we don't ha ve to roll back to 1910. We just need to change the "politics as usual" and the old boy network. But mostly, power needs to be restored to the people. So basically, roll it back to 1910. Abso-freaking-lutely.
The "progress" since then can be kept on a case by case basis, but in reality, that's exactly what CC is asking for.
What do you think about the gold standard?
And something needs to be done about the currency system. There needs to be some sort of backing.

Try to keep in mind, the constitution's main role is to define and limit a federal government. Limit being the key word. Those limits are well defined. There is nothing vague about it. It becomes vague when you have people trying to cram everything they want to do under interstate commerce regulation and promoting general welfare. Taken at face value, those are frequently abused by the federal government. The only living and breathing part of this document are through ammendments, which are intentionally difficut to add.
If we give states their intended rights, and the people respectively, the federal government gets very small.
Defense, interstate, international. Done.
Excellent post.

Again see my statement. They didn't "intentionally" leave it vague, they left it that way after compromise. And to following the Constitution explicity... that just isn't possible. The FoundinG Fathers intentionally left it vague and open to interpretation. Intending for it to be a living documentvthat would grow, change and adapt with this Country as it did the same.
The problems arise from different sets of ideals and everybody thinking there way is the best. You NEVER please everyone, no matter how fair you make it. There will always be someone wanting "more" or "different".

How about some examples, please.1) Why do 3rd world countries have superior public transportation
2) Why do third world countries have free education.1. Where are thes people going that they need superior transportation? To the market to get their less than plentiful portion of rice?
2. What is the quality of their "free" education? We have free education in the US well. You being a Professor should be aware o that.

What would u cut besides welfare? Do u support the drastic cuts made to the budgets of state universities?
too many cuts to list. I don't get why we need to spend so much on space exploration when we have so many problems here on earth. And we know more about space than we do of our oceans.
As to education, it needs far more funding, IMO. Your an educator, right? Math Professor? Google Hawaii Teacher Furloughs. I'd love to hear your input on this great attrocity. (serious, btw). You mentioned you only have to work three hours/week and have no life, so how about it? You up for the challenge?

I am a free thinker and these are the values and policies I believe in.

I support the working class as well. But I believe they deserve the right to get ahead and be protected from overbearing gov and corporate polices. The deserve a wage they can actually live on.
They deserve to keep a majority of their earnings. As it is right now, between state, federal, county income taxes, sales and other taxes, very few actually end up with more than 50% of their earnings.
They also deserve not to have their hard earned wealth redistributed to the lazy and unmotivated ethicless welfare class thatvexist only to collect.
This is not an inditement of all on welfare, but the system is broken and abuse is rampant.

And it's Kool, not cool. But really, it's Flavor-Aid, not Kool Aid.

We have a basic disconnect. I do not believe in the fabrication of classes. It's not in the founding documents. I was born poor, I worked hard, I'm now rich. How did that happen? Why are you stuck in the "middle"?Brown Note wrote:
Did I misunderstand your "you and them" comment? Did you want literal definitions? Wages have stagnated for the middle class(me) while coporate interests(them) lobby to weaken regulations(we the people), allowing them to further squeeze the middle class. You choose to focus on the miniscule amount of money moving downhill, when the money moving uphill is what is destroying America's ability to compete in the world economy. It's easy to tear people down when you define their position for them.

It's the job of government to arbitrate contract disputes. It's not the government's job to take money from some people and give it to others. Technically, I believe that is illegal discrimination. Why should a person be different in the eyes of the law because of his PRIVATE property?

But that is exactly what welfare is. Redistribution of wealth. Your hard earned money is taken away and handed over to those fully capable, yet unwilling to work.
Ever hear of Earned Income Tax Credit? Folks who have paid ZERO in taxes can actually get a tax refund. Hundreds of millions in rebates have also gone to millions have NEVER paid ANY taxes.

It must be because I'm stupid or lazy, right? I think you're full of it. I'd love to hear how you're a self-made-man who never relied on the federal government for anything. By the way, your Colonel Jessup imitation yesterday was pathetic. You're a fabrication of your own imagination.

It's your upper lip. I have nothing to prove to you. You'd think someone in your position would be a mature adult. You are just a whiny, crude, know-it-all. I suppose I shouldn't be suprised anymore. You're so burried in German philosophy that you can't see reality anymore. Go back to your staff lounge and tell everyone you had a run-in with someone claiming to be a successful capitalist, but you knew it couldn't be true.

I'm having some fun watching these people with their stereotypes and assumptions get it wrong again and again. It must be a leftist trait.

That's what I thought. All hat, no cattle. Just another selfish tax whiner. Don't you know everyone on the Internet is a millionare with a huge cock?

Are you losing your cool? Having a hard time making new assumptions about the people in your world? Are you actually a professor?
-
Well, you have insulted my honor with accusations that I was not in the military, and now again that I am not financially well off. Go ahead professor. Test me. Pop quiz time.

The problem is that everyone is generalizing this thing to pieces. Reform is needed in several areas for us to truely right the ship. The welfare program is a disaster, the greatest healthcare system in the world could have been fixed in other ways than socialization and education funding should NEVER be cut.
-
Call me crazy, but before any other regulations are put in place we need a SEC that responds to repeat letters coming for a decade with titles like "Bernie Madoff is running the world's largest ponzi scheme: and here is how"
-
Lot's of unconstitutional things are declared constitutional. What's your point?
Feed me some rope, chump. Let's go. I got nothing to fear. Maybe you don't know enough to test me. Is that it?

Ask for some intimate detail of my service. Ask about how I support my family. Ask about my education. Fire away, twit.

You most likely were home-schooled and went to Robert Jones University and majored in finance. You're probably working on your MBA now. You're a dying breed, a self-made man. I'm a high school drop out, forced by my Grandmother to get my GED. I joined the Navy out of desperation to do something with my life. I was on a missile sub in the pacific for the first half of the 90s. I became a man during that time and became interested in history and politics. When I got out, I met a fine woman, paid my way through college, studying what the Navy started me on, graduated BS CIS valedictorian. I moved up in my career quickly breaking the 6 figure mark some time ago. I do wedding photography on the side at 4-5k per weekend, and my wife is a teacher in a wealthy area of Maryland. I'm an atheist, I have 2 kids, one with special needs. According to Obama, I'm rich. I have some private investments that do very well. I drive a beater, I work hard and save hard. Go ahead. Pick it apart ya gimpy bastard.

With all that going on, why are you on the forums ALL THE TIME? go play with your kids, you intellectually frustrated spazz

I had to take 3 furlough days this semester. The fact that we get such days off shows that these people are rather clueless as to what a professor does. The entire university took the same day off as a sign of protest. On one hand I work 3 official hours per week, I am really working 24/7 on my research (yes even when I sleep or play this video game).
NASA 1) The average American contributes 25 cents per year to NASA.
2) Also, in the aim of science there are nearly alway unintended consequences. Many many important advancements were made as corollaries to space exploration, for instance Velcro! :) -
3) I addressed pork barell spending in post I deleted. PBS accounts for such a small part of the overall budget, as u no doubt heard 50,000 times during the last election. This is a necessary evil of government.
4) Not all lobbist are bad. It would clearly be ridiculous to eliminate all, so how do u define the 'some' that need to be eliminated?
