🇷🇺Communism vs. Democracy🇺🇸

If you havesomething to say, I would like to hear it. There is more than jus Communism and Democracy, so third opinions would serve to add quite a bit of extra thoughts here. And to Addi, I agree, it was extremism that ruined Commu ism in the first place, and has the potential to ruin any government. Total power corrupts totally.

I believe communism if a great idea if it can be applied on a local scale, where every person has a vested interest in eachothers' success. It would never work for America, because every region has different resources and needs. But if you isolated down to the size of some large counties, and maintained a strong sense of community by knowing and working with eachother, great things could come of it. The only reason I believe people don't like communism is the example shown by Cuba, the closest communist society to home, where the bar is set fairly low, largely in part by our trade embargo. If the communist bar was set at the "American standard" of living, I'd sign up today!
-
To all that say communism is bad you are Americans and grew up in the cold war thus propaganda that communism is the worst thing in the world is all you know. I have first hand accounts from my family that they lived so much better at the peak of communism then they ever have while Russia is a democratic republic. All who think that democracy is life and communism is death are uneducated close minded Americans.
-
While itis the nation that most influences America's opinion on communism, Cuba is not what Communism is supposed to be.

Facepalm. Communism is an
Economic system in which the government decides prices, and economy stuff. -
No, that's a command economy, which is often associated with Stalinism or totalitarian states. May I direct you to the Communist Manifesto, in which Marx lays out a bluepri t for a governmwntal philosphy. Besides, in pure Communism there would be no need for the mofern idea of economy, because everyone would recieve the same goods, eliminating tade on a person to person level.
-
Uh guys, democracy is a governmental system, communism is an economic system. It's like comparing trees to fish. Doesn't work.
-
Right above, I just said that in the Communist Manifesto, a blueprint is laid for a GOVERNMENT, and that the modern idea of economy would disimtegrate because everyone would have the same government produced goods, eliminating the need for trade on a person to person level.

Ok let me put it this way. You can have a democracy in a communist system. You can't argue which one is better. Marxism is the bit that deals with government
-
Let me rephrase myself. The main principal of communim is total equality. In a Democracy, people vote on what they think should be done. In a true Democracy, the majority will rule the minority, resulting in inequality, violating the main principle of true communism, so no, the pure, unadulterated forms of both cannot both be used in the same governing body.
-
My idea's always been that in order for true communism to work, everyone would have to be a perfect person. That way you wouldn't get problems with people working badly just because they get paid the same either way. But then, if everyone were perfect, you wouldn't need to have a government-mandated system of equality, because people would help out the poor of their own accord, and do what's best for society as a whole, and not just themselves. As long as there are self-interested people in the world, there will be no perfect form of government.

Wow looks like all of u sure did ur homework in school

It sounds good, in theory, a society in which everyone is equal, but it's inpractical and impossible to have without oppressing those who desire to grow, which, as I said is human nature.
To bastradize a Ghandi quote. Democracy sounds good idea, and hope someone tries it some day.

China is many things but the communist systems have gradually faded away. Old communist era ideologies persist, but it is difficult to say what China now is. To say China is communist is much to vague and totalizing. I know it is hard for you guys outside of China to get clear view with all the misinformation out there.

Surely this should be communism v capitalism or democracy v dictatorship? You can have democratic communism. It is also worth remembering that democracy is not the ideal form of government, but it is the least worst form of government (Winston Churchill). Now if you could have a benign dictator with a fixed term of office and no possibility of standing for a second term along with a democratic second chamber as a check and balance on his benigness you may remove many issues related to democracy (really just a popularity contest where you seek votes from ill educated and ill informed). Communism and capitalism fail at the extremes due to one ineradicable human trait - Greed! Neither are evil in principle. Merchant Bankers ruined international economies as much as Stalin ruined Russia. Unfortunately power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I prefer Bill & Ted approach - be excellent to each other; you never know it may catch on and world will become better place!

I have a post above about whether or not the true, unadulterated forms of Communism and Democracy could exist together. I also have a post about a mixture of the two on the first page. While your mixed form is different, thank you for seeing the point I've been trying to drive since the beginning, that the true form of neither can exist, and that a mixture would be the best.

All types have faults and benefits in ways. Communism was considered so bad because countries like the Soviet Union, Cuba, and North Korea and they were pretty brutal to thier people but they basically were a dictarship with a hint of communism.
Our country's democratic republic is the best choice because it allows freedom in many, many ways and that is beneficial for many. Thing is stuff like corruption, power, and money as well as many other things makes the system and government bad.
-
Well, let me tell you what my dad has told me, "Communism is the perfect government, but only in a perfect situation" and I have gron to believe it too. What he means is that, in a communism, everything is dulled out equally; for example, every family gets 3 gallons of milk every week. But that doesn't work in real life cause not everyone is the same. Say my family loves milk and drinks 4-5 gallons a week. What do I do then? I can't go waltz down to the supermarket, there isn't one. And you also have to take into account the leader. He could be a tyrant, or he could be really nice. Democry/Repuplic tends to work best in real life, the free market, the free economy, the changing leaders, everything. But demococy is much weeker. Much. It's hard to pursue anything long term while the leadership is constantly changing. The Romans learned that lesson quite well.
If you enjoyed this, send me a thanks in a message pls. -
The one problem with that is that things are divided on a person to person basis, taking age into account. For example, a couple would get less milk than a family with two teens and two young children, which would get less than a fqmily of thirteen. The family of thirteen we'll assume ismtwo parents and 11 young children, would get less than a familymof two parents and thirteen teenagers.
-
Also, you say the reason your family drinks 4-5 gallons of milk a day is be ause you love it, not need it. I've had to go without little indulgments before, I'm sure most people could do from distribution time to distribution time.

There is no such thing as communism, only the idea of communism.

Neither communism or democracy are the answer. A republic is what works. The USA had it in its purest form many years ago, but now through our many communist prisidents (rosevelt, carter, Obama) our republic has turned into a fusion of republic/communism. This is why we are failing as a nation, we used to be the most powerful nation and the most free.

You do mean a fascist republic right? That one socialist thing Obama has done hasn't even gone into effect. Though, the overload of money/corporations in politics is very prevalent.
