Your sister obviously is missing sonething important then. My girlfriends mother has been strict vegan for 15 years and she had a child 4 years ago.Humans are omnivorus by nature.
It's not a complete replacement. As I said earlier. My sister on no meat, infertile, eating meat. Fertile. There is no way you can repeat 'beans and rice totaly replace meat' that I won't believe is bullshit.
We are evolutionary omnivourus meat eaters. You may not see the problems caused by removing meat completely. But they are there.
Not all humans react the same to malnutrition. You are aware of that? -
Eating vegetarian is fine. I just don't like when people get self-righteous about it.

Too stubborn. It's just like the religion thread. I'm out π

Being a vegetarian is a condition of luxury. As pointed out by mama tek. As for the religious discussion well I wonder what a carpenters last meal might contain? Especially in ancient times where shepards kept flocks. Lamb? Goat? Flocks of corn? Guess it would depend on beliefs, but what about our ancient ancestors? Bet they eat meat. Bet there is a geologist that could prove the point. Brings the discussion full circle where I bet if hungry enough anyone who posted here would eat whatever they had to in order to survive. Economics plays a big role in our food choices. π«π«Β©

Good read here. Most of you seem well informed on the issue. I think one of the things that kills most about these sorts of diets is that they are often touted as wonder diets. Or wonder cures. The problem with these pseudo-scientific theories is that science makes generalized claims based off of very narrow and rigidly defined parameters. It is difficult to say how these factors may influence each other in a more complex system.

Probably best to try a variety of diets and see what works best for you. But this may also change over time,

They arnt proven facts, the fact you think they are is laughable. I'd say it was harsh to say we were stubborn just because your opinion wasn't unilaterally accepted. Oh, and I read a lot. Mostly science. And I have a keen interest in food and food welfare. ;)slugboy wrote:
