avenging the girls death"
And didn't punish the cowards who sacrificed her to save themselves -
I'm still waiting for evidence...
evidence?? For my argument that logic leads us to the conclusion of not knowing the truth? Because there is no evidence that can lead us to a objective answer eitherway...You will be waiting a while then.

I choose the door of whichever god actually exists. I have a one-in-a-billion chance of choosing the right one, so I'll probably just pick one at random and devote my entire life to that religionNobody sends you anywhere. The decisions are yours to make. It's very clearly spelled out what is behind each door. You get to choose the door.
Choosing at random is not faith. And following a choice that you randomly picked is not the excersize of free will.
You are given the view of what is behind each door. It is up to you to explore each of those possibilities and follow the one that you feel most comfortable with.
The problem with faith is that every one believes theirs is the only one or the right one.
What if none of them are right? What if they are all right? How do we know God does not present himself in many forms?

...and that the Christians got it right. The Navajo got it right, The Muslims got it right, The Hindus and Buddhists got it right. Maybe even the Wiccans got it right.
And the only difference in all of the above, and all the others not mentioned, is in the interpretation?
Maybe all that is required is to follow your heart and live a life that you feel is righteous and true to yourself?

Yet in the Bible God can intervene in these situations, granting strength, or in Hitler's case, perhaps giving better luck to those who ran Operation ValkyrieScroobius Pip wrote: Yeah he might come and get me just like he did with Hitler and Stalin. Why can't I see, feel or hear god. I would try using faith but I don't want to be delusional.

I think I can leave you in Charlie capable hands. He seems to have done his resurch on this subject.

Well that's assuming I'm right.
And would you rather put your faith in the fallible (man) or the infallible (God)?

And since you didn't answer my question, I'm assuming. If you're atheist you know a lot about the Christian religion. If you're not you don't act like it because in all religion's their is a loving God who supportes them.So what are you?

Now we're getting into the "chicken or the egg" type of argument.

I once eat some pages from the bible. It was a bit dry.

Paper has that tendency. Steaming it first might help. Or you may want to try older bibles. Many were printed on rice paper, so you'll at least get some nutritional value.

Now we're getting into the "chicken or the egg" type of argument.
• Even allowing for the stuff about "different interpretations" and "different paths to God" at least 99.9999% of gods are made up•This conservative estimate gives a particular god at best a one-in-a-million chance of being real.
•The likelihood, therefore, is that the god being referred to is made up -
And that's where faith comes in. No one can tell you what to believe in. You have to reach that conclusion yourself.
I can't explain why I believe in the things I believe in. All I can say is that after all my due diligence and research, it just feels right.
And over the course of many years, "what feels right" has changed for me. Those changes were usually brought about by these types of discussions, when someone brought up an idea or thought I may have not considered previously. Exploring those ideas goes one of two ways: a change in belief, or a stronger conviction of my current belief.

So because you read the Bible, that makes you Christian.

If I read a Chilton's manual, does that make me a mechanic?
